The purpose of this exploratory study was to analyze nursing role conceptions and test the relationships between nursing role conceptions and professional commitment among selected Korean nurses. Data were obtained from a convenience sample of 262 practising nurses of varying positions, education, and experience. The total sample represents a response rate of 93 percent. Subscales of Nursing Role Conceptions (Pieta, 1976) were used to measure professional, service, and bureaucratic role conceptions 1 the tool to measure professional commitment was developed by the investigator. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Professional role conception and service role conception were positively related(normative r= .61 : categorical r= .64). Bureaucratic role conception scores(32.6$\pm$4.97) were higher than professional and service role conception scores. 2. Experience was positively related to bureaucratic professional categorical role conception(r= .17, p< .01), and negatively related to bureaucratic professional role discrepancy(r=- .12, p< .01). There was no relationship between experience and service role conception. This study also showed that nurses who had longer experience tended to have higher role conceptions on all three subscales. 3. Nurses with a master's degree had significantly higher professional and bureaucratic role conceptions scores. Bacealaureates graduates had the lowest bureaucratic categorical role conception scores ; associate nurses had the lowest professional categorical role conception scores. 4. Nursing supervisors and head nurses had significantly higher bureaucratic categorical role coneption scores, whereas they had lower bureaucratic normative and professional role conception scores. 5. Age and experience were positively related to professional commitment (r= .24, r= .28). Hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed that the combination of nursing role conceptions explained greater variance in professional commitment pair of the variables alone. Further research employing dynamic designs is needed to execute rigorous tests of causal models of nursing role conceptions and professional commitment. The findings of this study suggest that antecedents and moderating variables of nursing role conception and professional commitment need to be explored for further theoretical. specification and empirical evaluation.

This study was to analyze role conception and job satisfaction of clinical nurses by using questionnaire as designed by Corwin and Paula. For this study questionnaires from 422 nurses working at three university hospitals in Seoul were collected during September 11 to 24, 1995. Statistical analyses were done by the SPSS. The techniques used in this study inclued Chi-square test, Pearson correlation coefficients, t-test, ANOVA. For the reliability of the questionnaire, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Role conception of the subjects Five Likert scale variables were used to measure role conception including professional aspect, task aspect, and bureaucratic aspect. The variables measured and their means are as follows; Total mean score for role conception was 4.2. Role conception from professional aspect(4.29); task aspect(4.18): bureaucratic aspect(4.09). 2. Job satisfaction of the subjects Five Likert scale variables were used to measure job satisfaction. The variables measured and their means are as follows; Total mean score for job satisfaction was 2.98. Job satisfaction from interaction (3.49): professinal status(3.19): autonomy(3.17): nurse-doctor relationship(2.90): task requirement(2.82): administration(2.32): salary (2.12). 3. The relationship between general characteristics and role conception. There were statistically significant differences in age(F=5.465, p<.000). merrital status(t=-2.70, p<.007), education(F=3.252, p<.022), work department(F=4.186, p<.003), work experience(F=4.457, p<.001), job position(F=8.141, p<.000). 4. The relationship between general characteristics and job satisfaction There were statistically significant difference In education(F=4.043, p<.003), work department(F=4.218, p<.002). job position(F=8.141, p<.000). 5. The correlation between role conception and job satisfaction It showed positive correlation that there was increased role conception, there was increased job satisfaction(r=.3092, p<.001). There were positive correlation in bureaucratic aspect, task aspect, and professional aspect in order.
The purposes of this article were three folds; to find general trends of the conception of love, sexual attitudes and mate conditions of unmarried men and women, to investigate relationships among them and to analyze the effect of significant variables influencing mate conditions. The samples were the 164 unmarried men and 235 unmarried women living in Kwang-ju. Major findings were as follows; 1) Unmarried men revealed higher concern in commitment of love and they were more liberal in sexual attitudes than women. Women desired higher level of mate conditions than men compared with themselves. 2) Women's conception of love was more related to their sexual attitudes and homogeneous mate conditions than men. Men's sexual attitudes were related to their homogeneous mate conditions, while those of women were related to interactional mate conditions. 3) Men's external mate conditions were affected by job, and internal mate conditions were affected by passion of love and sex role attitude. Men's homogeneous mate conditions were affected by attitude of premarital sexual experience, intimacy of love and conception of sexuality, and those of women's were affected by passion of love and age. Men's interactional mate conditions were affected by sex role attitude, job and education. Therefore unmarried men and women's conception of love and sexual attitudes were associated with homogeneous and interactional mate conditions.
The purpose of this study is to detect the possibility of the development of conception of a graph and the formula with the absolute value through context questions, and also to investigate the effectiveness of the each step of the mathematical modeling activities in helping students to have the conception. The research was conducted to analyze the process of development of the mathematical conception by applying the mathematical modeling activities two times to subjects of two academic high school students in the first grade. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, the subjects were able to comprehend the geometric conception of the absolute value and to make the graph and the formula with the sign of the absolute value by utilizing the condition of the question. Secondly, the researcher set five steps of the intentional mathematical model in order to arouse the effective mathematical notion and each step performed a role in guiding the subjects through the mathematical thinking process in consecutive order; consequently, it was efficacious in developing the conception.
