  • Half channel angular extrusion(HCAE) is the integration of equal channel angular extrusion(ECAE), which is a well-known severe plastic deformation(SPD) method, with conventional forward extrusion in order to increase the strain per pass and effectiveness of the grain refinement. In the current study, the effects of processing routes during HCAE(Routes A, B, and C) on the strain distribution of the specimens have been investigated for an AZ61 Mg alloy by using three-dimensional finite element analysis. Comparisons with the results from a multi-pass of ECAE are made.

Design of a machine learning based mobile application with GPS, mobile sensors, public GIS: real time prediction on personal daily routes

  • Since the global positioning system (GPS) has been included in mobile devices (e.g., for car navigation, in smartphones, and in smart watches), the impact of personal GPS log data on daily life has been unprecedented. For example, such log data have been used to solve public problems, such as mass transit traffic patterns, finding optimum travelers' routes, and determining prospective business zones. However, a real-time analysis technique for GPS log data has been unattainable due to theoretical limitations. We introduced a machine learning model in order to resolve the limitation. In this paper presents a new, three-stage real-time prediction model for a person's daily route activity. In the first stage, a machine learning-based clustering algorithm is adopted for place detection. The training data set was a personal GPS tracking history. In the second stage, prediction of a new person's transient mode is studied. In the third stage, to represent the person's activity on those daily routes, inference rules are applied.

  • Since 2013, Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has introduced big data initiatively in administration and put into practices in transportation, safety, welfare in order to overcome limited resources and conflicting interests. For establishing a new midnight bus service, SMG prepared optimized midnight bus routes by analyzing big data from mobile phone Call Data Record (CDR) through collaboration with a telecommunication company. Despite of limited budget and resources, newly identified routes can cover over 42% of the citizen with 9 routes and less than 1% of buses compare with day time operation. In addition to solve transportation problem, SMG utilizes big data to resolve location selection problem for choosing new facility locations such as life double cropping centers and senior citizen leisure centers. As results, SMG demonstrates big data as a good tool to make policies and to build smarter city by overcome space-time limitation of resources, mediation of conflicts, and maximizes benefit of the citizen.

The 18C Hamkyung-Gamsa's Sulryeok Routes and major duties (18세기 함경도 관찰사의 순력(巡歷) 노정과 주요 업무)

  • This study examined the routes, periods, and characteristics of Hamkyung-Gamsa's Sulryeok(巡歷) and his major duties during the Sulryeok. For this purpose, all hitherto known Hamkyung-Gamsa's official diaries, such as "Gwanbukilgi(關北日記)", "Sunryeokilrok(巡歷日錄)" and 'Buksunilgi(北巡日記)', 'Bukhaengilrok(北行日錄)' of "Dongbukansarok(東北按使錄)", were investigated closely. The main results of this study are as follows. 1) The Hamkyung-Gamsa's Sulryeok routes almost took the Gyeongheungro, which was one of the six main roads in the Joseon dynasty. The use of this road as the Sulryeok route was attributed to the rough terrain. 2) The Sulryeok routes were divided into two ways: the north and south routes centering on HamheungGamyoung. As Hamheung is located in the southern part of Hamgyeong-do, the northern Sulryeok route, which reached the downstream side of the Tuman River and border defense facilities, was long and took a long period of time. 3) Hamkyung-Gamsa's major duties during the northern Sulryeok route were to check the border defense facilities and hold literary and archery contests and special state examinations, especially in Gilju. His major duties during the southern Sulryeok route were to inspect and maintain the royal tombs and historical landmarks, such as Junwonjeon, Sukreung, Jireung. 4) Sometimes the routes of Hamkyung-Gamsa's Sulryeok included some sightseeing spots, which were famous for ten scenic spots of Bukgwan.

  • Recently, the trade volume between Korea, China, and Europe is increasing gradually with various transport routes such as sea, railway. and linking of them. In this study, economic efficiency of existing transport routes are estimated and trainferry type shipping between Mokpo and Lianyungang is proposed as a efficient transport route considering the trade volume between Korea and China.

