이동질량과 압축력을 받는 티모센코 회전축의 무차원 변수 연구 (Nondimensional Parametric Study of a Timoshenko Rotating Shaft Subject to Moving Mass and Compressive Axial Forces)

  • The Timoshenko beam theories are used to model the rotating shaft. The nondimensional equations of motion for the rotating shaft subjected to moving mass and compressive axial forces are derived by using Hamilton's principle. Influence of system parameters such as the speed ratio. the mass ratio and the Rayleigh coefficient is discussed on the response of the moving system. The effects of compressive axial forces are also included in the analysis. The results are presented and compared with the available solutions of a rotating shaft subject to a moving mass and a moving load.

  • This paper introduces the mechanism of the ESD(electrostatic discharge) in the HDD spindle system using FDBs(fluid dynamic bearings). When a HDD(hard disk drive) spindle system is rotating, triboelectric charging occurs in the FDBs through the friction between the lubricant and the rotating shaft or between the lubricant and stationary sleeve. And this electrostatic charge is accumulated in the rotating parts of the HDD spindle system because they are insulated from the ground by the lubricant. This research shows experimentally that the behavior of electric charge and discharge in the FDB spindle system is the same as that of a capacitor. It also measures the electrostatic voltage difference between the rotating and stationary parts in the FDB spindle system due to the change of humidity, supporting load and motor speed. This research shows that the control of ESD is required in the HDD spindle system using FDBs, because the electrostatic charge accumulated in the FDB spindle system may cause the breakdown damage of the GMR head and data loss consequently.

다중빔을 이용한 광 저장 장치에 관한 연구 (Study on a Optical Storage Device Based on Multi-beam)

  • A new multi-beam optical system is presented on the grounds of tri-positioning systems in this paper. The system has been developed to improve the data transfer rate for the optical disk system. The actuating system is composed of a tracking and focusing actuating system basically and a newly developed beam rotating actuator. The beam rotating actuator is employed in a multi-beam optical system to trace more than one track simultaneously. The multi-beam optics is established through the optical simulation and several experimental trials. The differential phase tracking method is used in the tracking error signal detection based on the only one beam spot. We also analyze the characteristics of multi-beam optical system. The experimental result shows that the multi-beam positioning system has performance adequate to the multi-beam optical disk system.

  • 회전식 연료 노즐의 분무특성을 알기 위해서 고속회전 시험장치를 이용하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 시험장치는 연료공급장치, 고속 회전장치 그리고 아크릴 케이스로 구성되어있다. Injection orifice의 직경 및 개수를 변화시켜가며 분무실험을 수행하였다. 액적의 크기 및 속도는 PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer)시스템을 이용하여 측정하였다. 실험결과로부터 Injection orifice의 직경 및 개수변화에 따른 회전식 노즐의 분무특성을 이해 할 수 있었다.

유체유동 회전 외팔 파이프의 안정성 해석 (Stability Analysis of a Rotating Cantilever Pipe Conveying Fluid)

  • In this paper the vibration system is composed of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid. The equation of motion is derived by using the Lagrange's equation. Generally, the system of pipe conveying fluid becomes unstable by flutter. Therefore, the influence of the rotating angular velocity, mass ratio and the velocity of fluid flow on the stability of a cantilever pipe by the numerical method are studied. The influence of mass ratio, the velocity of fluid, the angular velocity of a cantilever pipe and the coupling of these factors on the stability of a cantilever pipe are analytically clarified. The critical fluid velocity ($u_{cr}$) is proportional to the angular velocity of the cantilever pipe. In this paper Flutter(instability) is always occurred in the second mode of the system.

이차원 와류 병합에 대한 수치적 연구 (Numerical analysis on two-dimensional vortex merger)

  • During flight of the aircraft, the vortex merging phenomenon appears under the certain condition between co-rotating vortices which were generated at the wing tip and lifting-surface. And then these merged vortices at both sides show counter-rotating pattern to affect on the downstream of the aircraft. In this paper, the numerical simulations are conducted assuming this phenomenon in two-dimensional co-rotating or counter-rotating vortices pairs. Two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations were converted into Vorticity-Streamfunction form and the Galerkin spectral method was adopted. The third order Runge-Kutta method was used for time integration. The effects on the vortex merger and degree of vortex merger were investigated according to time, Reynolds number, and changes in the distance between two vortices.

  • In this paper. the correlation among vibration. wear and temperature are experimentally investigated when rubbing is caused by static and dynamic forces. Each measurement reflects the characteristics of the system and is useful in detecting and diagnosing the current status of rotating machinery. For experiment, the rotor system with lubricating equipment such as trochoid pump, oil tank and wear detecting sensor is implemented to simulate the rubbing condition. Experimental results show that significant change in wear quantity can be notified when vibration signal is changed by rubbing. The results can be applied to system monitoring and fault diagnosis in rotating machinery.

  • In this paper the vibration system is consisted of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid and tip mass. The equation of motion is derived by using the Lagrange's equation. The system of pipe conveying fluid becomes unstable by flutter. Therefore, the influence of a rotating angular velocity, mass ratio, the velocity of fluid flow and tip mass on the stability of a cantilever pipe by the numerical method are studied. The critical flow velocity for flutter is proportional to the angular velocity and tip mass of the cantilever pipe. Also, the critical flow velocity and stability maps of the pipe system are obtained by changing the mass ratios.

고속회전 아크센서 개발 및 그 응용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of High Speed Rotating Arc Sensor and Its Application)

  • This paper presents a seam tracking controller of high speed rotating arc sensor developed by microprocessor based system. The seam tracking algorithm is based on the average current value at each interval region of four phase points on one rotating cycle. To remove the noise effect for the measured current, the area during one rotating cycle is separated into four regions of front, rear, left and right. The average values at each region are calculated, using the regional current values and a low pass filter incorporating the moving average and exponential smoothing methods is adopted. The effectiveness is proven through the experimental results for several kinds of welding condition.

Offset 베어링을 활용한 터보냉동기의 회전체동역학 설계 (Rotor Dynamic Design of the Centrifugal Chiller Using Offset Bearing)

  • A rotor dynamic analysis is implemented to confirm the vibration stability of the high speed centrifugal chiller coupled with gear system. As the rotating speed of the centrifugal chiller under investigation is increased up to 17605rpm at the pinion rotating part, the bearing instability is getting higher and, furthermore, the rotor-bearing system might experience a few critical speed which lead to system failure due to the excessive vibration. In this study, considering the loading capacity and stability conditions, offset journal bearings are adopted for the pinion rotating system and general cylindrical bearings are used for motor part. From the modal analysis, the system is found to be stable as the critical damping ratio which shows the damping characteristics of the system are positive over all operating ranges, and in addition, the synchronous rotating frequency does not come across with any whirl natural frequency. From these results the authors confirm the vibration stability of the rotor-bearing system suggested in this study.
