Effect of High Dietary Copper on the Morphology of Gastro-Intestinal Tract in Broiler Chickens

  • An experiment was conducted to study the effects of high dietary copper supplementation on the gastrointestinal tract morphology of broiler chickens. Eighty 3-week-old broiler chicks were divided randomly into eight groups of four dietary treatments and over three week were fed isoenergetic and isonitrogenous diets that contained 0, 100, 250, or 500 mg/kg of supplemental copper from cupric sulfate. The copper supplementation in the broiler diet up to 250 mg/kg did not significantly influence broilers' performance. A high dietary copper supplementation of 500 mg/kg did significantly depress growth and feed conversion in the broilers (p<0.05). Copper supplementation more than 250 mg/kg in the broiler diet significantly influenced the morphology of the GI tract, as shown by severe oral lesions and gizzard erosion. It also significantly depressed the villi height and significantly thickened the muscular layer in the duodenum (p<0.05). The severely damaged villi were observed by scanning electronic microscope from the duodenum samples of broilers fed a 500 mg/kg copper supplemented diet. The 500 mg/kg copper supplemented diet also significantly influenced the plasma constituents. Plasma glucose concentration was significantly depressed (p<0.05).

  • 이 연구는 nano-indenter를 중심으로 박막의 nano-electrotribology 분석 연구로 Hafnium Nitride (HfN) 박막의 열처리 시 열적안정성에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. HfN 박막은 Copper (Cu)와 Silicon (Si)의 계면 확산방지막으로 사용될 수 있는 박막으로 현재 많은 연구소에서 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. HfN 박막은 Si (100)기판 위에 rf magnetron sputter로 증착되었다. 증착 시 Ar, $N_2$ 가스유량을 총 40 sccm 사용하였고 증착 후 HfN 박막을 질소분위기 furnace에서 500, $700^{\circ}C$로 각각 30분 동안 열처리 하였다. 열처리 전 후의 시료를 nano-indenter를 이용하여 nano-electrotribology 분석을 실시하였다. Nano-indenter 측정결과 열처리 전 HfN 박막 시료의 표면강도는 39.68 GPa였고 500oC 열처리 후 31.31 GPa로 감소하였다. 그러나 $700^{\circ}C$ 열처리 시 표면강도가 37.89 GPa로 다시 증가하였다. 탄성계수 측정결과도 이와 같은 경향을 나타내었는데, $500^{\circ}C$ 열처리 전 후 탄성계수가 258.99 GPa에서 201.88 GPa로 감소하였고 $700^{\circ}C$ 열처리 시 247.55 GPa로 다시 증가하였다. 이는 $500^{\circ}C$ 열처리하였을 때 박막 내에 흡착되었던 $N_2$ 가스가 빠져나가며 tensile stress가 발생하여 박막의 표면강도 감소를 유발했고 $700^{\circ}C$ 열처리 시 다시 박막 표면이 안정화되었기 때문으로 생각된다. 이를 통해 열처리 온도 변화에 의한 질소효과가 나타나 HfN 박막 표면의 물성이 달라지는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The emission of $NO_{x}$ during coal combustion is a major reason of environment impact. $NO_{x}$ is an acid rain precursor and participates in the generation of smog through ozone production. $NO_{x}$ can be divided into thermal $NO_{x}$, fuel $NO_{x}$ and prompt $NO_{x}$. Thermal $NO_{x}$ is formed in a highly temperature condition dependent. Fuel $NO_{x}$ is dependent on the local combustion characteristics and initial concentration of nitrogen bound compound, while prompt $NO_{x}$ is formed in a significant quantity in some combustion environments, such as low temperature and short residence times. This paper presents numerical simulation of the flow and combustion characteristics in the furnace of a tangential firing boiler of 500MW with burners installed at the every comer of the furnace. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the reduction of $NO_{x}$ emission in a 500MW pulverized coal tangential firing boiler with different OFA's and burner angles. Calculations with different air flow rates of over fired air(OFA) and burner angles are performed.

Spatial Analysis of White-naped Crane(Grus vipio) Habitats in the Han-River Estuary with GIS application (GIS를 이용한 재두루미의 한강 하구 서식지 이용에 대한 공간 분석)

  • The habitat composition in the Han-river estuary, where white-naped crane(Grus vipio; endangered migrating bird) spend winter, was analysed by the geographic information system(GIS). And the habitat use pattern of white-naped crane collected by satellite tracking method was analysed. The % composition of seven habitat categories of land cover classification was compared for the buffers of radii 100 m, 200 m, 500 m, and 1 km, respectively, around the white-naped crane position point(n=228), and the statistical analysis was done using chi-square test. The results showed no selective use of habitat area by white-naped crane in the buffers of 100 m, 200 m and 500 m, but showed clear selection of habitat use (p < 0.05) in the case of 1 km buffer.

