In this study, a method for fatigue performance estimation of deepwater steel catenary riser (SCR) under short-term vortex-induced vibration was investigated for selected S-N curves. General tendency between S-N curve capacity and fatigue performance was analysed. SCRs are generally used to transport produced oil and gas or to export separated oil and gas, and are exposed to various environmental loads in terms of current, wave, wind and others. Current is closely related with VIV and it affects fatigue life of riser structures significantly. In this regards, the process of appropriate S-N curve selection was performed in the initial design stage based on the scale of fabrication-related initial imperfections such as welding, hot spot, crack, stress concentration factor, and others. To draw the general tendency, the effects of stress concentration factor (SCF), S-N curve type, current profile, and three different sizes of SCRs were considered, and the relationship between S-N curve capacity and short-term VIV fatigue performance of SCR was derived. In case of S-N curve selection, DNV (2012) guideline was adopted and four different current profiles of the Gulf of Mexico (normal condition and Hurricane condition) and Brazil (Amazon basin and Campos basin) were considered. The obtained results will be useful to select the S-N curve for deepwater SCRs and also to understand the relationship between S-N curve capacity and short-term VIV fatigue performance of deepwater SCRs.
The vegetative nuclear divisions in hyphae and chromosome numbers were studied with the aid of Giemsa-HCl techniques from 10 strains of Fusarium oxysporum. The entire nuclear division process occurred within an intact nuclear envelope like other fungus. The results confirmed that 2 strains(F. oxysporum S Hongchun D2, F. oxysporum S Jinyang 4) were n=4; 3 strains(F. oxysporum f. sp. lini KFCC 32585, F. oxysporum f. sp. melongenae KFCC 34743 and F. oxysporum f. sp. raphani) n=5; 2 strains(F. oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum, and F. oxysporum f. sp. mori KFCC 34742) n=6; 3 strains(F. oxysporum f. sp. cucumerium, F. oxysporum f. sp.niveum, and F. oxysporum f. sp. pisi) n=7.
Structural and optical properties of $In_xGa_{1-X}N$ as well as $In_{0.1}Ga_{0.9}N$/GaN single quantum we11 (SQW) grown on sapphire (0001) substrate with an based GaN using rf-plasma assisted MBE have been investigated. The quality of the InXGal.,N fdm was improved as the growth temperature increased. In PL measurements at low temperatures, the band edge emission peaks of $In_xGa_{1-X}N$ was shifted to red region as an indium cell and substrate temperature increased. For $In_{0.1}Ga_{0.9}N$/GaN SQW, the optical emission energy has blue shift about 15meV in PL peak, due to the confined energy level in the well region. And, the FWHM of the $In_{0.1}Ga_{0.9}N$/GaN SQW was larger than that of the bulk Ino,la.9N films. The broadening of FWHM can be explained either as non-uniformity of Indium composition or the potential fluctuation in the well region. Photoconductivity (PC) decay measurement reveals that the optical transition lifetimes of the SQW measured gradually increased with temperatures.
In 1963, Toomre built up classes of mass models for the highly flattened galaxies which have free parameters n, $a_n$ and $C_n$. In order to keep the universal dimension, we adopt parameters $b_n({C_n}^2={a_n}^{2n}+^2{b_n}^2/(n-1)!)$ insteal of $C_n$. Series of the normalized Toomre's mass models (G = $V_{max}$ =$R_{max}$ = 1, n = 1 to 7) are derived and the normalized parameters $a_n$ and $b_n$ are determined by the iteration method. Replacing parameters $a_n$ and $b_n$ to ${a_n}^l(=a_nr_{max})$ and ${b_n}^l(=b_n\cdotV_{max}/r_{max})$, we can get the generalization of Toomre's mass model.
Let $m,n{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$. We represent the additive subgroups of the ring ${\mathbb{Z}}_m{\times}{\mathbb{Z}}_n$, which are also (unital) subrings, and deduce explicit formulas for $N^{(s)}(m,n)$ and $N^{(us)}(m,n)$, denoting the number of subrings of the ring ${\mathbb{Z}}_m{\times}{\mathbb{Z}}_n$ and its unital subrings, respectively. We show that the functions $(m,n){\mapsto}N^{u,s}(m,n)$ and $(m,n){\mapsto}N^{(us)}(m,n)$ are multiplicative, viewed as functions of two variables, and their Dirichlet series can be expressed in terms of the Riemann zeta function. We also establish an asymptotic formula for the sum $\sum_{m,n{\leq}x}N^{(s)}(m,n)$, the error term of which is closely related to the Dirichlet divisor problem.
This experiment was done to know developmental characteristics of Sericin jam. Incubation periods were 10 day 2 hr, and 10 day 1 hr. 11 day 1 hr for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam, respectively. Hatching rates were 83.9, 83.3 and 96.0% for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam. Larval periods were, 20 days 1 hr for Nd-s jam, 20 days 5 hrs for N $d^{H}$ jam, and 22 days 12 hrs for Baegok jam. Death rate of larvae was highest in N $d^{H}$ iam, followed by Nd-s jam and Baegok jam. Pupation rate was highest in Baegok Jam followed by Nd-s jam and that of N $d^{H}$ jam was the lowest among the three. Cocoon weight was 1.39, 1.08, and 2.01 g for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam, respectively. Shell weight were 13, 3, and 48 cg for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam. Cocoon shell ratios were 9.0% for Nd-s jam, 2.8% for N $d^{H}$ jam and 23.9% for Baegok jam. Cocoon sizes were 30.6${\times}$15.8 mm for Nd-s jam, 24.7${\times}$14.9 mm for N $d^{H}$ jam and 35.8 ${\times}$ 20.5 mm(1${\times}$w) for Baegok jam.w) for Baegok jam.
