  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to specify the relationship between demographic cohesion and firm performance by examining the roles of HR practices, such as job rotation and flexible work arrangement. Design/methodology/approach - This study samples 1,093 firms in Korea and collects their data between 2007 and 2017 from Workplace Panel Survey, a database from Korea Labor Institute. The demographic cohesion is measured using the Herphindal-Hershman index and the firm performance is measured with net incomes. This study employs a fixed-effects model for the estimation of firm performance with respect to demographic cohesion, job rotation, and flexible work arrangement. Findings - There is a positive relationship between demographic cohesion and net incomes. And the relationship is positively moderated by job rotation. However, flexible work arrangement shows a mixed moderation. Research implications or Originality - Differentiated from the studies on demographic diversity, this study shows that demographic cohesion has a mixed impact on firm performance. While demographic cohesion can improve firm performance through trust building, in-group favoritism, and collective identity it entails internal conflicts. However the link between demographic cohesion and firm performance is moderated by job rotation and flexible work arrangement. While there is a positive moderation of job rotation, there is a negative moderation of flexible work arrangement.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to understand 4 groups in tentatively named "muscle coordinative manipulation" by Korean medicine. Methods : We researched some articles on meridian-muscle theory and muscle's action that are classified into 4 groups in muscle coordinative manipulation. Results : The outcome of examining the hypothesis is as follows: 1. The 1st hypothesis : 'Elevated shoulder' group mainly consists of muscles that are involved with shoulder elevation, abduction and external rotation. 'Lowered shoulder' group is mainly composed of muscles that acts of shoulder depression, adduction and internal rotation. 'Elevated pelvis' & 'Lowered pelvis' groups didn't show significant features by the movement of the hips. 2. The 2nd hypothesis : Most of muscles in 'elevated & lowered shoulder' groups are classified into 'hand taiyang' meridian-muscle. Most of muscles in 'elevated pelvis' group are included in 'foot jueyin' meridian-muscle. Most of muscles in 'lowered pelvis' group are classified into 'foot taiyang & foot yangming' meridian-muscle. Conclusions : There is no significant classification in muscles that comprise 4 groups in muscle coordinative manipulation when it comes to meridian-muscle theory and muscle function. More studies on chain reaction of muscle and subsequent analysis in Korean medicine are needed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of kinesio taping on lumbar flexibility onto erector spinae and sacroiliac joint. Methods: Sixty healthy adults (male=36, female=24) participated in this study and were randomly assigned to the experimental group that received kinesio taping onto erector spinae and sacroiliac joint (n=30) or the control group that received X-letter placebo taping onto them (n=30). Lumbar flexibility (flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation) was measured using back range-of-motion instrument (BROM) II before and after taping. Results: In the change of lumbar flexibility after taping in the experimental group, there were statistically significant difference in flexion, lateral flexion, and rotation (p<0.05), but there was no significant difference in extension. There was no significant difference in the change of lumbar flexibility after taping in the control group. Conclusion: In conclusion, kinesio taping onto erector spinae and sacroiliac joint improved the joint function. Kinesio taping may reduce the muscle tension and facilitate the circulation of tissue fluid. In light of these results, it is thought that the application of kinesio taping had influence on an increase in lumbar flexibility. Therefore, kinesio taping will be able to be used as the method of the prevention of pain and the treatment in the lumbar region.

  • Background: Subjects with frozen shoulder (FS) might not be comfortable with vigorous physical therapy. Clinical trials assessing the effect of graded motor imagery (GMI) in FS are lacking. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of GMI as an adjunct to conventional physiotherapy in individuals with painful FS. Methods: Twenty subjects aged 40-65 years having stage I and II of FS were randomly divided into two study groups. The conventional physiotherapy group (n = 10) received electrotherapy and exercises while the GMI group (n = 10) received GMI along with the conventional physiotherapy thrice a week for 3 weeks. Pre- (Session 1) and post- (Session 9) intervention analysis for flexion, abduction, and external rotation range of motion (ROM) using a universal goniometer, fear of movement using the fear avoidance belief questionnaire (FABQ), pain with the visual analogue scale, and functional disability using the shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) was done by a blinded assessor. Results: Statistically significant difference was seen within both the groups for all the outcomes. In terms of increasing abduction ROM as well as reducing fear of movement, pain, and functional disability, the GMI group was significantly better than control group. However, both groups were equally effective for improving flexion and external rotation ROM. Conclusions: Addition of GMI to the conventional physiotherapy proved to be superior to conventional physiotherapy alone in terms of reducing pain, kinesiophobia, and improving shoulder function for stage I and II of FS.

  • This study examined the effects of role rotation experience on learning flow, self leadership and debriefing satisfaction in nursing students. A non-equivalence control group quasi-experimental study was used and included as participants 203 junior nursing students at Y University. The experimental group (n=103) participated in the teaching class using a role rotation experience, while the control group (n=100) received conventional practice education. The outcome measurements were learning flow, self leadership, and debriefing satisfaction. The collected data were analyzed using a chi-test, and at-test using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The total score of learning flow and self leadership were similar in the two groups. On the other hand, in the case of the debriefing satisfaction (t=-2.70, p=.008), the experimental group ($4.24{\pm}0.51$) was remarkably higher than the control group ($4.03{\pm}0.60$). Although the changes regarding the learning flow and self leadership could not be identified, the debriefing satisfaction had been affected by the practice education using the role rotation experience. Therefore, to identify the effects of simulation education for further details, more research with diversified subjects and varied durations is needed.

