  • Objectives : In the acupuncture treatment of Korean Medicine, the Tonifying or Purging depending on how many times the needle is rotated has been used widely. However, there is little evidence about the optimal number of rotation. This study, therefore, was aimed to investigate the optimal number of rotation. Methods : Heart rate variation was measured before and after exercise in 20 healthy adults. Acupuncture was performed at PC6 immediately after exercise according to the protocol of each group without remaining. Pre-exercise and post-exercise measurements were compared and the rotation number that produced statistically significant difference was investigated. Results : Significant differences were found in the heart rate variation and R-R interval Average, between non-rotation group (control) and both of 15 times rotation group of tonifying and 6 times rotation group of purging. Conclusions : Significantly effective number of rotation in the effect of PC6 on the HR and RRAv was 15 times in the tonifying and 6 in the purging respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a rotation resistant robust logo embedding watermarking technique. Geometric manipulations make the detection process very complex and difficult. Watermark embedding in the normalized image directly suffers from smoothing effect due to the interpolation during the image normalization. This can be avoided by estimating the transform parameters using image normalization angle and moments, instead of embedding in the normalized image. Conventional rotation resistant schemes that use full frame transform. In this paper we adopt DCT and calculate masking using a spatio-frequency localization of the $8{\times}8$ block DCT coefficients. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against rotation process.

  • A large-eddy simulation is performed for turbulent flow in a concentric annulus with the inner wall rotation at Re$\sub$Dh/=8900 for three rotation rates N=0.2145, 0.429 and 0.858. Main emphasis is placed on the inner wall rotation effect on near-wall turbulent structures. Near-wall turbulent structures close to the inner wall are scrutinized by computing the lower-order statistics. The anisotropy invariant map for the Reynolds stress tensor and the invariant function are illustrated to reveal the altered anisotropy in turbulent structure. Probability density functions of the splat/anti-splat process are explored to develop a sufficiently complete picture of the contributions of the flow events to turbulent production. The present numerical results show that the altered turbulent structures may be attributed to the centrifugal instability, which leads to the augmentation of sweep and ejection events.

  • Reinforced concrete beams show increased ductile behavior when the compressive concrete is confined with transverse steel. In the inelastic range, the most variations of ductile behaviour are defined the equivalent length of the plastic hinge and the plastic hinge rotation. In an investigation to study the influence of such confinement, sixteen reinforced concrete beams were tested in flexure and the deflections noted at all stages of loading. For all the beams tested, the plastic hinge rotation have been computed and the effect of confinement on the same examined. The conclusions are summarized as follows: The equivalent lengths of the plastic hinge are ranged within the effective depth comparatively. The ability of the plastic hinge rotation of the reinforced concrete beams confined with transverse steel are enlarged when transverse reinforcement content are increased, but the spaces are more important as the shear force are largely increased.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to apply a general linear model in statistics to marker position vectors used to study human joint rotational motion in biomechanics. Method: For this purpose, a linear model that represents the effect of the center of hip joint rotation and the rotation of the marker position on the response was formulated. Five male subjects performed hip joint functional motions, and the positions of nine markers attached on the thigh with respect to the pelvic coordinate system were acquired at the same time. With the nine marker positions, the center of hip joint rotation and marker positions on the thigh were estimated as parameters in the general linear model. Results: After examining the fitted model, this model did not fit the data appropriately. Conclusion: A refined model is required to take into account specific characteristics of longitudinal data and other covariates such as soft tissue artefacts.

  • The new rheology fabrication process has been developed to rheo die casting and rheo forming process. Thixoforming process has disadvantages in terms of induction reheating process, scrap recycling, loss of raw material and cycle time. Therefore, to reduce the number of process, new rheology fabrication process with specially designed the rotational barrel type equipment has been proposed to apply in various part productions. The barrel type equipment, which could continuously fabricate the rheology materil, was specially designed to have a function to control cooling rate, shear rate and temperature. During the continuous rotation of barrel with a constant temperature, the shear rate is controlled with the rotation speed. The barrel surface has both the induction heating system and the cooling system to control the temperature of molten metal. By using this system, the effect of the rotation speed and the rotation time on the microstructure was widely examined. The possibility for the rheoforming process was investigated with microstructural characteristic.

  • In this paper we propose a new perspective for explaining galaxy rotation curves. We conjecture that there is a gravitational moment of inertia which, together with gravitational mass, contributes to the gravitational potential. We substantiate a formula for the potential created by the moment of inertia. We validate our model by computing orbital rotation velocities for several galaxies and showing that computed rotation velocities correspond to the observed ones. Our proposed approach is capable of accounting for constant gas velocities outside of a galactic disc without relying on the dark matter hypothesis. Furthermore, it addresses several problems faced by the application of the dark matter hypothesis, e.g., the absence of inward collapse of dark matter into a galaxy, the spherical distribution of dark matter around galaxies, and absence of traces of the effect of dark matter in two ultra-diffuse galaxies, NGC 1052-DF2, and NGC 1052-DF4.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of job rotation on employees' motivation and satisfaction. That is, it is the ultimate aim to know why employees want job rotation or why not, whether the rotation has an effect on their motivation, and finally whether the motivation gives direct job satisfaction. As a result of the survey, the efficiency and procedure of job rotation have influence on motivation. The employees also think that regular rotation can help them to find the proper position to meet their aptitude. And motivation also affects employees' achievement, benefits, and relationship with their bosses. Especially, when they feel great achievement and pride in their jobs, their satisfaction appeared to be very high. And when they are paid properly in comparison with their workload, or they learn special knowledge from their bosses, they usually content themselves.

  • This study was conducted to offer a basic material for effective human resource management of nurses by studying correlations among inter-department rotation, job motivation and organizational commitment. For this study 159 nurses in a medical college hospital were surveyed. Organization Assessment Instrument(Van de Ven. 1980) and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (Mowday, 1979) were used. SPSS was used to analyze the data. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Nurses who had been rotated to other departments showed higher motivation scores than those who had not. 2. Nurses who had been rotated also indicated higher organizational commitment scores than those who had not. 3. There was significant positive correlations among nurse's age, job motivation and organizational commitment of nurses. 4. There was significant positive correlations among nurse's experience, job motivation and organizational commitment of nurses. 5. Inter-department rotation times were significant positive correlation with job motivation. 6. "The sense of achievement perceived form performing one's duty" was the most important criteria that nurses consider in measuring their job motivation. As to the criteria for inter-department rotation, some respondents stated that it is needed when "current assignments are not suited for particular individuals" and such rotations would job motivation and elevate the morale of nurses involved." Many opposed using the rotations as a "means of reprimanding individuals." In conclusion, inter-department rotation has a positve effect on the nurse's job motivation and organizational commitment, so regular inter-department rotation have to be recommended to nurses who want rotation.

  • Rotation sampling designs may be classified into two categories. The first type uses the same sample unit for the entire life of the survey. The second type uses the sample unit only for a fixed number of times. In both type of designs, the entire sample is partitioned into a finite number(=G) of rotation groups. This paper is generalization of the first type designs. Since the generalized design can be identified by only G rotation groups and recall level 1, we denote this rotation system as l/G rotation design. Under l/G rotation design, variance and mean squared error (MSE) of generalized composite estimator are derived, incorporating two type of biases and exponentially decaying correlation pattern. Compromising MSE's of some selected l/G designs, we investigate design efficiency, design gap effect, ans the effects of correlation and bias.
