  • This study was conducted to determine the three main factors [rooting time, plant growth regulators (PGRs), rooting medium] of cuttage for mass production of Sageretia thea. The experiment was observed on cuttage tray after 120 days and classified by rooting times, plant growth regulators, rooting medium. Materials were collected from natural habitats of S. thea from the Korean peninsula at March, July and September during 2019. As a result of the experiment, rooting times were showed statistically significant differences. March group's rooting rate and root length were 15 and 200% better than others. In PGRs experiment by concentration, There was no significant correlation between the control and experiment in terms of rooting rate. However, In the case of root length, IBA 500 mg/L, IBA 250 mg/L and IAA 1,000 mg/L groups were lengthened up to 170% compared to the control group, confirming statistically significant differences. As a result, we recommend treating cuttings with IBA 500 mg/L in March with Hardwood cutting.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the propagation characteristics of Cephalotaxus koreana by cutting, whose plant has been known to new anticancer treatments. The treatments of plant growth regulators, cutting media temperature and growing media were investigated to know the rooting ability of cuttings. For rooting formation affected by plant growth regulators and its concentration, The application of IBA 100 mg/L was most effective in all of the characteristics including rooting rate of 88.5%. The optimum media temperature by cutting was $24^{\circ}C$ (treatment IBA 100 mg/L, rooting rate 84.6%), predicting that greenwood cutting from June to July is most effective. VPPL (vermiculite+peatmoss+perlite 1:1:1(v/v/v)) showed the highest value in all of the characteristics including rooting rate of 68.5% for the effect of growing media on rooting formation.

  • Recently, the number of attacks by malicious application has significantly increased, targeting Android-platform mobile terminal such as Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 10.1. The malicious application can be distributed to currently used mobile devices through open market masquerading as an normal application. An attacker inserts malicious code into an application, which might threaten privacy by rooting attack. Once the rooting attack is successful, malicious code can collect and steal private data stored in mobile terminal, for example, SMS messages, contacts list, and public key certificate for banking. To protect the private information from the malicious attack, malicious code detection, rooting attack detection and countermeasure method are required. To meet this end, this paper investigates rooting attack mechanism for Android-platform mobile terminal. Based on that, this paper proposes countermeasure system that enables to extract and collect events related to attacks occurring from mobile terminal, which contributes to active protection from malicious attacks.

  • Studies were carried out to standardize and develop a suitable macro-propagation technology for large scale production of superior clonal stock through stem cuttings in Commiphora wightii Arnott (Bhandari), a data deficient medicinal plant of arid region. For the purpose, three experiments were conducted. The first experiment was tried to elucidate the impact of various cutting diameters (0.50-0.75 cm, 0.75-1.00 cm, 1.00-1.50 cm, and >1.50 cm) in combination with varying growing conditions (sunlight, shade house and mist chamber) on shoot sprouting and rooting without using exogenous plant growth regulators. Cutting diameter (size 0.75-1.00 cm) in mist chamber has shown maximum sprouting (90.00%) and rooting (73.33%), primary root (6.67) and secondary root (16.67) followed by 1.00-1.51 cm in mist chamber. Minimum sprouting (40.00%), rooting (33.33%), number of shoot (1.33), primary root (1.00) and number of secondary root (1.00) was recorded in cutting diameter (size >1.50 cm) in sunlight. Second experiment was performed to find out optimum growth regulator concentration of rooting hormone (100, 200, 500 and 1000 ppm) of Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and Indole-3-butyric Acid (IBA) on adventitious root formation on cuttings diameter (size 0.25-0.50 cm) in comparison to control. Maximum rooting percentage (93.33%) was recorded in 200 ppm followed by 500 ppm (86.66%) of IBA as compared to control, which showed only 60 per cent sprouting. Third experiment was performed with newly formed juvenile micro-cuttings treated with varying concentrations of IAA and IBA. The juvenile cuttings (size 6-10 cm, basal dia <0.25 cm) were selected as micro-cuttings. The cuttings treated with IBA (500 ppm) showed 64.30% rooting as compared to other treatments. Results of above experiments indicate that cuttings (size 0.75-1.00 cm dia) may be developed in mist chamber for better performance. While using heavier cuttings, no growth promoting hormones is required however; growth regulator 200 ppm concentration of IBA rooting hormone was observed optimum for promoting macro-propagation in stem cuttings of lower diameter class (0.25-0.50 cm).

