  • SNS is a social networking service that helps people to have a two-way communication, manage their personal relationships and share information. The domestic and international SNS markets have attained a steady growth, and their growth is being more accelerated recently. Under these circumstances, immature students are more likely to show negative cyber behavior. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the use of SNS, motives of SNS use, the use of active SNS functions, SNS-dependency and views in SNS and negative SNS behaviors among elementary and middle school students. For this, negative cycber behaviors are classified into four stages depending on the severity, for each of which distribution of factors is investigated and the combination of factors to determine each stage is obtained through association rule analysis. As a result, it is found that 85% of the students rarely show negative cyber behaviors, stealing personal information and contacting with strangers are the most frequent negative behaviors, and students with a great dependency on SNS are highly probable to show negative behaviors.

  • SNS is a social networking service that removes the barrier between cyber spaces and the real world and helps people who have common interests to have a two-way communication, manage their interpersonal relationships and share information. The domestic and international SNS markets have attained a steady growth, and their growth is being more accelerated in recent days. However, studies on SNS have just examined adults, and it's required to research the use of SNS and cyber behaviors via SNS among elementary and middle school students. This study attempted to analyze the relationship of the use of SNS, motivation of using SNS, the use of active SNS functions, SNS-dependent tendency and SNS awareness to cyber behaviors via SNS among elementary and middle school students. As a result, regardless of gender and grade, stealing private information was the most frequent activity and the frequency of 'contacting strangers' activity increased most rapidly with the usage time and grade. SNS dependency turned out to be the most highly correlated with the negative cyber behavior. Moreover, the difference of gender was not significant to the overall negative cyber behavior, whereas that of grade was.

In particular, this study focused on the fatigue of SNS users, as the recent excessive use of SNS has led to negative effects such as invasion of privacy, addition and social overload. fatigue This research will explain how producing adverse effects by using SNS caused psychological and mental depression. Previous researches explained that mental fatigue associated with SNS is not simple one and it is complicated with various psychological factors. Design/methodology/approach For research purposes, this study developed research hypotheses in order to empirically examine the factors that affect SNS users' fatigue and reluctant intention. The empirical research was based on a poll done through 800 research candidates in the SNS fields and the final 451 responses were collected and used in statistical data analysis. The adaptability, trust, and validity to measurement model were verified and the structural relationship in the research model was analyzed through these 451 responses. Findings First of all, maintenance fatigue of SNS had a positive significant effect on coupling and fatigue of SNS and information privacy had a non-significant effect on fatigue. Second, coupling had a negative significant effect on rational inattention, however, perceived cost had a non-significant effect on rational inattention. Third, lateral/upward comparison had a positive significant on user's negative emotions. Meanwhile, user's negative emotions did not have a significant effect on rational inattention.

This paper studies on mentality or attitude of Social Network Services (SNS for short) users, on the basis of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM for short) and then proposes so-called TAMS, Technology Acceptance Model for Social Network Services. SNS users make full use of SNS as channels in order to create, expand, and obtain some information related to personal concerns. We will research on how the benefits that users get by using SNS exert influence on user-perceived usability. The SNS-using benefits focus on relationship benefits that are formed by interactions among users. Provided that perceived usability affects mental or informational benefits according to involvement of SNS users, we will check how perceived usability or ease of use is connected to brand attitude.

  • Social networking sites (SNS), such as Facebook, provide abundant social comparison opportunities. Given the widespread use of SNSs, the purpose of the present study was to examine the impact of exposure to social media-based social comparison on user's negative emotions and discontinuous use intention on SNS. We present evidence that under the use of SNS, social comparison activities diverge into three patterns, with explicit self-evaluation desire made against similar target (lateral comparison), self-defense desire made against less fortunate target (downward comparison), and self-enhancement desire made with more fortunate target (upward comparison). Such social comparison processes frequently arise, as people are increasingly using on SNSs, the downward contacts ameliorating self-esteem with positive emotions, but the upward contacts and standard contacts with lateral status enabling a person to compare his or her situation with others and simultaneously increase negative emotions due to its differences with others. In other words, as people increasingly relying on SNSs for a variety of everyday tasks, they risk overexposure to upward or standard social comparison information that may have a cumulative detrimental impact on future intention on SNS use. This study with survey with 209 SNS users found that these negative emotions lead to negative fatigue (attitude) and then discontinuous use intention (behavior) on SNS. Our findings are among the first to explicitly examine discontinuous use intention on SNS using social comparison theory and our results are consistent with those of past research showing that upward social comparisons can be detrimental.
