  • In this paper, a time-domain comparator is proposed for a successive approximation (SA) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a low power and high resolution. The proposed time-domain comparator consists of a voltage-controlled delay converter with a clock feed-through compensation circuit, a time amplifier, and binary phase detector. It has a small input capacitance and compensates the clock feed-through noise. To analyze the performance of the proposed time-domain comparator, two 1V 10-bit 200-kS/s SA ADCs with a different time-domain comparator are implemented by using 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal CMOS process. The measured SNDR of the implemented SA ADC is 56.27 dB for the analog input signal of 11.1 kHz, and the clock feed-through compensation circuit and time amplifier of the proposed time-domain comparator enhance the SNDR of about 6 dB. The power consumption and area of the implemented SA ADC are 10.39 ${\mu}W$ and 0.126 mm2, respectively.

  • Graphene-based saturable absorbers (SAs) are widely used as laser mode-lockers at various laser oscillators. In particular, transmission-type graphene-SAs with ultrabroad spectral coverage are typically manufactured on transparent substrates with low nonlinearity to minimize the effects on the oscillators. Here, we developed two types of transmitting graphene SAs based on CaF2 and ZnSe. Using the graphene-SA based on CaF2, a passively mode-locked mid-infrared Cr:ZnS laser delivers relatively long 540 fs pulses with a maximum output power of up to 760 mW. In the negative net cavity dispersion regime, the pulse width was not reduced further by inhomogeneous group delay dispersion (GDD) compensation. In the same laser cavity, we replaced only the graphene-SA based on CaF2 with the SA based on ZnSe. Due to the additional self-phase modulation effect induced by the ZnSe substrate with high nonlinearity, the stably mode-locked Cr:ZnS laser produced Fourier transform-limited ~130 fs near 2,340 nm. In the stable single-pulse operation regime, average output powers up to 635 mW at 234 MHz repetition rates were achieved. To our knowledge, this is the first attempt to achieve shorter pulse widths from a polycrystalline Cr:ZnS laser by utilizing the graphene deposited on the substrate with high nonlinearity.

  • This paper reviews the EU Case, Claudia Wegener v. Royal Air Maroc SA [2018] ECLI:EU:C:2018:361, Case C-537/17. It analyzes some issues as to Wegener case by examining EU Regulations and practical point of views. Article 3(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights, entitled scope, provides: "this Regulation shall apply: (a) to passengers departing from an airport located in the territory of a Member State to which the Treaty applies; (b) to passengers departing from an airport located in a third country to an airport situated in the territory of a Member State to which the Treaty applies, unless they received benefits or compensation and were given assistance in that third country, if the operating air carrier of the flight concerned is a Community carrier." ECJ held that must be interpreted as meaning that Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 applies to a passenger transport effected under a single booking and comprising, between its departure from an airport situated in the territory of a Member State and its arrival at an airport situated in the territory of a third State, a scheduled stopover outside the European Union with a change of aircraft. According to the Court, it is apparent from the regulation and case-law that when, as in the present case, two (or more) flights are booked as a single unit, those flights constitute a whole for the purposes of the right to compensation for passengers. Those flights must therefore be considered as one and the same connecting flight.

  • This paper presents a study on the linear compensation of nonlinear hysteric actuators using the highly magnetostrictive film pattern as a strain sensor. Elements had a hybrid structure, in which thin soft glass substrate with the highly magnetostrictive amorphous FeCoSiB film was bonded on the PZT piezoelectric substrate. The magnetostrictive film as a strain sensor detects the deflection of an actuator, and a voltage signal from the strain sensor related to the deflection of an actuator is used for the linear control of an actuator.

  • Effects of $Nb_2O_5$ addition ranged from 0.0 to 0.75(wt%) on the microstructure and electrical porperties of PZT ceramics have been investigated. The Pb vacancy concentration increases with increasing NbO content. However, the experimental results show the resistivity increases with increasing $Nb^{5+}$ content. This behavior can be explained as a compensation effect and $Nb^{5+}$ can serve as a donar and contribute electrons to the conduction process. According to the law of mass action, this result may reduce the total charge carrier:thus the resistivity increase with NbO content in PZT.

  • The electrical resistivity and piezoelectric properties have been studied for Lead Zirconate-Titanate(PZT) with $Nb_2O_5$ dopant, fabricated from conventional mixed-oxide powders and molten salt synthesis. The resistivity and electromechanical coupling factor(Kp) were increased with increasing Nb contents. The reason for increasing of the electrical resistivity below the Curie Temperature(Tc), It is believed that the p-type electrical conduction in PZT is caused by the lead vacancies. The electromechanical coupling factor(Kr) and piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ were improved by Nb additives. This behavior can be explained as a compensation effect and $Nb^{5+}$ can serve as a donar and contribute electrons to the conduction process. As a result, the optimized $Nb_2O_5$ dopants on the PZT specimens were 0.75 wt%.

