  • Heterogeneous IoT devices must satisfy a certain level of security for mutual connections and communications. However, a performance degradation of cryptographic algorithms in resource constrained devices is inevitable and so an optimization or efficient implementation method is necessary. In this paper, we study an efficient implementation method for rotation operations regarding registers for running ARX lightweight block ciphers. In a practical sense, we investigate the performance of modified rotation operations through experiments using real experiment devices. We show the improved performance of modified rotation operations and discover the significant difference in measured performance between simulations and real experiments, particularly for 16-bit MSP microcontrollers.

  • Physical sensor model in pushbroom satellite images can be made from sensor modeling by rotation parameters and attitude parameters on the satellite track. These parameters are determined by the information obtained from GPS, INS, or star tracker. Provided from satellite image, an auxiliary data error is connected directly with an error of rotation parameters and attitude parameters. This paper analyzed how obtaining satellite images influenced errors of rotation parameters and attitude parameters. furthermore, for detailed analysis, this paper generated simulated satellite image, which was changed variously by rotation parameters and attitude parameters of satellite sensor model. Simulated satellite image is generated by using high-resolution digital aerial image and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data. Moreover, this paper determined correlation of rotation parameter and attitude parameters through error analysis of simulated satellite image that was generated by various rotation parameters and attitude parameters.

  • Firstly, medial rotation and lateral rotation is when moving a hand inward and outward, while raising a hand with the elbow parallelizing to body, while the shoulder aligning with the body. We would like to identify treatments when either medial rotation or lateral rotation causes pain, or when the rotation lacks of measurement angle, when measured.

  • The field of body sensor networks has attracted interest of many researchers due to its potential to revolutionize medicine. These sensors are usually implanted inside the human body and communicate among themselves. In the process of receiving, processing, or transmitting data, these devices produce heat. This heat damages the tissues surrounding the devices in the case of prolonged exposure. In this paper, to reduce this damages, we have improved and evaluated two protocols-the least temperature routing protocol and adaptive least temperature routing protocol-by implementing clustering as well as a leadership rotation algorithm. We used Castalia to simulate a basic body area network cluster composed of 6 nodes. A throughput application was used to simulate all the nodes sending data to one sink node. Simulations results shows that improved communication protocol with leadership rotation algorithm significantly reduce the energy consumption as compared to a scheme without leadership rotation algorithm.

  • In this paper we studied an implementation of QR decomposition-based RLS algorithm using modified Givens rotation method. Givens rotation can be obtained with a sequence of the CORDIC operations. In order to reduce the computing time of QR decomposition we restricted the number of iterations of the CORDIC operation per a Givens rotation and used double-rotation method to remove the square-root in the scaling factor.

  • In mobile ad hoc networks where the communication nodes are moving around, one may perform dynamic routing that can increase the total communication throughput of the network, by determining the ranks of pairs of nodes according to their communication throughput. The balanced Howell rotation is a tournament design scheme for bridge games. This paper explains that the balanced Howell rotation can be applied to enhance the overall communication throughput of mobile ad hoc networks, and proposes and proves the condition under which the balanced Howell rotations may exist.

  • In order to solve the problem of point clouds coordinate conversion of non-directional scanners, this paper proposes a basic Rodrigues rotation method. Specifically, we convert the 6 degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) rotation and translation matrix into the uniaxial rotation matrix, and establish the equation of objective vector conversion based on the basic Rodrigues rotation scheme. We demonstrate the applicability of the new method by using a bar-shaped emboss point clouds as experimental input, the three-axis error and three-term error as validate indicators. The results suggest that the new method does not need linearization and is suitable for optional rotation angle. Meanwhile, the new method achieves the seamless splicing of point clouds. Furthermore, the coordinate conversion scheme proposed in this paper performs superiority by comparing with the iterative closest point (ICP) conversion method. Therefore, the basic Rodrigues rotation method is not only regarded as a suitable tool to achieve the conversion of point clouds, but also provides certain reference and guidance for similar projects.

  • In this paper, a method for effectively detecting rotated face and rotation angle regardless of the rotation angle is proposed. Rotated face detection is a challenging task, due to the large variation in facial appearance. In the proposed polar coordinate transformation, the spatial information of the facial components is maintained regardless of the rotation angle, so there is no variation in facial appearance due to rotation. Accordingly, features such as HOG, which are used for frontal face detection without rotation but have rotation-sensitive characteristics, can be effectively used in detecting rotated face. Only the training data in the frontal face is needed. The HOG feature obtained from the polar coordinate transformed images is learned using SVM and rotated faces are detected. Experiments on 3600 rotated face images show a rotation angle detection rate of 97.94%. Furthermore, the positions and rotation angles of the rotated faces are accurately detected from images with a background including multiple rotated faces.

  • The 2-way balanced one-level rotation design has been discussed (Park et al., 2001), where the 2-way balancing is done on interview time in monthly sample and rotation group. We extend it to 3-way balanced multi-level design to obtain more information of the same sample unit for one or more previous months. The 3-way balancing is accomplished not only on interview time in monthly sample and rotation group but also on recall time as well. The 3-way balancing eliminates or reduces any bias arising from unbalanced interview time, rotation group and recall time, and all rotation groups are equally represented in the monthly sample. We present the rule and rotation algorithm which guarantee the 3-way balancing. In particular, we specify the necessary and sufficient condition for the 3-way balanced multi-level rotation design.