An assignment method for part-machine cell formation problem in the presence of multiple process routes

  • In this paper we consider the part-machine cell formation decision of the generalized Group Technology(GT) problem in which multiple process routes can be generated for each part. The existing p-median model and similarity coefficient algorithm can solve only small-sized or well-structured cases. We suggest an assignment method for the cell formation problem. This method uses an assignment model which is a simple linear programming. Numerical examples show that our assignment method provides good separable cells formation even for large-sized and ill-structured problems.

  • Nowadays the market for diamond tools grows rapidly. The present decline in the price of industrial diamond makes it a commoditised product capable of competing with conventional abrasives. In terms of production volume, the largest group of diamond tools comprises the metal-bonded diamond impregnated tools, such as sawblades, wire saws, and core drills for cutting stone and construction materials, and core bits for mining applications. This article provides a compendious coverage of the powder metallurgy (PM) diamond tool-making routes, and identifies the recent trends towards changing the tool design and composition to render it cheaper and more efficient.

The Study on Pharmacokinetics According to the Administration Route (흡수경로에 따른 약물동태학적 고찰)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to search for more effective administraion route of herbal medicine. Methods : Pharmacokinetic issues with the methods in experimental papers, which deal with finding the effectiveness of two or more administration routes of herbal medicine, searched from KERIS, KSI, KISTI and KTKP, have been analyzed by, first, categorizing the papers and comparing the validity of administration routes. Results and Conclusions : 1. Upon comparing in total of 24 papers on the basis of each administration route, per oral(PO)-herbal acupuncture(HA) was most superior in terms of number in that there were 13 cases and PO-per rectal(PR) was next superior in that there were 5 cases. PO-per dermal(PD)-inhalation therapy(IT), PO-IT and PO-PR-HA had 3, 2 and 1 cases respectively. 2. Out of the total 24 papers which compares different administration routes, 16 of them were pharmacokinetically appropriate, whereas, the remaining 8 were pharmacokinetically inappropriate. 3. Comparisons were made between PO-HA, PO-PR, PO-IT, PO-PD-IT and PO-PR-HA routes. However, none of them was not particularly effective regardless of the administered medicine or target organ. 4. No route was particularly effective against a particular drug target as a result of comparing damaged liver, asthma, endometriosis and anti-inflammation. 5. In the case of Injinhotang in medicine comparison, HA tended to be more associated with hepatotoxicity over PO. However, Cordyceps Militaris Mycelia, Gagamsohaphyangwon and Hongdeungtang showed no prominent effective administration route.

Development of Korean Container Freight Index Based on Trade Volume (물동량 기반의 한국 정기선 운임지수 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a new Korean container freight index by applying weights based on the global trade volume. To achieve this, it was decided to determine the conditions such as establishment of routes and regions, weighting of trade volumes which based on prior research and expert advice. Based on this, the individual index and regional index and composite index were calculated, and then reliability and statistical significance of the index was verified through correlation analysis and Granger causality analyses. This study suggest the following findings, through the development of the Korean container freight index. Firstly, Korean freight index reflects the overall market situation and can be used as a benchmark for determining the conditions of each market, consisting of criteria of region and routes. Secondly, it is possible to reflect the market conditions in which actual freight differences exist, since it has developed separate indexes for export and import routes. Finally, The composite index is the only index that reflects not only exports and imports but also 27 individual routes based on Busan, which is the most comprehensive indicator of the korean container freight market.

  • This research has proposed a quantitative environmental assessment method of road routes based on the various policies and literature, and applied such proposal to the planned road routes to evaluate the environment-friendly road routes. Accordingly, the case sections per each region of Joong-bu, Gang-won, and Nam-bu were selected to execute the proposed environmental assessment method. Consequently, it has been confirmed that the distribution of environmental score of the subject region of each case section varied. In particular, for the Gang-won region, the high scores took up the most. Also, to indicate the degree of environment per each section, a route which minimizes the environmental effects per subject region was created to analyze the environmental degree per each section. As a result, the section in the region with the highest environmental sensitivity, in other words the Gang-won region with many high scores, had the lowest environmental degree.
