Optimal WAMS Configuration in Nordic Power System

  • The Smart grids are considered as multi-disciplinary power systems where the communication networks are highly employed. This paper presents optimal wide area measurement system (WAMS) configuration in Nordic power system. The transition from SCADA to WAMS becomes now trend in all power systems to ensure higher reliability and data visibility. The optimization applied in this research considered the geographical regions of the Nordic power system. The research considered all the devices of WAMS namely phasor measurement units (PMUs), phasor data concentrators (PDCs) and communication links. The study also presents two scenarios for optimal WAMS namely base case and N-1 contingency as different operating conditions. The result of this research presents technical and financial results for WAMS configuration in a real power system. The optimization results are performed using MATLAB 2017a software application.

성산 풍력발전단지의 연간발전량 예측 정확도 평가 (Accuracy Assessment of Annual Energy Production Estimated for Seongsan Wind Farm)

  • In order to examine how accurately the wind farm design software, WindPRO and Meteodyn WT, predict annual energy production (AEP), an investigation was carried out for Seongsan wind farm of Jeju Island. The one-year wind data was measured from wind sensors on met masts of Susan and Sumang which are 2.3 km, and 18 km away from Seongsan wind farm, respectively. MERRA (Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications) reanalysis data was also analyzed for the same period of time. The real AEP data came from SCADA system of Seongsan wind farm, which was compare with AEP data predicted by WindPRO and Meteodyn WT. As a result, AEP predicted by Meteodyn WT was lower than that by WindPRO. The analysis of using wind data from met masts led to the conclusion that AEP prediction by CFD software, Meteodyn WT, is not always more accurate than that by linear program software, WindPRO. However, when MERRA reanalysis data was used, Meteodyn WT predicted AEP more accurately than WindPRO.

한국형 EMS 시스템의 Baseline 계통 해석용 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 데이터 모델링 (Data Modeling for Developing the Baseline Network Analysis Software of Korean EMS System)

  • This paper summarizes a data modeling for developing the baseline network analysis software of the Korean energy management system (EMS). The study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, the data for operating the each application software are extracted. Some of the EMS network application softwares are selected for basis model. Those are based on the logical functions of each software and are not considered the other softwares. Second, the common data are extracted for equipment model and topological structure of power system in Korea. We propose the application common model(ACM) that can be applied whole EMS network application softwares. The ACM model includes the hierarchy and non-hierarchy power system structure, and is connected each other using the direct and indirect link. Proposed database model is tested using the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) system. The real time SCADA data are provided for the test. Through the test, we verified that the proposed database structure can be effectively used to accomplish the Korean EMS system.

IoT 기반의 실시간 에너지 사용 데이터 수집 및 분석 시스템 개발 (A Development of Real-time Energy Usage Data Collection and Analysis System based on the IoT)

  • The development of monitoring and analysis systems to increase productivity while saving energy is needed as a method to reduce huge amount of energy consumed in the process of producing large forged products. In this paper, we propose a system to monitor and analyze energy usage in real-time collected from gas-meter, wattmeter, and thermometer based on IoT installed in forging factories. The system consists of a data collection server for collecting and processing data from IoT- based platform and existing SCADA equipment and ERP/MES system in forging factories, and an application server for providing services to users. To develop the system, the overall system structure is logically diagrammed, and the databases configuration and implementation modules to efficiently store and manage data are presented. In the future, the system will be utilized to reduce energy consumption by analyzing energy usage pattern and optimizing process works with real-time energy usage and production process data for each facility.

  • D-TRS is a method of wireless communication. This method will be able to use several frequency for multiple user used chanel together. TETRA of D-TRS technology is not rented network. Using TETRA network has the strong point which cost better than CDMA network of rental network. Master server of SCADA(Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system is realtime supervise control and a data acquire the control system or the RTU(Remote Terminal Unit). The present paper is developed and proposal the gateway platform for electronic power backbone network based on D-TRS. This gateway platform is converted DNP3.0 messages with TETRA PDU and converted TETRA PDU with DNP3.0 messages. Master server and FRTU will be able to send and receive DNP3.0 message via TETRA network using this gateway platform.

