  • This study intends to suggest basic data for the activation of rural activities in dietary life education, through a survey of adolescents on rural activities in dietary life education. It was found that 63.2% of subject students had the experience of rural activities; and that as many as 35.2% among the students who experienced rural activities participated in the activities 5 times or more. And the survey showed that rural activities were led most frequently by a teacher in charge (37.9%), and rather rarely by a nutrition teacher (15.4%) or an expert in dietary life education (7.7%). As for food ingredients that adolescents experienced during rural activities, they were composed of easily available good cookers that are common in the Korean diet, and, among them, vegetables were experienced most, followed by cereals and fruits. On the other hand, as for food ingredients preferred by adolescents, it was found that boy students preferred meat, while girl students preferred fruits. And as for improvements in dietary life, it was found that making efforts to have good dietary habits had the highest score, which shows that rural activities contributed to the improvement in adolescents' dietary life. Therefore, given the fact that rural activities go some way towards improving adolescents' dietary life, it is advisable that more opportunities for experiencing rural activities be provided to adolescents in the future so as to help them have good dietary habits.

  • The study was intended to identify the effect of the rural development projects (comprehensive improvement of the seats of Eup and Myeon and regional unit comprehensive development projects) on the quality of life in rural areas against local residents living in areas subject to those projects by means of structural equation modeling based on covariance structure analysis. The result indicated that perception factors affecting the quality of life for residents in rural areas by the projects included 'improvement in spatial environment', 'increase in vitality of rural areas', and 'promotion of community activities.' It was also suggested that 'improvement in spatial environment' and 'increase in vitality of rural areas' have significantly positive effect on the quality of life for residents in rural areas while the former has relatively higher correlation. In comparison between comprehensive improvement of the seats of Eup and Myeon and regional unit comprehensive development projects, it was analyzed that all the perception factors of the comprehensive improvement of the seats of Eup and Myeon have effect on the quality of life for residents in rural areas indicating that comprehensive improvement of the seats of Eup and Myeon is more effective than regional unit comprehensive development projects in promoting the community activities. It means that existing rural development projects have been promoted to improve spatial environment rather than improving the quality of life for residents in rural areas. Thus, it is considered that the rural development projects in future should seek for a sense of community so that they can induce voluntary participation by local residents.

  • This paper analyzes causal relationship between rural experience and settlement. Structural Equation Modeling is the combination of factor analysis and multiple regression analysis which can explain causal relation between factors. Rural perception factor has conceptualized positive sector (attitude, values) and negative sector (perceived risk, sentiment). Statistically significant causality results are as follows. People think about migration into rural when they have high level of attitude about rural but fear of rural life make avoid migration into rural. When people have fear of rural life, they also have bad feeling about rural infrastructure and facility. Attitude of rural, values of rural and low fear of rural life gives positive influence to satisfaction. Satisfaction gives positive influence to migration into rural.

  • The time management and allotments for various activities of daily life is much different by age groups. This study analyzes time allotments of different age groups for various activities of daily life to figure out the change of main activity by aging through 2009 time use survey by National Statistical Office. Especially we focus on time allotments of rural elderly population and intangible factors for life quality of people instead of physical and environmental elements. The results show that there is a large gap of time allotments for paid and unpaid working time of rural and urban elderly population. Whereas the time for leisure of elderly women in rural areas is much shorter than that of urban elderly women and rural elderly men spend more time to provide community services and help to other households. However, the percentage leisure time of rural elderly people for passive activities such as TV, radio, magazine etc. is longer than that of urban elderly people. We hope that our analysis data could be used for developing new policies and project to improve the life quality of rural elderly population.

  • This study is an experimental study that examines the policy attributes that local governments should choose to manage the quality of life of rural residents. The analysis data used raw materials for the survey of the welfare status of farmers and fishermen surveyed by the Rural Development Administration. The analysis method used Quantile Regression. The policy attributes of public services were interpreted on the basis of Peterson (1981)'s theory of policy types and the discussion of Holland (2015). According to the analysis results, the higher the quality of life, the greater the importance of the relationship between the safety sector and the neighbors. The effective policy attributes for improving quality of life in rural areas are the policies of local governments where policy benefits can directly go to individuals, or lead to social improvement. It shows that the higher the level of safety and the quality of life of our neighbors, the greater its importance.
