Analysis of the Static and Dynamic Stability Properties of the Unmaned Airship

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the static and dynamic stability-of the unmanned airship under development ; the target airship's over-all length of hull is 50m and the maximum diameter is 12.5m. For the analysis, the dynamic model of an airship was defined and both the nonlinear and linear dynamic equations of motion were derived. Two different configuration models (KA002Y and KA003Y) of the airship were used for the target model of the static stability analysis and the dynamic stability analysis. From the result of analyses, though the airship is unstable in static stability, dynamic characteristics of the airship can provide the stable dynamic stability. All of the results, airship models and dynamic flight equations will be an important basement and basic information for the next step of developing the automatic flight control system(AFCS) and the stability augmentation system(SAS) for the unmanned airship as well as for the stratospheric airship in the future.

  • Determining the Schur stability of a polynomial is one of fundamental steps in many engineering problems including digital control system design or digital filter design. Due to its importance a variety of techniques have been reported in the literature for checking the Schur stability of a given polynomial. However most of them focus on real polynomials, and few results are available for complex polynomials. This paper concerns the Schur stability of complex polynomials. A simplified Jury's table for real polynomials is extended to complex polynomials.

  • In 1940 S.M. Ulam proposed the famous Ulam stability problem. In 1941 D.H. Hyers solved the well-known Ulam stability problem for additive mappings subject to the Hyers condition on approximately additive mappings. In this paper we improve results for Jensen type mappings and establish new theorems about the Ulam stability of additive and alternative Jensen type mappings.

  • This paper propose a new delay-dependent stability criterion of neutral time-delay systems. By employing double-integral terms in augmented states and constructing a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii's functional, a delay-dependent stability criterion is established in terms of Linear Matrix Inequality. Through numerical examples, the validity and improvement results obtained by applying the proposed stability criterion will be shown.

  • In this paper we investigate a generalization of the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability for a functional equation of the form $f(\varphi(X))\;=\;\phi(X)f(X)$, where X lie in n-variables. As a consequence, we obtain a stability result in the sense of Hyers, Ulam, Rassias, and Gavruta for many other equations such as the gamma, beta, Schroder, iterative, and G-function type's equations.

  • This paper describes the modeling data and final analysis results of rotor resonance, rotor aeroelastic stability and whirl flutter stability for Smart UAV (SUAV). The effects of wing beamwise, chordwise and torsional stiffness on the whirl flutter stability were investigated considering the possibility of design change of SUAV wing structure. The parametric study showed that wing torsional and beamwise stiffness changes have much stronger influence on the wing mode damping than chordwise stiffness. It was analytically demonstrated that the final designed rotor system is aeroelastically stable and free from resonance, and that rotor/pylon/wing system of SUAV TR-S4 has enough rotor stability and whirl flutter stability margin.
