  • The OH($X^2{\Pi},\;{\nu}$"=0, 1) internal state distributions from the reaction of electronically ground state oxygen atoms with HSi$Cl_3$ were measured using laser-induced fluorescence. The ground-state O$(^3P_J)$ atoms with kinetic energies above the reaction barrier were produced by photolysis of N$O_2$ at 355 nm. The OH product revealed strong vibrational population inversion, P(${\nu}$"=1)/P(${\nu}$"=0) = 4.0 ${\pm}$ 0.6, and rotational distributions in both vibrational states exhibit substantial rotational excitations to the limit of total available energy. However, no preferential populations in either of the two $\Lambda$ doublet states were observed from the micropopulations, which supports a mechanism involving a direct abstraction of hydrogen by the atomic oxygen. It was also found that the collision energy between O and HSi$Cl_3$ is effectively coupled into the excitation of the internal degrees of freedom of the OH product ($$ = 0.62, and $<\;f_{rot}>$ = 0.20). The dynamics appear consistent with expectations for the kinematically constrained reaction which supports the reaction type, heavy + light-heavy $\rightarrow$ heavy-light + heavy (H + LH′ $\rightarrow$ HL + H′). The dynamics of oxygen atom collision with HSi$Cl_3$ are discussed in comparison to those with Si$H_4$.

  • Molecular orbital calculations at the extended Huckel level have been carried out for $Cp_2TiSiHPh(1),\;[Cp_2Ti]_2[{\mu}-HSi(HPh)][{\mu}-H] (2),\;and\;[Cp_2TiSiH_2Ph]_2$ (3) complexes which are important intermediates in organosilane polymerization. Stable geometry of complex 1 is not $C_{2V}$, but Cs symmetry and the rotational energy barrier of $SiH_2$ unit is computed to be 14 kcal/mol. The orbital interaction diagrams are studied to characterize the chemical bonding for the electron deficient systems, 2 and 3. It is possible for Si-H to be coordinated to the Ti metal using $\sigma$ bonding.

  • In this paper, characteristics and types of vehicle accidents involving buses that differ from common passenger cars are analyzed. When heavy vehicles are involved in collision accidents, the external impulse conveyed through bus tire from road surface cannot be ignored, so the conventional rigid-body impact model cannot be applied. As a solution, an analysis model which directly considers the tire impulse or considers the bus as moving barrier has been proposed. Also, as there are many instances in which the location of contact point or coefficients related to rotational motion cannot be estimated, utilization of point-mass collision model has been sought. By applying the proposed analysis model to an actual accident case and comparing with the result of the conventional analysis which does not consider the tire impulse, it is shown that the velocity of bus and other values close to the actual amount can be obtained.

  • Elementary schools in Korea need to create an environment for integrated education and transform into school facilities that are central to the local community. This study assessed the level of universal design application in the physical environment of elementary schools based on the seven principles of universal design in order to create an environment in which all users, including elementary school students, can access and use school facilities equally. For this aim, field research was conducted on 243 elementary schools, and facilities with low application level were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, in order to apply the principle of 'flexibility in use', the rotating handle on the side of the toilet, which is used by the wheelchair user in the way the toilet is accessed, must be installed in a top-to-bottom rotational manner. In order to improve the applicability of the 'low physical effort' principle, it is necessary to select land and apply the plan from the beginning of the design.