  • This paper presents the learning controller for robot manipulators to track the desired trajectory exactly. The learning controller, based on the Lyapunov theory, consists of a fixed PD action and a repetitive action for the purpose of feedforward compensation which is adjusted utilizing a linear combination of the velocity and position errors. The learning controller Is often used In case of the desired trajectories are periodic tasks, and has advantage that it periodically converges to zero even if we don't know the exact dynamic parameters. In this paper, we show that the position and velocity errors of robot manipulators converge to zero sa time goes infinite for the input is periodic function and show a good trajectory tracking performance In the cartesian space.

  • Background: Scapular posterior tilt (SPT) is important in the prevention of abnormal scapular movement and pain during elevation of the arm. However, previous studies have overlooked increased upper trapezius (UT) muscle activity interrupting the normal force couple of scapular motion and compensation of levator scapulae (LS) muscle activated simultaneously with UT during SPT exercise. Objects: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of modified SPT with depression exercise versus SPT exercise on serratus anterior (SA), lower trapezius (LT), UT, and LS muscle activities and the clavicular tilt angle, in subjects with rounded shoulder posture (RSP) and myofascial pain in the UT muscle region. Methods: Eighteen subjects with RSP were recruited and randomly allocated to 2 groups; 9 in the SPT group and 9 in the SPT with depression group. All subjects met the specific RSP criteria and had myofascial pain of UT region. Depending on the allocated group, subjects performed the assigned SPT exercise and EMG data were recorded during the each exercise. Clavicular tilt angle was defined as the angle between the line joining the medial and lateral end of the clavicle and a horizontal line. Results: The SA muscle activity was significantly greater in SPT with depression than with SPT exercise (p<.05). The UT, LS muscle activity and the clavicular tilt angle was significantly lower in SPT with depression than with SPT exercise (p<.05). Conclusion: These findings were insightful because the potential risk of pain from overactivation of the UT and LS was considered, in contrast with SPT exercise. SPT with depression exercise can be implemented as an effective method to facilitate scapular muscle activity for stability and to prevent myofascial pain in the neck and shoulder.

  • The main goal of this paper is to design a high performance SVP(Stack based Video Processor) for network applications. The SVP is a comprehensive scheme; 'better' in the sense that it is an optimal selection of previously proposed enhancements of a stack machine and a video processor. This can process effectively object-based video data using a S-RISC(Stack-based Reduced Instruction Set Computer) with a semi -general-purpose architecture having a stack buffer for OOP(Object-Oriented Programming) with many small procedures at running programs. And it includes a vector processor that can improve the MPEG coding speed. The vector processor in the SVP can execute advanced mode motion compensation, motion prediction by half pixel and SA-DCT(Shape Adaptive-Discrete Cosine Transform) of MPEG-4. Absolutors and halfers in the vector processor make this architecture extensive to a encoder. We also designed a VLSI stack-oriented video processor using the proposed architecture of stack-oriented video decoding. It was designed with O.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ 3LM standard-cell technology, and has 110K logic gates and 12 Kbits SRAM internal buffer. The operating frequency is 50MHz. This executes algorithms of video decoding for QCIF 15fps(frame per second), maximum rate of VLBV(Very Low Bitrate Video) in MPEG-4.

  • In case of C-410/11, Pedro Espada $S\acute{a}nchez$ and Others v Iberia $L\acute{i}neas$ $A\acute{e}reas$ de $Espa\tilde{n}a$ SA., ECLI:EU:C:2012:747, the passengers of a flight between Barcelona and Paris, whose baggage had been lost, lodged a claim before a Spanish court, asking for compensation. More specifically, the claimants were a family of four (two adults and two children), and had stored all their personal items in two suitcases, which had been checked in and tagged but never returned to the passengers in question. The four claimants relied on the Montreal Convention, ratified by the EU, which provides that each passenger can claim up to 1,000 SDRs in compensation (i.e. ${\euro}1,100$) in case his or her baggage is lost; thus, they sought to recover ${\euro}4,400$ (4,000 SDRs, i.e. 1,000 SDRs x4). The preliminary reference issue raised by the Spanish court to the CJEU regarded the $Montr\acute{e}al$ Convention's correct interpretation; in particular, it asked whether compensation should be available only to passengers whose lost baggage had been checked in "in their own name" or whether it is also available to passengers whose personal items had been stored in the (lost) baggage of a different passenger. The CJEU held that compensation had to be granted to all passengers whose items had been lost, regardless of whether these had been stored in baggage checked in "in their own name." In fact, it maintained that the real aim of the $Montr\acute{e}al$ convention is to provide passenger-consumers with protection for the loss of their personal belongings, so the circumstance of where these were being carried is not relevant. Nevertheless, the CJEU clarified that it is for national courts to assess the evidence regarding the actual loss of an item stored in another passenger's baggage, and maintained that the fact that a group of people were travelling together as a family is a factor that may be taken into account.
