A Study on the $CO_2$ Laser Beam Welding of Thin Steel Sheets and Tailored Blanks - Between Similar Thin Sheet Materials - (박판의 $CO_2$레이저 빔 용접과 소재접합일체성형에 관한 연구- 동질 박판재간 -)

  • For the purpose of establishing laser welding condition (laser power, welding speed and beam focus) and of evaluating tailored blanks for two kinds of thin steel sheets SPCC and SK5M using in the thin plate structure such as automobile, train, and so on, investigated their $CO^2$ laser weldability under various initial welding conditions. SPCC thin sheet showed good weldability under some welding conditions. But, high carbon steel sheet SK5M needed heat treatment after welding to obtain ductility of the welded joint. And next, tailored blank was tested through deep drawing to evaluate reliability of their obtained laser welding conditions. The forming depths by tailored blank were SPCC+SPCC=22-25mm and SK5M+SK5M=13-25mm.

Induction of Apoptosis by Ginsenoside Rc on SK-MEL-28 Cell Lines (인체 흑색종세포에서 Ginsenoside Rc에 의한 Apoptosis의 유도)

  • A wide variety of cancer chemotherapeutic agents have been shown to induce programmed cell death (PCD, apoptosis) in various tumor cell fines in vitro. This study was performed to know how ginsenoside Rc affect on SK-MEL-28 cell line, and how they induce the apoptosis. SK-MEL-28 cell lines were treated with various concentrations of ginsenoside Rc and cultured for various times. At cell cycle analysis, cells arrested at G2/M phase by ginsenoside Rc and apotosis percentage increased along with increasing concentration and time. TUNEL assay was performed to know whether SK-MEL-28 cell fine die as apoptosis or necrosis by ginsenoside Rc. As a result, fluorescence increased along with increasing time and concentration. Fas expressed on SK-MEL-28 cell lines membrane by ginsenoside Rc was identified using flow cytometer. Ginsenoside Rc induced apoptosis against SK-MEL-28 cell fines, and the apoptosis mechanism was identified as Fas-mediated apotosis.

수정자발형성법을 통한 높은 균일도와 밀도를 갖는 InAs/GaAs 양자점 형성 및 특성평가

  • 최근 Stranski-Krastanov (SK) 성장법을 이용한 자발형성 (Self-assembled) InAs/GaAs 양자점 (Quantum Dot) 연구가 기초 물리학뿐만 아니라 응용에 있어 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존 보고에 따르면 SK 성장법을 통한 InAs/GaAs 양자점은 크기, 균일도, 및 밀도 등의 성장거동 제어에 한계가 있다. 예로, 성장속도 및 증착양이 감소하더라도 상대적으로 크기가 큰 InAs/GaAs 클러스터 (Cluster)를 형성하여 크기분포의 불균일 및 결함을 야기하여 결과적으로 전기/광학적 특성을 저해하는 요인이 된다. 이를 개선하기 위한 방안으로 SK 성장법을 변형한 다양한 수정자발형성법이 제안되어 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 SK 성장법과 Arsenic-interruption Technique(AIT), In Pre-deposition (IPD)법을 각각 접목한 수정자발형성법을 이용하여 상대적으로 크기가 큰 InAs/GaAs 양자점 또는 클러스터 형성을 감소시켜 공간적 크기 균일도 및 밀도를 제어한 결과를 보고한다. 성장된 InAs/GaAs 양자점 시료의 구조 및 광학적 특성을 원자력간현미경 (Artomic Force Microscopy, AFM)과 Photoluminescence (PL) 분광법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 기존 SK 성장법을 이용하여 형성한 기준시료의 AFM 이미지에서 InAs/GaAs 양자점과 클러스터의 공간밀도는 각각 6.4*1010/cm2와 1.4*109/cm2로 관찰되었다. 그러나, AIT를 이용한 양자점 시료의 경우 상대적으로 크기가 큰 InAs/GaAs 클러스터는 관찰되어지지 않았고, 양자점 밀도는 8.4*1010/cm2로 SK 양자점에 비하여 30% 정도 개선되었다. 또한, InAs/GaAs 클러스터를 제외한 공간 균일도는 SK-InAs/GaAs 양자점의 15.6%에 비하여 8%로 크게 개선된 결과를 얻었다. AIT 성장법을 이용한 InAs/GaAs 양자점에서 원자의 이동거리 (Migration Length)의 제어로 양자점의 형성특성이 개선된 것으로 설명할 수 있으며, Arsenic 차단 시간이 임계점 이상으로 길어지면 다시 InAs/GaAs 클러스터들이 형성되는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. InAs/GaAs 양자점과 클러스터 형성 특성이 초기 표면 조건에 어떻게 영향을 받는지 분석하기 위해, InAs 양자점 성장 이전에 V족 물질 공급 없이 Indium의 공급시간을 1초(IPDT1S 시료), 2초 (IPDT2S 시료), 3초 (IPDT1S 시료)로 변화시키면서 증착하고 기존 SK 성장법으로 양자점을 성장하였다 (IPD성장법). 그 결과 IDP1S 양자점 시료의 공간밀도가 10*1010/cm2로 SK InAs/GaAs 양자점 시료에 비해 약 60% 정도 증가하였고, 클러스터도 관찰 할 수 없었다. 그러나 IPD 시간이 증가할수록 다시 InAs/GaAs 클러스터들이 형성되는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 InAs/GaAs 양자점 성장초기에 InAs 핵생성 사이트 (Nucleation site)의 크기 및 상태를 제어하는 것이 양자점의 밀도 및 균일도를 제어하는 중요한 요소임을 알 수 있다.

