  • In this paper, we designed a reduced height waveguide(WG) to microstrip mode converter with a short transition length. The mode converter is composed of a mode converter using E-plane probe and a modified impedance transformer. The mode converter was designed using a probe shorted to top of a 50 ohm ridge WG. The modified impedance transformer was designed to connect the mode converter to the reduced height WG. For wide bandwidth operation, the coupling of the two parts was tuned. The structure of the mode converter was optimized for low loss and wide bandwidth, and the optimized mode converter was fabricated. The performance of the mode converter was extracted using the thru and line S-parameters for back-to-back connections, and the connector loss was calibrated. The mode converter has a right angle structure and short transition length, 7.2 mm. The mode converter shows excellent performances; the insertion loss of 0.12 dB at 15 GHz, and the return loss above 10 dB for the full Ku-band.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel electrode structure for superb transmittance in super in-plane switching (S-IPS) mode while keeping the features of the conventional SIPS mode such as the capability of initial LC alignment. The optimization of the electrode made it possible to enhance the light transmittance approximately by 14 % in comparison to the conventional S-IPS cell.

  • This study investigated the relationship between mother's verbal confrol modes and children's emotional anxiety. The subjects of this study were 157boys and 144 girls attending elementary schools in Busan. Lee Kyung-Hee's(1993) questionnaire on mother's verval control modes, and Kang's(1986) questionnaire on emotional anxiety were used. The results were as follows: 1) There were significant differences in boys and girls about mother's imperative control mode. and children's emotional anxiety. Boys got the higher scores than the girls in mother's imperative control modes. But Girls got the higher score than the boys in children's emotional anxiety. 2) Only for boys, There were significant correlations between mother's imperative control mode and children's emotional anxiety. 3) Sex variabl and mother's imperative control mode variables were the predictor influencing on children's emotional anxiety. That is, girls shown higher emotional anxiety than boys. And children shown higher imperative control get higher emotional anxiety score.

  • A multilayer gaseous detector has been developed for fast dose-verification measurements of raster-scan-mode therapeutic beams in particle therapy. The detector, which was constructed with eight thin parallel-plate ionization chambers (PPICs) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) absorber plates, is closely tissue-equivalent in a beam's eye view. The gas-electron signals, collected on the strips and pad arrays of each PPIC, were amplified and processed with a continuous charge.integration mode. The detector was tested with 190-MeV raster-scan-mode beams that were provided by the Proton Therapy Facility at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. The detector responses of the PPICs for a 190-MeV raster-scan-mode proton beam agreed well with the dose data, measured using a 2D ionization chamber array (Octavius model, PTW). Furthermore, in this study it was confirmed that the detector simultaneously tracked the doses induced at the PPICs by the fast-oscillating beam, with a scanning speed of 2 m s-1. Thus, it is anticipated that the present detector, composed of thin PPICs and operating in charge.integration mode, will allow medical scientists to perform reliable fast dose-verification measurements for typical dynamic mode therapeutic beams.

  • Purpose of this research compares best transfer speed about applied frequency and voltage using characteristic of $L_1-B_4$ mode and $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor that use piezoelectric effect. By method of study, analyzed best transfer speed measuring and comparison load status that use actuality telephone card in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor and no-load status of $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor. Experiment result is applied frequency(58.4Hz) in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (load state) and the best transfer speed by 19.8[cm/s] at applied voltage(56V) point. Also, $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (no-load state) is best transfer speed by applied frequency(27.9kHz) and 32.96[cm/s] at applied voltage (50V) point.

  • This paper presents design and analysis of step-down piezoelectric transformer for application to AC-adapters. These transformers are consist of rectangular type and disk type multilayered piezoelectric ceramic plate. This piezoelectric transformer operated in third thickness resonance vibration mode. Finite element methode(FEM) was used for analysing transformer. Vibration mode and electric field of piezoelectric transformer were simulated at resonance frequency. As results, rectangular type transformer's output voltage was higher than the disk type. But disk type transformer's current was lagger than rectangular type. These results are assumed that disk type transformer's mixed vibration mode influence transformer's output characteristics. From these results, we expect that disk type piezoelectric transformer is more adoptable than rectangular plate type piezoelectric transformer for AC adapters.

  • A circuit building block for realizing a continuous-time active-only current-mode integrator is presented. The proposed integrator is composed only of internally compensated type operational amplifier (OA) and operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The integrator is suitable for integrated circuit implementation in either bipolar or CMOS technologies, since it does not require any external passive elements. Moreover, the integrator gain can be tuned through the transconductance gains of the OTAs. Some application examples in the realization of current-mode network functions using the proposed current-mode integrator as an active element are also given.

  • A theoretical study of mutual coupling effects between two H-plane coupled microstrip patch antennas is presented. The radiation resistance and slot capacitance of a single micro-strip patch are calculated. To investigate the mutual coupling effects, the even and odd mode characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constants are obtained using the coupled microstrip line model. The S-parameter matrix elements 511,512 are used to study the mutual coupling e(facts in S-band frequency ranges for various patch spacings. Theoretical results and measurements are in good agreement.

  • This study looked for Mode status of each for fatigue crack growth behavior about the repeat load of mode I and the static load of mode II. The experiment was performed in the state of the repetition frequency of the sine wave 10Hz, the stress ratio 0.1, maximum load 300kg.f, a static load 0, 100, 200, 300kg.f, As the experimental results, in mode of static load, while the load value increases, the crack growth rate is slower as the energy of a crack mixing grows. Mode I and the power mode II get an influence each other in the direction of crack propagation path, but as they eventually get closer to the breaking point of the crack growth, it is dominated by the mode I.
