승용차 시트용 폼의 진동전달율 최소화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Minimization of Transmissibility of Seat Foam in Passenger Vehicles)

  • One of the most important factor for the comfort of the passenger vehicles is the minimization of the compressible transmissibility during the running vehicles. Seat foam materials of I2 series(index 95 and the contents of isocyanate TDI was changed in percentages 75, 70, 65, 60, 50, 40) and DI series(density 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$, index was changed 100, 95, 90) showed the significant differences in their transmissibility depended upon their chemical constitution such as index and contents of isocyanate TDI. The minimum trasmissibility of seat foam materials of I2 series was found from the materials with the contents of 65% isocyanate TDI and the index 95 at the frequency 4.79~5.31Hz. Also the minimum transmissibility of seat foam materials of DI series was found from the materials with the index 90 and the density of 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the frequency of 4.79~5.31Hz.

Virtual Seat Method를 이용한 승용차량 시트의 정차시 진동에 대한 승차감 평가 (Evaluation of Ride Comfort of the Passenger Vehicle Seat on Idle Vibration by Virtual Seat Method)

  • Virtual seat method(VSM) which is an evaluation method combined objective and subjective process is used in this study in order to determine seat comfort index of idle vibration of passenger vehicle. The VSM is implemented by two steps which are for objective index in the first step and for subjective estimation in the second step. In the study, two seats mounted on passenger vehicle was compared in terms of dynamic seat comfort by six subjects employed for the VSM method as well as SEAT value which is a conventional objective method. It is concluded that the dynamic comfort index by the VSM is more reliable than the SEAT value thanks to adding subjective evaluation on top of the objective result.

  • The purpose of this study is developing the quantify the seat belt pulling Noise index and evaluation method. This paper presents the objective method to evaluate the emotional feeling about the pulling Noise of the seat belt. The physical quantification is required to objectively evaluate the emotional feeling of the pulling Noise. This is called the "Noise metric." The Noise metric is should correlated to the subjective rating of the pulling Noise. The pulling Noise index is developed throughout the linear regression of the Noise metric and the subjective rating. The developed index is used for the objective evaluation of the emotional feeling about the pulling Noise of a seat belt throughout the modification of seat belt components.

DESIGN GUIDELINE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF DYNAMIC COMFORT OF A VEHICLE SEAT AND ITS APPLICATION

  • This study proposes an innovative design guideline to assist the evaluation and improvement of the dynamic comfort of vehicle seating. The existing evaluation method for the comfort of vehicle seating was investigated to broach problems in evaluation. It was found that the currently existing evaluation method employs the resonance frequency of the vibration system composed of the seat and the human body and the maximum vibration transmissibility. This study proposes a design guideline aimed at the enhancement of vibration transmission characteristics above the resonance range, particularly within the range of 10-18 Hz. In order to meet this guideline, a seat was constructed out of foam having a low damping coefficient. It was then installed in a vehicle for a driving test. The driving test confirmed the improvement of the dynamic comfort of the seat. The result of evaluation of the improved seat using the SEAT index, an industry standard widely used to evaluate the dynamic comfort of a seat considering the perceptivity characteristics of the human body, showed that the perceptive vibration transmission had reduced by more than $11\%$. The effect of the modification of seat foam was also verified through a subjective assessment of dynamic comfort of the seats.

시트-인체 해석 모델링과 차량 주행 시험을 통한 차량 승차감 평가와 시트 지수의 비교 및 분석 (Comparison and Analysis for Evaluation of Ride and SEAT Index through Theoretical Seat-Human Body Model and Vehicle Test)

  • A simplified model of seat-human body is presented to analyze vibrations of human body on a seat of vehicle. The theoretical model having seven degrees-of-freedom is composed of the inter-connected masses, springs and dampers. Until now, evaluation of ride comfort has been usually performed only through vehicle tests. This study aims to complement shortcomings of conventional vehicle tests in evaluation of ride comfort by using the theoretical model. The acceleration values of the human body are obtained from frequency response functions of the theoretical model. Thereafter, Ride and SEAT indexes are acquired by considering response characteristics of the human body for the 12 axes that are presented in BS 6841. A vehicle test is carried out to measure the acceleration values for the three parts of the human body such as upper body, hip and foot. Ride and SEAT indexes of the vehicle test are also obtained by considering the response characteristics of the human body, of which results are compared with the values from the theoretical model. It is found that the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results.