  • The above results of clinical medication about Kwangdongtang and KG-500 were not done saparately but were done as the assistant way at the same time when nerbmedication(sangjae, tangjae, extractjae) was medicated From the point of lmpro vement of symptom, clinical pathologic test. patient's feeling, synthetic efficiency decision, safety degree, usefullness degree, it is thought that KG-500 is more useful than kwangdongtang at any aspect.

  • In this paper, a 6~13 GHz ultra high speed frequency synthesizer having minimum 30 kHz step size and minimum 500 ns frequency settling time is proposed. In order to obtain fast settling time, fine resolution, and good phase noise performance, wideband output frequencies were synthesized based on DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) and analog direct frequency synthesis technology. The phase noise performance of wideband frequency synthesizer was estimated by the superposition theory and its results were compared with measured ones. The measured frequency settling time was below 500 ns, phase noise was below -106 dBc @ 10 kHz at 13 GHz, and frequency accuracy was measured below ${\pm}2kHz$.

  • Recently, the principal processes of T/L design tend to computerize and therefore integrated T/L design system has been developed. Since, it makes the automatic selection of T/L route, tower position and optimum design possible, computerized design method is applied all over the world. KEPCO introduced Optimal PowerLINE for T/L design in Myanmar 500kV project that is as a part of overseas project. And as a result of that work, effective and economical design was carried out. This paper presents the comparative analysis between Previous method and Optimal PowerLINE method for investigating practical application to Myanmar 500kV T/L design.

Effects of Root-knot Nematode, Meliodogyne hapla, on Growth and Yield of Pepper and Tomato (당근혹선충이 고추와 토마토의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne hapla, on the growth and yields of hot-pepper (var.: Cheongyong gochu) and tomato$(var.:\;Bogsu\;\#)$ were studied with inoculating 500, 2,500, 5,000, 7,500, 10,000 and 20,000 nematodes per plant in pots. Results were analyzed with comparing weight of fruits harvested throughout the season from both hot-pepper and tomato, and with mineral contents in dried stoots and roots of pepper plant 20 weeks after the inoculation. No significant difference was found on the plant growth at all levels of inoculation until the 8th week after the inoculation. However, the plant growth was significantly depressed from the 12th week in the pots inoculated with over 10,000 nematodes, and the yields were reduced by $16\%$ in hot-pepper and $14\%$ in tomato respectively when 10,000 nematodes were inoculated.

  • The resistance of metallic materials to ballistic penetration generally depends on a number of parameters related to projectile, impact, and armor plate. Recently, armor materials have been required to have various properties such as hardness, strength, and impact toughness in order to maintain an excellent ballistic resistance even after impact. In the present study, the influence of tempering on the microstructure and mechanical properties of an ARMOX 500T armor steel plate was investigated and then compared with those of S45C and SCM440 steels. As the tempering temperature increased, the hardness and strength gradually decreased, whereas the ductility and impact toughness clearly increased because the hardness, tensile, and impact properties were affected by the microstructural evolution and precipitation occurring during tempering. On the other hand, temper embrittlement appeared at tempering temperatures of 300 to $400^{\circ}C$ for the impact specimens tested at low temperature.

Changes in the Constituents of Citrus Juice by Ultrafiltration (한외여과에 의한 온주 밀감주스의 성분 변화)

  • The citrus juice obtained from Jeju mandarines, Citru unshiu, was filtered to remove 20% of its original volume through the hollow fiber ultrafiltration systems equipped with various pore sizes of membranes. As the results of ultrafiltration, the contents of total acids, ascorbic acid, ascorbic acid, free sugars and neohesperidin in retentate showed the tendencies of gradual decreases with the increase of membrane pore sizes from 10K to 100K daltons, but tendencies were inverted when the membrane with 500k was used. The changes of color, soluble solids, total nitrogen, amino-nitrogen, naringin and hesperidin were not consistent with the membrane pore size. Considering all the data obtained using various pen sizes of membranes, the filtration system with NMWC 500K daltons was the most effective to produce citrus juices with hither quality.