  • 2005년 유틸리티 산업분야 국제표준 규약으로서 IEC61850이 발표된 이후, 변전소 자동화 시스템 설계 및 구현을 위한 새로운 패러다임으로 인식되고 있다. 현재, 유럽시장을 중심으로 IEC61850 규약과 호환되는 많은 제품들이 출시되고 있고 다양한 구현사례를 통해 그 적용가능성 및 타당성이 검증되고 있다. 그러나, 변전소 자동화의 기본 통신규약으로서 IEC61850이 도입될 경우, 이미 기존에 설치되어 운용중인 수많은 전력설비 감시/제어 시스템 및 상위 제어센터와의 통신 호환성 문제가 발생되며, 향후, IEC61850 기반의 디지털변전소 확대 적용에 장애 요인으로 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 IEC61850 기반의 변전소자동화 용 게이트웨이 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 제안된 시스템은 기존에 운용되고 있는 전력설비 감시/제어 시스템과의 호환성 제공은 물론, 변전소 내의 IEC61850 IED들과 상위제어센터 내의 송변전 SCADA 시스템간 통신 및 상호운영성을 제공한다. 또한, 시스템의 가용성 및 신뢰성을 보장하기 위한 이중화 메커니즘을 지원한다.

  • Modern power system is operated and managed in closed network environment with treating a great variety of data, and requirement of real time power system data is more increasing. However, it is difficult for operators to fast evaluate the condition of power system using only isolation network system such as SCADA or EMS regarding unexpecting situations occurring. Recent technology achievement in areas of distributed computing, networking high speed communications and digital control as well as the availability of accurate GPS time source are rapidly becoming the enabling factors for the development of a new generation of real time power grid monitoring tools. In this paper, architecture of WAMAC which is the wide area monitoring and control system not only to control but also to monitoring in real time is proposed and the plan of integration interface with legacy system such as EMS for providing power system analysis base data effectively is suggested.

Communication Architecture of the IEC 61850-based Micro Grid System

  • As the power grids are integrated into one big umbrella called a "smart grid," communication protocol plays a key role in successful operations. The successful deployment of smart grid interoperability is a major hurdle that must be overcome. The micro grid, a small power system that distributes energy resource, is operated in diverse regions. Different vendors use different communication protocols in the operation of the micro grid. Recently, the IEC 61850 has been legislated to solve the interoperability problems in power utility automation. The present paper presents a micro grid system based on the IEC 61850 protocol. It consists of a micro grid monitoring system, a protocol converter that transforms serial data to IEC 61850 data, and distributed energy resource controllers for diverse DER nodes. A developed communication gateway can be deployed for DER controllers with serial links to exchange data with IEC 61850-based devices. The gateway can be extended to IEC 61850-based distribution automation systems, substation automation systems, or SCADA.

  • 전력 시스템의 안정적인 운용을 위해서는 현재 운전 중인 시스템에 대한 정확한 정보를 획득하는 것이 매우 중요하다. SCADA를 통해 수집된 측정데이터는 에러를 포함할 수 있으며, 이렇게 에러를 포함한 데이터를 bad data라고 한다. 상태추정기의 중요한 기능 중의 하나가 bad data의 처리이며, 이를 통해 EMS 내 각종 응용프로그램에 정확한 데이터베이스를 제공할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 개발 중인 한국형 EMS에 포함될 상태추정기의 bad data 처리 기법을 소개하고, 시험계통에 대한 사례연구를 통하여 검증하였다.

Potential of Digital Solutions in the Manufacturing Sector of the Russian Economy

  • The purpose of the article is to identify priority trends of technological innovations and strategic opportunities for using the smart potential to the benefit of the Russian industrial production development in the context of digital transformation. The article substantiates the demand for technological process automation at industrial enterprises in Russia and considers the possibilities of using artificial intelligence and the implementation of smart manufacturing in the industry. The article reveals the priorities of the leading Russian industrial companies in the field of digitalization, namely, an expansion of the use of cloud technologies, predictive analysis, IaaS services (virtual data storage and processing centers), supervisory control, and data acquisition (SCADA), etc. The authors give the characteristics of the monitoring of the smart manufacturing systems development indicators in the Russian Federation, conducted by Rosstat since 2020; presents projected data on the assessment of the required resources in relation to the instruments of state support for the development of smart manufacturing technologies for the period until 2024. The article determines targets for the development of smart technologies within the framework of the Federal Project "Digital Technologies".