  • Purpose:The aim of this study was to determine the effect of active sling exercise on shoulder subluxation in hemiplegic patients. Methods:Twenty persons with shoulder subluxation were randomly divided into two groups; the experimental group(10 persons) and the control group(10 persons). Usual physical therapy and occupational therapy were applied in all groups in a day for 4 weeks. Additionally the experimental group was received 30 minutes sling active exercise (flexion, extention, adduction, abduction, intenal rotation, external rotation, horizontal adduction, horizontal abduction) for shoulder joint in a day for 4 weeks. I investigated the therapeutic effect of sling exercise through the Wolf motor function test (WMFT), Quantitative radiographic measurements and range of motion test at pre and post intervention period. Results:The passive range of motion was significantly increased in the experimental group compare with the control group. However, the active range of motion was no statistically significantly difference in both of the experimental and the control group. The level of WMFT was significantly decreased in the experimental group compared with control group. Although, there was no significantly difference the degree of the shoulder subluxation was more decreased in experimental group than control group. Conclusion:Taken together, these results suggest that sling exercise could be beneficial therapeutic method for hemiplegic shoulder. But to generalize it, more study and exercise program might be needed to confirm its availability.

  • Gyroscope is a very important core sensor as a rotation sensor in inertial space, in inertial guidance and navigation system on aeronautics. Plane, vessel and so on for civilian and millitary applications. Research and development of fiber optic gyroscope began in 1976 and focused on improving the gyroscope's sensitivity to rotation. bias performance and reducing noise. We have developed a Interferometric Fiber Optic' Gyroscope using a integrated-optic-circuit (IOC), which is operating with closed-loop electronic circuit. This paper describes the scheme of optical part and electronic part and also test results of this fiber optic gyroscope using a integrated-optic-circuit (IOC). The performance have been achieved as long-term bias drift of $1.73^{\circ}/h$.

  • Objective True lateral scapular image was very important to diagnosis the scapular fracture and dislocation induced by traumatic injury. The aim of this study was to know the patient rotation angle to be showing the scapular true lateral in Korean. Subjects and Materials Thirty patients(22men, 8 women, mean ages 53.4)with scapular pain, had supine anteroposterior projection taken with $32^{\circ}$, $37^{\circ}$, $42^{\circ}$ trunk rotation angle changing the manual angulation material. Radiographs were evaluated independently by 5 experienced observers(1 orthopedics surgery specialist, 1 diagnostic radiology specialist, 3 radiological technologist) They assessed overlab of vertebral border and axillary border of scapular as follows; Totally overlapping of vertebral border and axillary border is 4, partially overlapping is 3, not overlapping is 2 and oblique location with two borders is 1. All observers scored using by PACS monitor. Results $32^{\circ}$ trunk rotation was scored $1.53{\pm}0.39$, $37^{\circ}$ trunk rotation was scored $3.83{\pm}0.15$ and $42^{\circ}$trunk rotation was scored $2.17{\pm}0.43$. There was no difference(p<0.05) between group of more than 100cm of the girth of the chest and group of less than 100cm. Similarly, men and women group showed no difference(p<0.05) with trunk rotation statistically. Conclusions There was no result of trunk rotation angle to radiograph the true scapular lateral image up to date. This studies were summarized as follows; Adaptation of $37^{\circ}$ trunk rotation was the best to show the true scapular lateral image in Korean. Our results were very useful to get the true scapular lateral images in clinic.

  • The purposes of this study were to evaluate the cephalometric characteristics of Korean female patients with Class II division 2 malocclusion and to compare Korean females with Caucasian females who had same type of malocclusion. All of the samples had Class II division 2 malocclusion with deep overbite (more than 4mm) and full permanent dentition. These samples were divided into two groups according to the races: Group 1(N=16; Korean females; average age=18Y 2M) and Group 2 (N:20; Caucasian females; average age=14Y 2M). The pretreatment lateral cephalograms were measured, analyzed and compared by using 38 variables and independent t-test. And the results were as follows: 1. Although there were no differences in Overbite, SN to mandibular plane angle, Palatomandibular plane angle, and FMA between Group 1 and 2, the other vertical relation variables of maxilla and mandible (SN to palatal plane angle, SN to occlusal plane angle, ODI) of Group 1 showed more clockwise rotation tendency of occlusal plane and less hypodivergency tendency than those of Group 2. 2. There were no differences in mandibular body length and ramus height between Group 1 and 2 except small upper genial angle of Group 1. There was less counterclockwise rotation tendency of mandible in Group 1. 3. There were no statistical significant differences in UAFH/LAFH and PFH/AFH between Group 1 and 2. 4. Although there were no differences of overjet and anteroposterior position of mandible between Group 1 and 2, the position of maxilla of Group 1 was more retropositioned than that of Group 2. 5. Except the more protrusion of lower incisor to A-Pog of Group 1, there were no differences of inclination and distance of upper and lower incisors to basal plane between Group 1 and 2. 6. The distance from upper- first molar to palatal plane showed no difference between Group 1 and 2. But the distance from lower first molar to mandibular plane of Group 1 was greater than that of Group 2. So it may be partially related to the clockwise rotation of occlusal plane and the less counterclockwise rotation tendency of mandible of Group 1. 7. Group 1 had more protrusive upper and lower lips than Group 2.
