1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Contitutions. Now We are developing 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus to analyse the facial characteristics. This apparatus show us 3D image of man's face and measure facial figure. We should examine accuracy of position recognition in 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus. 2. Methods We took a photograph of Face status with Land Mark 8 times using Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus. Each taking-photo, We span Face statusby 10 degree. At last time, We took a photograph of Face status's lateral face. And We analysed Error Averige of Distance between seven Land Marks. So We examined the accuracy of position recognition in 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus at indirectly in degree changing of Face status. 3. Results and Conclusions According to degree change of Face status, Error Averige of Distance between Seven Land Marks is 0.1848mm. In conclusion, We assessed that accuracy of position recognition in 3D Face Automatic Recognition Apparatus is considerably good in spite of degree changing of Face status

We wanted to classify the food constitutionally. That was used to make the constitutional diet plan. And we checked through the clinical test. So the food was classified constitutionally by Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). Constitutional diet plan was considered to Nutrition and Constitution. The clinical trial(use Taeumin diet plan) had performed during 8 weeks. We checked the Health and Nutrition condition. As the result, the Taeumin diet plan didn't change the health and nutrition condition of each constitution in good health. That could be presumed that constitution diet plan do not harm to healthy person.

There are four types (So-Eum, So-Yang, Tae-Eum, Tae-Yang type) in Sasang constitutional medicine (SCM). In SCM, not only people but also herbal medicine are classified into four types. To date, there has been very little evidence of experimental classifications in SCM. So, we adapted Issatchenkia orientalis in two different culture media made from the herbal medicines for So-Eum and for So-Yang type. And the adapted Issatchenkia orientalis was inoculated into another eight culture media made from the herbal medicines for So-Eum and for So-Yang type. The mass reduction was measured every 12 hours for 2 days. Then, we analyzed the statistical differences of herbal medicines for So-Eum and for So-Yang type. There were significant differences of variables (R: rate of change in mass reduction, S: convex degree of mass reduction graph) in herbal medicine media for So-Eum (p=0.001, 0.001, respectively.). Suggesting a microbiological method of Sasang medicine research, current study may contribute to the establishment of experimental Sasang constitutional herbal medicine.

1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Constitution. We are developing 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) to analyse the facial characteristics. This apparatus show us 3D image and data of man's face and measure facial figure data. So we should examine the figure restoration error of 3D Automatic Fare Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) in hardware Error Analysis. 2. Methods We scanned Face status by using 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA). And also we scanned Face status by using laser scanner(vivid 9i). We compared facial shape data be restored by 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) with facial shape data that be restorated by 3D laser scanner. And we analysed the average error and the maximum error of two data. 3. Results and Conclusions In frontal face, the average error was 0.48mm. and the maximum error was 4.60mm. In whole face, the average error of was 0.99mm. And the maximum error was 6.64mm. In conclusion, We assessed that accuracy of 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) is considerably good.

1. Objectives This research is purposed to find Lee Je-Ma's thought on Inclination of Mind(心慾) and Nature & Emotion(性情), through summarizing sentences related to Inclination of Mind(心慾) and Nature & Emotion(性情) proposed in the chief writings on Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Methods It was researched bibliologically with Lee Je-Ma's chief writings such as "Gyukchigo (Draft on Inquiring the Properties of Things, 格致藁)", "Dongyi Suse Bowon Sasang Chobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)" "Dongyi Suse Bowon (Longevity and Life Preservation in Oriental Medicine, 東醫壽世保元)". 3. Results and Conclusions (1) Lee Je-Ma's Mind(心) is the dimension of the Great Absolute(Taegeuk,太極), and is related with Benevolence-Righteousness-Propriety-Wisdom(仁義禮智) (2) Human being is classified Taeyangin(太陽人), Taeumin(太陰人), Soyangin(少陽人), Soeumin(少陰人) by SungLi(性理), and The Mean(鄙人), TheWeek(薄人), The Avaricious(貪人), The Sycophantic(懦人) by JungYok(情慾) in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. (3) Nature & Emotion(性情) of Sorrow-Anger-Joy-Pleasure(喜怒哀樂) is divided into two function. One is native function related with SungLi(性理), the other is acquired function related with JungYok(情慾). Also all two native and acquired function is related with Benevolence-Righteousness-Propriety-Wisdom(仁義禮智). (4) The Mean(鄙人), The Week(薄人), The Avaricious(貪人), The Sycophantic(懦人) may be defined as the state of Inclination of Mind(心慾) of Taeyangin(太陽人), Taeumin(太陰人), Soyangin(少陽人), Soeumin(少陰人) by function of acquired Emotion(情).

1. Objectives and Methods A Study on the Characteristics of the Korean Adult Male Sound according to Sasang Constitution using PSSC with a Sentence. Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) is the one of the traditional Korean Medicine. It classifies people into four categories like Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeumin and Soeumin. The rule to classify is Appearance and Body Shape, Facial Appearance and Speech, Character and Talents and Diseases and Medications. This study was done to investigate the relationships between Voice and Sound parameters using PSSC(Phonetic System of Sasang Constitution) in a sentence. Experimental Participants were 195 Korean adult males including 1 Taeyangin, 37 Soyangin, 105 Taeumin and 52 Soeumin. Sasang Constitutional specialist used PSSC and Korean Medical Diagnosis to classify participants into four constitution. 2. Results In Pitch segment, Soyangin's Center freq.(4) was significantly high compared with Taeyangin and Taeumin groups. Soyangin's and Soeumin's Center freq.(6) was significantly high compared with Taeyangin and Taeumin groups. In APQ segment and Octave segment, there were no significant differences among four groups. In Shimmer segment, Taeumin's F Shimmer(1) and F Shimmer(2) were significantly high compared with Taeyangin and Soyangin groups. In Energy segment, Taeyangin's 2k-4k total sum, 2k-4k dev., C dev., C# dev. and D S.D. were significantly high compared with other groups. In Recording time segment, there was no significant difference among four groups. More Taeyangin cases and the other parameters are needed to determine constitution using PSSC and to make PSSC effective. 3. Conclusions From above result, there is the possibility of efficiency standard guide for constitution diagnosis by analyzation og voice.