Protective Effect of PineXol® on Hydrogen Peroxide-induced Apoptosis on SK-N-MC Cells and Focal Ischemia Rodent Models (파인엑솔이 과산화수소로 유도된 SK-N-MC 세포와 뇌졸중 백서 모델에서의 보호효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of $PineXol^{(R)}$ on $H_2O_2$-induced cell death in SK-N-MC cells, and in early stage focal ischemia rodent model. SK-N-MC cells were pre-treated with $200{\mu}M$ $H_2O_2$ or various concentrations of $PineXol^{(R)}$ (10, 30, and 50 pg/mL) for 24 h, and then exposed to $H_2O_2$ for 3 h. Cell death was assessed by the CCK-8 assay, reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay, and lactate and dehydrogenase (LDH) release assay. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) expressions were also analyzed by western blotting. Focal ischemia rodent model was used as the in vivo model, and different concentrations of $PineXol^{(R)}$ (1, 10, and 100 mg/kg) were administered. One week after administration, reduction of infarct volume was analyzed by TTC staining. Cell viability of $H_2O_2$-treated SK-N-MC cells significantly increased by pre-treatment of $PineXol^{(R)}$ (p<0.05). $PineXol^{(R)}$ pre-treatment also induced significant decrease of ROS and LDH expressions. However, $PineXol^{(R)}$ did not affect the infarct volume. These results suggest that $PineXol^{(R)}$ has significant neuroprotective effect in vitro, but statistical significance was not confirmed in the in vivo focal ischemia model.