Substituent effects of benzyl substrates for the reaction of substituted benzyl(Z) arenesulfonate(X) with dimethylanilines in (Y) acetone at $35^{circ}$ were studied. The interactions between Z and Y disappeared when changed from electron withdrawing group to releasing group in benzyl substrates. The disappearance of interactions between Z and Y infers change of mechanism from $S_N2 to S_N1$ in substituent Z.
The effects of age and dietary fatty acid composition on lipid metabolism were investigated in Sprague-Dawley strain male rats. These animals weighing 88.6$\pm$2.2g were fed 10% dietary fat(W/W, 20% of total energy) with 0.5, 1, 2 P/S ratio and in each P/S ratio there were three different levels of n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio ; 2, 4, 8. The experimental period was 1 month, 6 months and 12 months. The results of this study were as follows. The body weight of rats increased rapidly for the first two months, then increased slowly until 7 to 8 months. After 10 months of dietary regimen their weight decreased. The weight of liver, kidney and epidydimal fat pad increased along with the body weight and then decreased in the 12 months. Plasma total lipid increased with age and it decreased significantly when P/S ratio of dietary fatty acid was high. In creased with age and it decreased significantly when P/S ratio of dietary fatty acid was high. In creasing n-3 fatty acid intake in each P/S ratio resulted in lower plasma total lipid although was not statistically significant. The amount of plasma total cholesterol increased at 6 months, but decreased at 12 months. In case of 1, 12 months, increasing P/S ratio significantly plasma total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were decreased and hepatic cholesterol was increased, VLDL-HDL-cholesterol did not changed. The n-6/n-3 ratio did not affect any of theses. The amount of plasma triglyceride and VLDL-triglyceride increased at 6 month then decreased. When the rats consumed higher amount of n-3 fatty acid in each P/S ratio, their plasma triglyceride and hepatic triglyceride increased at 1, 12months.
The gas phase identity nucleophilic substitution reactions of halide anions (X = F, Cl, Br) with cyclopentadienyl halides (1) are investigated at the B3LYP/6-311+G**, MP2/6-311+G** and G2(+)MP2 levels involving five reaction pathways: σ-attack $S_N2$, β-$S_N$2'-syn, β-$S_N$2'-anti, γ-$S_N$2'-syn and γ-$S_N$2'-anti paths. In addition, the halide exchange reactions at the saturated analogue, cyclopentyl halides (2), and the monohapto circumambulatory halide rearrangements in 1 are also studied at the same three levels of theory. In the σ-attack $S_N2$ transition state for 1 weak positive charge develops in the ring with X = F while negative charge develops with X = Cl and Br leading to a higher energy barrier with X = F but to lower energy barriers with X = Cl and Br than for the corresponding reactions of 2. The π-attack β-$S_N$2' transition states are stabilized by the strong $n_C-{\pi}^{*}_{C=C}$ charge transfer interactions, whereas the π-attack γ-$S_N$2' transition states are stabilized by the strong $n_C-{\sigma}^{*}_{C-X}$ interactions. For all types of reaction paths, the energy barriers are lower with X = F than Cl and Br due to the greater bond energy gain in the partial C-X bond formation with X = F. The β-$S_N$2' paths are favored over the γ-$S_N$2' paths only with X = F and the reverse holds with X = Cl and Br. The σ-attack $S_N2$ reaction provides the lowest energy barrier with X = Cl and Br, but that with X = F is the highest energy barrier path. Activation energies for the circumambulatory rearrangement processes are much higher (by more than 18 kcal $mol^{-1}$) than those for the corresponding $S_N2$ reaction path. Overall the gas-phase halide exchanges are predicted to proceed by the σ-attack $S_N2$ path with X = Cl and Br but by the β-$S_N$2'-anti path with X = F. The barriers to the gas-phase halide exchanges increase in the order X = F < Br < Cl, which is the same as that found for the gas-phase identity methyl transfer reactions.
Experiments were conducted to find out the optimum level of slow release N fertilizers when total amounts of nitrogen required throughout the growing season in paddy were applied in the soil of seedling box. To evaluate the emergence rate and growth of rice seedlings, five levels of Meister (MS) 10, MS S10, and latex coated urea (LCU) which are equivalent to 0, 40, 60, 80, and 100kg N h $a^{-l}$ were mixed in soil of the seedling box. Emergence rate differed depending on the fertilizers and N levels; in MS 10 plots the emergence rate was 40.8% at 40kg N h $a^{-l}$ and no seedlings were emerged at the higher levels, in MS S10 plots higher than 80% at all the N levels, and decreased with the N levels from 70.0% at 40 kg N h $a^{-l}$ to 59.5% at 100kg N h $a^{-l}$ of LCU. Seedling started to wilt at 40 kg N h $a^{-l}$ of MS 10 and 80 and 100 kg N h $a^{-l}$ N of LCU on the 8th day after sowing, while seedling growth was normal at all the levels of MS S10. Field performance of rice was evaluated at the 0, 30, 60, 90, 120kg N h $a^{-l}$ of MS S10 applied in the soil of seedling box and N was not applied in paddy. Grain yield at 90 and 120kg N h $a^{-l}$ of MS S10 was similar to conventional urea split application (120 kg N h $a^{-l}$), but significantly higher compared to 30 and 60kg N h $a^{-l}$ of MS S10. Fertilizer N recovery decreased with N levels and the N recovery at 90 kg N h $a^{-l}$ of MS S10 and conventional urea split application were 62.2 % and 44.2%, respectively, with similar grain yield. The optimum level of MS S10 to be applied in seedling box seems to be about 90 kg N h $a^{-l}$ considering grain yield, price of fertilizer, labor applying fertilizer, and fertilizer N recovery.d fertilizer N recovery.