  • 오늘날 공학과 기술은 스포츠 분야에 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 스포츠의 속성인 경쟁은 스포츠선수 뿐만이 아니라 스포츠용품에 있어서도 보다 높은 성능을 요구하게 된다. 특히 모터스포츠분야는 성능과 안전이라는 측면에서 오래전부터 스포츠와 기술의 융합이 자연스럽게 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모터스포츠와 일반 자동차튜닝 시장을 겨냥한 카본 버킷 시트(Bucket seat)의 개발을 위하여 유한요소해석을 통해 구조강도 평가를 시행하였다. FIA($F\acute{e}d\acute{e}ration$ Internationale de l'Automobile)의 규정을 기본 설계와 강도평가에 적용하였으며, 복합소재의 특성을 고려한 유한요소 모델링과 CFRP 라미네이트(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Laminate)의 적층각도와 적층수에 따른 시트의 강도를 Tsai-Wu Failure index를 구하여 평가하였다. 해석 결과 3mm의 폼코어를 적용한 $[0^{\circ}/30^{\circ}/60^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/-30^{\circ}/-60^{\circ}]_4$인 적층이 다른 실험조합에 비하여 무게와 강도 면에서 만족할 만한 성능을 나타내고 있어 최적 적층으로 선정하였다.

The Effects of Seat Surface Inclination on Forward Reaching in Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy

  • Purpose: Impaired reaching movement is commonly observed in children with cerebral palsy. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the inclination of seat surface can influence the reaching movement in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: The subjects were 31 children, 16 children with spastic bilateral CP and 15 typically developing (TD) children. The children performed static sitting and forward reaching under three conditions: a horizontal seat surface (Horizontal $0^{\circ}$), a seat surface inclined anterior 15 degrees (Ant $15^{\circ}$), and a seat surface inclined posterior 15 degrees (Post $15^{\circ}$). A 3-axis accelerometer ('ZSTAR3') was used for analysis of the reaching movement. A 3-axis accelerometer was attached on the manubrium of the sternum, lateral epicondyle of the humerus, and styloid process of the ulna. We measured the reaction time, movement time, and data amount during reaching the 8 cm target with an index finger on the three inclined seat surfaces. Results: Reaction time and movement time for CPs showed significant delay; comparing the TD's and CP's amount was significantly greater than the TD's during reaching task (p<0.05). In particular, CP's reaction time and movement time on a seat surface inclined Ant $15^{\circ}$ was significantly more delayed compared with the other seat surfaces (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our results suggest that seat-inclination intervention may provide an ergonomic approach for children with spastic cerebral palsy.

시트 동특성을 고려한 인체 진동 해석 (Human Body Vibration Analysis under Consideration of Seat Dynamic Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 차량에 적용되는 시트 재질인 폴리우레탄 폼의 점탄성 특성을 고려하여 시트와 인체의 진동특성을 시험 및 수치해석 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 압축 시험을 통해 폴리우레탄 폼의 점탄성 특성인 비선형성과 준-정역학적 특성을 구하였다. 또한 컨벌루션 적분법 및 비선형 강성 모델을 이용하여 폴리우레탄 폼의 점탄성 특성을 수학적으로 모델링하였다. 시트의 승차감 기여도를 분석하기 위하여 시트의 동역학 모델과 ISO5982의 표준 인체 수직진동 모델을 이용하여 수직 진동모델을 구성하고 관련 운동방정식을 유도하였다. 비선형 운동방정식은 Runge-Kutta 적분법을 이용하여 수치해석 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 철도차량의 차체 바닥에서 측정한 진동가속도 입력에 대한 시트와 인체의 응답 특성을 분석하고 시트 설계 파라미터에 대한 승차감 지수 값들의 변화를 분석하여 시트 설계에 대한 방법론을 제시하고자 한다.

차량 아이들 감성진동 평가를 위한 진동평가지수의 연구 (Development of Vibration Index for the Objective Evaluations of Idle Vibration Quality in a Passenger Car)

  • Driver's feeling is variously affected by lots of components such as engine, frame, wheels, and seats during the operation of automobiles. The main objective of this research is to identify the correlation between subjective evaluation and vibration metrics that was set by ISO to investigate development of the car vibration quality index using multiple linear regressions(MLR). A previous research related with automotive vibration quality used the method of calculating acceleration values of the point of a seat, a seat back, foot as RMS for objective evaluation. The automotive comfort is determined by RMS values. In comparison with the previous research, this study includes not only the vibration metrics, but also subjective values by jury evaluation. By indentifying the correlation between subjective evaluation and vibration metrics, the automotive vibration quality index is developed through MLR. Based on the results of this study, the proposed the automotive vibration quality index which developed through MLR will be helpful to obtain objective and reliable automotive comfort values.