SK텔레콤의 성공적인 다운사이징 사례;U.Key의 탄생

  • SK텔레콤은 급변하는 이동통신시장 환경의 변화에 적절히 대응하기 위하여 지난 10여 년간 사용해 온 메인프레임 기반의 COIS 시스템을 중단하고 Unix 기반의 NGM 시스템으로 다운사이징하기로 결정하였다. 2002 년 9 월 SK 텔레콤은 차세대 IT 인프라 혁신 전략 프로젝트를 완료하고 이에 근거하여 2003 년 말 1 단계 프로젝트를 추진하게 된다. 그러나 개발 툴의 문제점, Governance 의 확보 실패 등 문제점이 계속 누적되어 2005년에 접어들어서는 총체적 난국 상황에 봉착하게 되었다. 2005 년 2 월 자체 점검 결과 개발 진척도는 50%에 불과한 상황이었다. 결국 2005 년 3 월, NGM 추진본부는 프로젝트의 추진 중단을 선언하기에 이르렀다. NGM 프로젝트는 처음부터 재 검토하여 Re-planning 을 실시한 후 구축을 재개하기로 결정하였다. 2005 년 5 월 NGM 프로젝트의 Re-plan 이 수립되었다. 우선 Turn-key 방식의 문제점을 해소하기 위하여 SK 텔레콤이 구축의 총책임을 떠맡고, SK C&C 가 시스템 이행에 대한 책임을 지는 Governance 체제를 확립하였다. 또한 2 단계 프로젝트에서는 NGM 프로젝트를 기술적으로 원점부터 재 검토하여 이전과는 근본적으로 다른 In-House 구축 접근방식을 채택하기로 하였다. 2 단계 프로젝트에서 관심을 집중한 기술적 의사결정 영역은 크게 (1) 미들웨어 및 개발프레임워크의 적용, (2) DB 아키텍처의 결정 및 슬림화, (3) 시스템 성능 개선 등의 세 분야로 집약할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 이들 각각의 분야를 구체적으로 검토하였다. 결국 2006 년 10 월 9 일 메인프레임 기반의 COIS 는 Shut-down 되어 가동을 멈추었고, Unix 기반의 NGM 시스템이 가동을 개시함으로써 차세대 마케팅을 본격 추진하기 위한 다운사이징 프로젝트가 성공적으로 완수되었다.

Quality Characteristics of Seaweed Kimchi Containing Kjellmaniella crassifolia and Mytilus coruscus Seasoning (Kjellmaniella crassifolia와 Mytilus coruscus 조미액을 첨가한 해조김치의 품질특성)

  • In order to improve the utilization of seaweeds, two kinds of mixed seasoning concentrates (KMS, MKS) were prepared with Kjellmaniella crassifolia and Mytilus coruscus as main ingredients. Fermentation experiments were carried out at $4^{\circ}C$ for 70 days with Kimchi. As a result, SK-A showed a decrease in pH and an increase in acidity. Salinity was not significantly different after 70th day. Reducing sugar content was higher in mixed seasoning group. Lactic acid bacteria Leuconostoc sp. and Lactobacillus sp. Increased in the control group after 20 days of fermentation. The lightness was higher in the control group from the early stage of dipping to 30 days, and the degree of yellowing was higher than that of SK-B group from 20 days. The hardness of the SK-A group was high at the early stage of immersion and at 10th day. The content of aspartic acid and glutamic acid in free amino acid SK-A group was significantly higher (p<0.05). The content of sweet amino acids was significantly higher in the SK-A group on the 0th, 10th, and 30th days of fermentation than the other groups (p<0.05). The sensory test results showed that SK-A showed the most favorable taste. As a result of reviewing the above results, it is expected that SK-A group immersed in 100 g of seasoning liquid KMS made from Kjellmaniella crassifolia and Mytilus coruscus as a subordinate material will provide taste and nutrition to consumers.

Program Cache Busy Time Control Method for Reducing Peak Current Consumption of NAND Flash Memory in SSD Applications

  • In current NAND flash design, one of the most challenging issues is reducing peak current consumption (peak ICC), as it leads to peak power drop, which can cause malfunctions in NAND flash memory. This paper presents an efficient approach for reducing the peak ICC of the cache program in NAND flash memory - namely, a program Cache Busy Time (tPCBSY) control method. The proposed tPCBSY control method is based on the interesting observation that the array program current (ICC2) is mainly decided by the bit-line bias condition. In the proposed approach, when peak ICC2 becomes larger than a threshold value, which is determined by a cache loop number, cache data cannot be loaded to the cache buffer (CB). On the other hand, when peak ICC2 is smaller than the threshold level, cache data can be loaded to the CB. As a result, the peak ICC of the cache program is reduced by 32% at the least significant bit page and by 15% at the most significant bit page. In addition, the program throughput reaches 20 MB/s in multiplane cache program operation, without restrictions caused by a drop in peak power due to cache program operations in a solid-state drive.

