Effect of Shot Peening on Fatigue Strength of JISG4081SUP7-DIN50CrV4 Steel (JISG4081SUP7-DIN50CrV4강의 피로강도에 미치는 쇼트피이닝의 영향)

  • Recently the steel parts used at automobiles are required to be used under high stress more than ever before in need of the weight down. To achieve this requirement of a high strength steel, it must be necessary to decrease inclusion content and surface defect as like decarburization, surface roughness etc.. In this study, the surface conditions are measured to know the influence on fatigue properties by two cases of shot peening of two-stage shot peening and single-stage shot peening. And for this study, two kinds of spring steel (JISG4081SUP7, DIN 50CrV4) are used. This study shows the outstanding improvement of fatigue properties at the case of two-stage shot peening in the rotary bending fatigue test and this is assumed to be from on low stress condition, the 1st stage shot peening is not affected by nonmetallic inclusion under metal. it is possible that the 2nd stage shot peening increases the fatigue life and the high stress but that is affected by nonmetallic inclusion under metal. so far beeasily DIN50CrV4 have made high stress. But, results also show fatigue failures originated at inclusion near surface, and this inclusion type is turned out to be a alumina of high hardness.

  • This paper presents the design, fabrication, and testing results of a dual stage actuator system for a fine positioning of magnetic heads in magnetic disk drives. A novel rotary microactuator which is electrostatically driven and utilized as a secondary actuator was designed. The stator and rotor electrodes in the microactuator was revised to have the optimal shapes and hence produces much higher rotational torque compared with the conventional comb-shape electrodes. The microactuators were successfully fabricated using SoG(silicon on glass) processing technology, which is known as being cost-effective. The fabricated microactuator has the structural thickness of $45{\mu}m$ with the gap width of approximately $3{\mu}m$. The dynamic characteristic of microactuator/slider assembly was investigated, and its natural frequency and DC gain were measured to be 3.4kHz and 32nm/V, respectively. The microactuator/slider assembly was integrated into a HDD model V10 of Samsung Electronics Co. and a dual servo algorithm was tested to explore the tracking performance of dual stage actuator system where the LDV signals instead of magnetic head signals were used. Experimental results indicate that this system achieves the tracking accuracy of 30nm. This value corresponds to a track density of 85,000 track per inch(TPI), which is about 3 times greater than that of current hard disk drives.

Solubility Consideration in Performance Analysis of a $CO_2$ Twin Rotary Compressor (오일 용해도를 고려한 $CO_2$ 트윈 로타리 압축기 성능해석)

  • For a $CO_2$ two-stage twin rotary compressor used for heat pump water heater system, changes of $CO_2$ solubility in PAG oil were investigated along the gas passages from the first stage suction to final discharge. Only slight changes in solubility took place in suction chambers for both of the first and second stages, but for compression chambers, solubility variation ranged from 0.115 to 0.136, and from 0.133 to 0.182, respectively for the first and second stages. Calculation of gas flashing in parts of leakage oil flows and of oil contained in control volumes due to solubility changes was conducted and included in gas pressure calculation. For the second stage, gas flashing amounts to around $5%\sim6%$ for most leakage flows. Cooling capacity, compressor input, and COP obtained by calculation were well compared to the experimental results. Effects of operation speed on the compressor performance was also studied: as the shaft speed increased, adiabatic efficiency decreased rapidly due to increased over-compression loss.

  • Fuel used in the steel metallurgy industry is stored in huge stage systems called SILO. Fuel is released by RDM (Rotary Discharge Machine), at the place of utilization. RDM is located in the Silo, and is constituted of a main frame, driving part, discharging part and control part. RDM is combined to a direct motion on the rail in tunnel, having a rotary motion enabled by a motor. In this paper, we calculate the theoretical discharging capacity of RDM to confirm the correlation between design element and discharging capacity of RDM. Also, through structure analysis, we confirm the vulnerable point of RDM when it discharges the storage materials. We hope to apply these results to design a more efficient RDM.

  • Precision stages are essential device for micro machines, fiber optic assembly systems, and biology instruments. In this paper, a precision inchworm type actuator for a linear stage is proposed and evaluated. An analytic method to design an inchworm type motor is proposed. Developed actuator provides fast motion compared with a commercial inchworm actuator, and can be used as an actuator for a stage in substitution for a conventional rotary actuator.

  • This paper presents the efforts of the studies for improvement of spin characteristics of KTX-1 #02 through rotary balance test, forced oscillation test and spin mode analysis. During the full scale development design stage, we had fullfilled a lot of spin flight test, spin mode analysis. Based on all of the efforts, KTX-1 had been developed as a successful trainer with excellent spin characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the PTO severeness for an agricultural tractor during disk plow and rotary tillage. The PTO load measurement system was constructed with data acquisition and a PTO torquemeter. Field experiments were conducted at a combination of traveling speed (L3 Low, L3 High) and PTO speed (P1, P2). The load spectrum was generated using the rain-flow counting method, and the SWT method was used to consider the range and mean of the PTO load. The damage sum was calculated by applying a modified miner rule, which is a cumulative damage law. The relative severeness was expressed as the ratio of the lowest damage sum. Relative severeness was higher with the lower PTO gear stage, and higher driving gear stage and it was approximately 40-102 times higher for rotary tillage than disk plow tillage in the same gear stages. The relative severeness was 1010.12 in the rotary tillage under L3 High P1 based on the disk plow tillage under L3 Low P2.
