  • This paper deals with the design of an 870 krpm class high-speed permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) applied to micro turbine system. Since space where the high-speed PMSG coupled with the micro turbine occupies in the system is strictly limited, the work described in this paper is motivated by the desire to make maximum output power of the generator considering the rotor and stator structures, winding methods and bearing system under restricted space.

단상 Twin sSator유도기의 특성해석에 관한 연구 (An Analysis on the Performance of a Twin Stator Single-Phase Induction Manchine)

  • An analysis is made for the performance of twin stator single-phase induction machine having any movable asymmetrical angle of stator windings, with any symmetrical or asymmetrical magnetizing reactance and winding turn-ratio between two stators, provided that asymmetrical common squirrel cage rotor is utilized. This mechanism is a new type, which has the advantage of mading only not the performance prediction in applications as a single-phase electromagnetic driving mechanism but also the analysis prediction of single-phase induction motor with not in quadrature axis. The basis of the analyses are lead by Kron's primitive machine matrix and Morrill's double-revolving field concept. All the performances can be calculated from the test values and design details of the asymmetrical magnetizing reactance twin stator single-phase induction machine and verified by test. And its validity is still demonstrated to the pure twin stator single-phase induction machine.

  • This paper deals with the effect of teeth number variation in permanent Magnet DC motor. As teeth number varies, both flux density distribution and winding pitch are influenced, which is closely related to torque-speed characteristics, output power, and efficiency. In this study, motor design carried out using finite element method, and prototype motors were manufactured to test their performance analysis. In spite of torque ripple due to cogging effect better characteristic of machine using small teeth number was recorded than the motors with large number of rotor teeth. One of that reasons is caused by adopting large coil-length due to large number of teeth, i. e. large coil-pitch.

  • This paper is dealing with the slotless AFPM(Axial Flux Permanent Magnet) Brushless Motor. It has been reported that AFPM brushless DC motor have high efficiency and high energy density than radial flux permanent brushless DC motor. AFPM brushless DC motor finds its application of electric vehicles. In this paper, small AFPM brushless DC motor was designed using the ferrite permanent magnet. For this design, magnet of rotor, stator dimension and stator winding parameters has been studied and prototype AFPM motor has been assembled and motor speed, torque and efficiency are investigated.

  • A reluctance motor is a electric machine in which torque is produced by the tendency of its movable part to move to a position where the inductance of the excited winding is maximized. This means physical fact that the energy stored in the field tend to be minimized as the energy stored in the field is converted the mechanical work. In this paper, we have studied the characteristics of the electromagnetic energy conversion about SRM which have 6 stator and 4 rotor poles with 3 phase. In addition we design the fundamental model of SRM with requirements(e.g. power, speed) and simulate with PC-SRD.

가전기기용전동기의 전자소음과 진동의 방지대책에 관한 연구 (Study on the Reduction Method of Magnetic Noise and Vibration in Home Electric Motors)

  • This study is to present a method for reductin of noise and vibration of home electric motors coupled to the mechanical load causing relatively big amplitude of vibration. The noise and vibration factors have been analysed in the divisions such as the pattern related to the armature reaction, the pattern related to the circulating current by induction and the other patterns those are affected by a dditive magnetic field and have an effect on mechanical constants. From the systematic mutual relations between the patterns and daping effects, it is possible to derive the fundamental measure for reduction of noise and vibration. Vibration measurements and analysis were carried out in accordance with the planned experimentation and thre object model was chosen randomly from the production line in a factory where home electric machines were mass-produced. Based on the above-mentioned fundamental measure, suppression effects on noise and vibration have been analysed according to the number of slots, the amount of rotor skew and the way the stator winding connection was series or parallel.

In-wheel Motor Design for an Electric Scooter

  • The aim of this paper is to provide an optimal design of in-wheel motor for an electric scooter (E-scooter) considering economical production. The preliminary development in-wheel motor, which has a direct-driven outer rotor type attached to the E-scooter's rear wheel without any gear, is introduced first. The objective of the optimal design of this in-wheel motor is to improve the output characteristics of the motor and to have a stator form to facilitate automatic winding. Response surface methodology was used for the optimal design and 2-dimensional finite element method was used for electro-magnetic field analysis. Experimental results showed that the designed and fabricated in-wheel motor could satisfy the required specifications in terms of speed, power, efficiency, and cogging torque.

  • This paper describes an approach to design a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) for the reduction of cogging torque. The magnitude of the torque ripple and cogging torque in a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) are generally dependent on several major factors: the shape of stator tooth tip, slot opening width, air gap length, the shape of barrier preventing flux leakage of magnets, magnet configuration and magnetization distribution or magnet poles. In this paper, the IPM BLDC motor is designed considering a saturated leakag flux between the barriers on the rotor for increasing the efficiency and decreasing the magnitude of the cogging torque. Analytical model is developed for the IPM BLDC motor with a concentrated winding stator. The results verifies that the proposed design approach is very efficient and effective in reducing the cogging torque and the torque ripple of the IPM BLDC motor to be used in an electric vehicle.

  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis of the 40-kVA high speed synchronous generator considering the field current. The generator consist of the rotor with the short-circuited field coils connected armature coils of exciter and the stator with three-phase winding. To analyze the characteristics of the generator, the direct finite element method is applied.

  • The major deisng parameters that are considered in this paper are: 1) EMF according to width of field coil. 2) EMF according to magnetic shield length. Because of superconducting generator (SG) is actually and air cored machine with its rotor iron and stator iron teeth having been removed. In this case, the desing of the SG must be based on the 3D analysis of the magnetic field. This study presents an effective armature winding type with 3D FEM(Finite Element Method), and compares analyzed and measured results.