Anti-Diabetic Effect of Sericultural Product in High Fat Diet-Fed Mice (고지방식이급여 마우스에서 잠상산물의 항당뇨 효능)

  • The objective of this study was to identify and compare the anti-diabetic effects of mulberry leave (ML), silkworm (SK), mulberry fruit (MF), and Cudrania tricuspidata BUREAU (CT) extracts in high fat diet (HFD)-induced obese and diabetic mice. C57BL/6N mice were assigned to six groups: normal diet (ND, n=7), HFD (n=10), HFD with 5% ML powder (ML, n=10), HFD with 2% SK powder (SK, n=10), HFD with 5% MF powder (MF, n=10), and HFD with 5% CT powder (CT, n=10). Mice were fed their assigned diet for 14 weeks. ML group showed significant reduction in levels of plasma glucose and insulin compared with the HFD group. Plasma total cholesterol (T-C) was significantly reduced by ML and SK compared with the HFD group. Plasma high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and HTR (HDL-C to T-C ratio) levels of the ML, SK, MF, and CT groups were significantly elevated compared to the HFD group. Moreover, concentrations of hepatic T-C and triglycerides in the ML, SK, MF, and CT groups were significantly reduced in comparison to the HFD group. Levels of pAKT, pS6K, and pAMPK significantly increased in the ML group compared with the HFD group. Taken together, ML appears to be the most potent anti-diabetic and anti-dyslipidemic substance among sericultural products. ML could be developed as a potential agent for diabetes and its complication management.

Effects of Extraction Methods of Medicinal Plants on Human Growth of Neuroblastoma SK-N-SH Cells (추출방법에 따른 한약재의 인체신경모세포 SK-N-SH 보호 효과)

  • Extraction methods of medicinal plants were evaluated for growth enhancing effects of human neuroblastoma SK-N-SH cells. Hot-water extraction (reflux for 5 hr), hot-water extraction post treatment (100$^{\circ}C$ or 120$^{\circ}C$, 90 min) and ethanol extraction (reflux for 5 hr) methods were applied to Angelica gigas, Rhemania glutinosa, Paeonia lactiflora and Cnidium officinale samples to extract their constituents. Cells were treated for 2 hr with various concentrations of extracts (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 ${\mu}g/{\mu}l}$ media) prior to $H_2O_2$ (250 ${\mu}M$) treatment for 2 hr to provide oxidative stress. Cell viability, caspase-3 expression and apoptosis were measured for cells treated with sample extracts. Hot-water extract exhibited a stronger growth enhancing and apoptosis protecting ability than other extracts. These activities were shown at less than 1 ${\mu}g/{\mu}l}$ concentration, and not greater than 2 ${\mu}g/{\mu}l}$ concentration. Hot-water extract contained more polyphenolic compounds than other extracts coming along with stronger antioxidant activity. The efficacy of antioxidant activity was stronger in the hot-water extract of Angelica gigas than other hot-water extracts of medicinal plants. These results suggest that hot-water extraction is an appropriate method to extract materials for growth enhancing and apoptosis protection of SK-N-SH cells, and hot-water extracts of Angelica gigas might be useful materials for protection from aging brain cells.

Their $CO_2$ laser weldability were primarily tested under various welding condition. SPCC and SUS304 thin sheets showed good weldability under some welding condition. But, high carbon steel sheet SK5M needs heat treatment after welding to obtain higher tensile strength and ductility of the welded joint. And next, laser welding condition. Butt-welded specimens were not nearly broken at weld bead. However, base material were ruptured in the direction of circumference. The forming depths by tailor weld bead. However, base material were ruptured in the direction of circumference. The forming depths by tailor welded blank were SPCC+SPCC=22~25mm, SUS304+SUS304=25~43mm and SK5M+SK5M=13~17mm.