  • 100% root formation in in vitro cultures was observed regardless of kind and levels of auxin used and explant source. The number of roots/explant was increased in 0.5~1.0 mg/L IAA treatment. Thicker roots were observed with the addition of 9% sucrose compared with medium containing lower sucrose concentrations. Paclobutrazol and chlormequat had no effect on tuberization of formed roots but slightly increased the number of root. In in vivo rooting, soaking of regenerated shoot cuttings to 100 mg/L IBA for 15 to 60 minutes was found effective. Treatment of 0.1% IBA rooting powder and planting in rooting medium composred of vermiculite(1) : perlite(1) gave 100% rooting and survival.

  • To define the effects of synthetic auxins on rooting from the ginseng stern cutting and the root growth in diameter after the rooting of the cuttings, stern cuttings with palmate leaves obtained from seedlings and 2-year old ginseng plants were planted in rooting media treated with solutions of the synthetic auxins. All the roots induced from the cuttings were adventitious fibrous roots at first, but a few adventitious roots of the cutting were thickened in diameter to over 2 to 3mm at 120 days after cutting and the rest of them disappeared. IBA was the most effective auxin for rooting and root growth in diameter after rooting from the cuttings. The shape of the roots that thickened in diameter could be divided into two types. Both types of thickened roots were fully lignified at 120 days after cutting and those thickened roots did not dry up or die by July of the next year, however no rhyzomes or shoot primodia were induced from them.

  • This study was conducted to determine the optimum rooting media composition for the production of high-quality rose cuttings. The percentage of rooting was highest in peatmoss (P) and coarse vermiculite (CV) mixture (1:2, v/v). In 'Little Mable' and 'Suplesse', the rate was above 95%, and 'Red Velvet', 'Noblesse', 'Rote Rose', and 'Sweetness' showed 100% rooting rate. 'Rote Rose' showed lowest rooting rate, but in the composition, the rate was 100%. In the composition, root growth was accelerated. Root number, root weight, and root diameter increased in P:CV (1:2) mixture. However, root length increased in peatmoss and perlite mixture (1:2). This results might be caused by the water holding capacity and porosity of the rooting media composition.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of rooting and bud break of single-stemmed roses (Rosa hybrida L. 'Rate Rose' and 'Teresa') as affected by axillary bud position and leaf area of cuttings derived from different growth stage of the mother shoots. In fact, both rooting and budbreak of single-stemmed roses were not influenced by growth stage of mother shoots, with showing more than 95% in all treatment related to mother shoot maturity. 'Rote Rose' required 34 days to average rooting and budbreak after cutting, whereas 'Teresa' did only 18 days to budbreak which was 9 days faster than rooting. Rooting and bud break needed more time and showed lower percent as the axillaty bud position for cuttings went down to the base of mother shoots. Especially 'Teresa' showed 12 days of delay to budbreak and 14.4% decrease in budbreak. Also, the increase in leaf area of cuttings accelerated rooting and budbreak, of which the time was shorter and the percent was higher.

  • Most of Cudriania tricuspidata Bureau saplings in Korea have been produced by crown division. But the production of Cudriania tricuspidata B. saplings by this method is very low in efficiency and in uniformity. Therefore, to develop Cudriania tricuspidata B. saplings production system by cutting method which is suitable for mass production, several conditions on rooting and growth of cuttings were investigated. The rooting ability of cuttings varied according to temperature on the bed, length, thickness of the hard wood cutting and rooting agent application. Of different concentration of rooting agent, the 5,000 ppm of 1-naphthalenacetic acid(NAA) and Indole butyric acid(IBA) were found to be the highest in rooting of hardwood cuttings; other concentration were in order as follows; 2,500, 1,000 and 10,000 ppm in concentration of rooting agents. The shading ratio of polyethylene film showed the highest rooting ratio of the softwood cuttings at 55%.