1. Objectives: In SCM, a personal Sasang constitution must be determined accurately before any Sasang treatment. The purpose of this study is to develop an objective method for classification of Sasang constitution. 2. Methods: We collected samples from 5 centers where SCM is practiced, and applied two-stage decision tree analysis on these samples. We recruited samples from 5 centers. The collected data were from subjects whose response to herbal medicine was confirmed according to Sasang constitution. 3. Results: The two-stage decision tree model shows higher classification power than a simple decision tree model. This study also suggests that gender must be considered in the first stage to improve the accuracy of classification. 4. Conclusions: We identified important factors for classifying Sasang constitutions through two-stage decision tree analysis. The two-stage decision tree model shows higher classification power than a simple decision tree model.

Objectives This research was performed to establish the clinical practice guideline(CPG) for Lesser Yin Symptomatology of Soeumin disease. Methods Dongeui suse bowon(sinchuk edition), textbook for Sasang constitutional medicine, Clinical guidebook for Sasang constitutional medicine, and standardization reports on Sasang constitutional medicine and papers concerning symptomatology of Soeumin Disease, especially Lesser Yin Symptomatology was collected and classified. Additionally experts' conference was held to make agreement on the conflicting issues on a regular basis. Results & Conclusions There was no concerning paper on Lesser Yin Symptomatology. Experts' agreement was needed to establish the CPG. Lesser Yin pattern can be classified into 2 groups; Lesser Yin severe pattern and Lesser Yin critical pattern. There are Lesser Yin pattern accompanied abdominal pain and bowel irritability pattern and Lesser Yin pattern accompanied green tinged watery diarrhea pattern in Lesser Yin severe pattern. There are Visceral syncope pattern and Exuberant yin repelling yang pattern in Lesser Yin critical pattern. Lesser Yin symptomatology has several symptoms like abdominal pain and diarrhea, thirst, oral discomfort, chest discomfort, whole body pain, articular pain and coldness of hands and feet. Additionally there are abdominal pain and diarrhea in Lesser Yin symptomatology accompanied abdominal pain and bowel irritability pattern, there is green tinged watery diarrhea in Lesser Yin pattern accompanied green tinged watery diarrhea pattern and if this symptoms exacerbate, delirious speech and constipation can occur. There are restlessness and coldness on hands and feet in Visceral syncope pattern and severe restlessness and coldness on hands and feet and symptom which the patient cannot drink water in Exuberant yin repelling yang.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of Metabolic syndrome(MetS) and Intima-media thickness(IMT) of common carotid artery with Sasang constitution. 2. Methods 197 subjects who had taken health examinations and diagnosis of Sasang constitution from Jan 1, 2006 to Dec 31, 2006 at East-west health examination center of Kyung-Hee medical center were included and underwent B-mode ultrasonography for measurement of intima-media thickness of common carotid arteries. MetS was defined by the criteria of the criteria of the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III. 3. Results and Conclusions Mean intima-media thickness of common carotid artery was significantly higher in subjects with MetS compared with control subjects($0.070{\pm}0.017$ vs $0.063{\pm}0.014cm$) and a significant trend towards increased IMT was observed with increasing numbers of metabolic syndrome components(r=0.331, p=0.000). After adjustment for age and sex, IMT of common carotid arteries was significantly different among three constitutional groups (Soyangin:$0.065{\pm}0.015cm$, Taeumin:$0.068{\pm}0.016cm$, Soeumin:$0.056{\pm}0.010cm$), however, after adjustment for age, sex and existence of metabolic syndrome, there was no significant different. But, factor of Taeumin was the effective determinant of the increase of mean IMT of common carotid arteries.

Objectives . The types of Sasang constitutional medicine (SCM) have definite effect on response to herbal drugs. The majority of human P45O dependent xenobiotic metabolism is carried out by polymorphic enzymes which can cause abolished, altered or enhanced metabolism. Therefore, we evaluated the relation of major CYP2C19, 2D6 polymorphism with Sasang types. Methods : 214 healthy subjects were recruited with informed consent; 172 among them had Sasang diagnosis by QSCC2. CYP2D6, 2C19 polymorphism were determined by PCR-RFLP method. Results : None of the Sasang types showed significant difference in CYP2D6, 2C19 polymorphism. However, the Tae-um type showed relatively low frequency of CYP2D6 $^{*}$10/$^{*}$10 polymorphisms with low activity (p=0.110). In the So-yang type, specific $^{*}$3/$^{*}$3 genotype which is a poor metabolizer of CYP2C19$^{*}$3 was detected (p=0.078).Conclusion . These results suggest that the Tae-um type which is said to have high liver function in SCM has the tendency of high drug-metabolizing enzyme activity. With further study, the CYP polymorphism could serve as a scientific tool for SCM diagnosis.
