  • This paper presents an analyzing method of the distortion factor of the output voltage in generator on the basis of the stator coil flux linkage calculation. In the simulation, 2 dimensional finite clement method is used considering the rotor movement. As an application of the proposed method, we calculated the harmonics of air gap flux and the output voltage in the 150KW class synchronous generator.

Economic Analysis of the Livestock Manure Treatment System Using Life-Cycle Cost Technique (LCC 기법을 통한 가축분뇨처리시설의 경제성 분석)

  • To assess the total cost with all stages of facilities, the feasibility of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis was examined in this study to estimate the livestock manure treatment system and optimal decision making process. For the economic evaluation, the plant/equipment investment and annual operation cost of four Public Livestock Recycling Facilities, whose treatment capacity is 100 ton piggery manure per day, was compared. The initial cost was in the range of 2,699 million won to 3,202 million won, where T and E methods were highest and lowest, respectively. The annual operation cost was in the level of 378 million to 498 million won, which decreased in the following order : T method > J method > E method > B method. For the LCC analysis, 4.7% of interest rate, 3.13% of inflation rate, and 1.52% of net discount rate was considered by the data received from Bank of Korea and Statics Korea in the period of 2000 to 2009. Also, for the calculation of present value factor, the durable years of civil engineering & construction, machinery and electric instrument was 30 years, 10 years and 15 years, respectively. Based on these consideration, operation cost was in the range of 17,570 won/ton to 20,661 won/ton, and E method (17,570 won/ton) was economical and B method (20,661 won/ton) was non-economical. Though initial cost of T method was higher than that of B method, LCC analysis of T method was lower than that of T method due to the lower operation cost. Therefore, LCC analysis, which considers both initial cost and operation cost, is more reasonable evaluation method than either initial cost or annual operation cost. For the change of LCC analysis according to the uncertainty, the sensitivity analysis was carried out using fluctuation magnitude of discount rate in the period of 2000 to 2009. As a result, LCC analysis evaluated by discount rate was stable for the uncertain factors since the cost leadership did not change even though the sensitivity analysis varied. In summary, the economic evaluation using LCC analysis could be an efficient reference to choose the suitable livestock manure treatment plants. Furthermore, standardization of statement calculation for the actual cost analysis should be conducted and more detailed study is necessary to validate this summary. Therefore, the application of comprehensive technology evaluation, which considers LCC analysis, should contribute in obtaining objectivity and enhancing reliability for the 'Evaluation of Livestock Manure Treatment System and its Technology'.

  • Automotive parts manufacturers are doing their best to strengthen the competitiveness. They are developing a large variety of new manufacturing technologies to reduce the manufacturing cost. Combined One Body Stamping(C.O.B.S) is one of the remarkable technologies to reduce production cost. C.O.B.S makes possible to form several parts together in a process using only one die set while conventional stamping demands the same number of die sets to the number of parts. But the deformation mechanism in C.O.B.S is more complicated because the interactions between blanks. So the interaction effects should be considered in the stage of initial blank shape design. In the study, a blank design method to consider the interactions between blanks was proposed and verified through the simulations and experiments. A commercial incremental FE code, LS-Dyna, was used to simulate the C.O.B.S Process. And a reverse one step FE code, Hyper Form, was used to predict initial blank shape. The boundary conditions of the reverse one step FE analysis were determined by the proposed method.

  • A large area plasma source using parallel $2{\times}2$ ICP antennas showed improved etching uniformity by the E-ICP operation. ITO etching process with $CH_4$ gas chemistry is optimized with the DOE (Design of Experiment) based on Taguchi method. Various methane ratios in methane and argon mixture are compared to confirm the effect of polymerization. The analysis shows that the effect of bias power is the largeset. We obtained higher ITO etching rate and better uniformity on $350{\times}300mm$ substrate at the 50Hz magnetization frequency of the E-ICP operation technique,

  • A 1.95Kb Sau3Al fragment coding for $\alpha$-amylase from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens was isolated by the shotgun method using Escherichia coli as a host. The genome of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens was partially digested with the restriction endonuclease Sau3Al and joined to plasmid YRp7 cleaved with the restriction endonuclease BamHI. The $\alpha$-amylase gene present in a 1.95Kb insert was stably maintained and expressed in Escherichia coli. The amount of $\alpha$-amylase activity produced by Escherichia coli containing the hybrid plasmid pEA24 was about 65% of the activity produced by the donor Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain. The properties of $\alpha$-amylase produced by Escherichia coli were very similar to those produced by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens as based on optimum temperature, pH, and effect of CaCl$_2$ concentration. About 70% of the $\alpha$-amylase produced by Escherichia coli was localized in the periplasmic space, whereas the remaining enzyme was localized in the inner part of the cell.

Comparison on Inactivation of Enterobacter sakazakii, Salmonella typhimurium, and Bacillus cereus Inoculated on Infant Formula During Storage by Gamma Irradiation

  • Enterobacter sakazakii, Salmonella typhimurium. and Bacillus cereus were evaluated on inoculated infant formula by gamma irradiation treatment as a method to provide microbial safety. The infant formula inoculated with the major pathogenic bacteria was treated at irradiation dose of 0, 3, 5, and 10 kGy, respectively. After treatment, the samples were individually packaged and stored at $20^{\circ}C$. Microbiological data during storage represented that the populations of E. sakazakii, S. typhimurium, and B. cereus were reduced with the increase of irradiation dose by 4 to 5 log reductions. In particular, E. sakazakii, S. typhimurium. and B. cereus were eliminated at 10, 5, and 3 kGy, respectively. E. sakazakii was the most radiation-resistant, while B. cereus was the least. Our results represent that gamma irradiation below 10 kGy should eliminate the growth of the major pathogenic bacteria in infant formula during storage.

  • The railroad freight transport has great merits that can transport mass and specific items(dangerous goods), but it takes a long time because of low accessibility to the logistics facility and the complex process of loading freight in middle station. This paper analyzed volumes and characters of each railroad freight item, and was carried out the effect of applying E&S system to Gyeongbu line containers to find the method of reducing transport time and effective container transportation. As a result of Cost-Effectiveness analysis, the block train(B/T) is reducing transport time more about 1~2 hours. The road congestion cost is saving about 2.2 billion won. And due to skipping work of organizing train, personnel and equipment expenses savings expected about 9 billion won. It is expected that the E&S system enhances the container transport service and has an effect positive influence on making a efficient method of transport. But It is necessary to estimate pre-feasibility of applying E&S system that the standard of estimating cost and benefit is required further examination.

  • This paper presents the vibration problem of the Engine Casing (E/C) "B" deck in the handymax vessel and describes a method to avoid resonance. The first ship of the series did not have any vibration issue on the "B" deck. However, resonance condition occurred when additional machine was installed to the following vessels. To understand the dynamic characteristics of the deck, the normal mode analysis and impact test have been performed. Within the normal operating range of the vessel, the $1^{st}$ natural frequency of the E/C "B" deck is close to the main engine's $6^{th}$ order. Based on these analysis, a reinforcement on the deck was suggested and it proved to be effective. Since actual impact test after the reinforcement also confirmed the resonance avoidance.