The purpose of this study is as well as Body decoration is a means to identify self-expression from the original nature of an individual freedom and originality, so there remains a race has not a cloth on, but there is no race does not pierce, it has been done with the beginning of a mankind. Subjects for this study were 202 persons, who experienced body piercing with twenties as the central figure. Statistical analysis was done by using SPSS 10.0 version and included AVOVA, Cronbach ${\alpha}$ realbility, Multiple Regression Analysis, Duncan's multiple range test, and Cross tabulation analysis. The result are as follow, The difference of self-conception classified by body piercer's sex distinction did not show significantly. Of the body piercer's feeling of depression to a sex role, neuter gender's feeling of depression showed highly in case of the physical self and the moral self and in case of the social self neuter's feeling and feminine gender's feeling to a sex role showed high. For the reason why he/she did body piercing, neuter gender's feeling showed high in case of influenced by the fashion and masculine gender's and feminine gender's feeling showed high in case of influenced by the curiosity. The body decoration classified by self-conception of body piercer did not show a significant difference.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the direction and strategy of education for sex role concepts of children on the basis of factor analysis of the present situation in sex role concepts and their formation. Although some maintain that sex role concept of our society has been changing slowly, the traditional sex role concept still dominates and is potentially immanent. the analysis of present condition of our society indicates that the formal as well as informal education are facing with various crucial problems in providing the direction of behavior demanded for carrying out the role. The close analysis of the three theories, psychoanalytic theory , social learning theory, cognitive development theory, lends a support to the laim of the study that cognitive development theory provide an integrated frame of reference for us to see the sex role education analytically Furthermore, the factors which are found to have influences on the formation of sex role have been analyzed in three areas: Family, School and society. 1)The factors in family such as parental behavior of upbringing and their concepts of sex role have a direct relationship with the nature of sex tole concept of children. Therefore, the first step to make children to habe a new type of sex-role conception appropriate for modern societies is to change that of parental conception and attitudes. 2)the quantitative as well as the qualitative aspects of school education showed no exceptional trend from the dominant conception of the society, although school are expected to lead the society as formal education institution rather than just reflect the society. The educational activities and contents such as the conceived goal of education for eoch sex, textbook constitation, teaching behavior and sex-role concepts of teacher are found to be still dominated by the traditional sex-role assumption. 3) The social factors that have direct relationship with children's sex-role formation are social and cultural, which include social milieu, condition of employment, family structure and mass-media. Since family and school do not educate the young in a social vacuum. their educational function of sex-role formation are doomed to be limited and determined by these social factors. Unfortunately, the analysis of present conditions showed the dominance of traditional types of sex-role concepts in all these social factors. The education of sex-role concept for children should be treated as one of the most crucial value problems related with many other important problems, such as direction and patterns of behaviors of each sex, the degree of self-development and capabilities, and consequently human right, equality, humanization and the quality of happiness. Neverthless, the analysis of researches on sex-role education which have been surveyed in this study lead to a conclusion that concerted effort to change the education, formal as well as informal should be provided in every aspect of social life. If the sex role education of the past has aimed at the "feminization"of girls which indoctrinate girls into a limited and fixed role of house wives, the new education in the future should be directed foward "humanization" of both sexes which opens the diversity of roles for both boys and girl on equal levels and provide future possibilities in accordance to their individual capabilities and interests.
The purpose of this study is to help dental hygienist's efficient work and 10 use this data as basic material for quality improvement of medical treatment by identify and analyze dental hygienist's job-stress and self-conception. This data was surveyed by 197 dental hygienists who working at Dental Clinic, Dentist's office, and Dental Dept on the General hospital in Daegu area. The result as follow. 1. General characters of dental hygienist who participated this survey was mostly less than 25years old and works in the Dentist's office. 2. The dental hygienist's job stress average 259, self-conception was average 3.06. 3. A stress degree by the primary factors appeared that the stress related to Role-conflict was the hygienist. On the other hand, stress related to employees was the lowest. 4. Concerning the stress of respondent's expert knowledge or technique, there exist statistically significant relations in age(p=0.000). Total period of work(p=0.000)), marriage(yes or no)(p=0.012), number of job movement(p=0.024). 5. Concerning the mutual analyze between stress by the primary factors and self-conception, there exist statistically significant relations in stress from expert knowledge or technique(p<0.05, r=0.l53), conflict with patient(p<0.001, r=0.347), conflict between dentist and patient(p<0.05, r=0.159), relationship with employee(p<0.05, r=0.l83). In conclusion, there were significant relations between job-stress and conception. The study of program development for the self-conceit, positive attitude and self-conception are highly required to help dental hygienist's efficient work.
This study examines the conception of the self using indigenous, cultural and psychological analysis. The self is viewed from four aspects: (1) conception of the self as an entity (the self in general, the self as an unique entity and the self when alone), (2) conception of self in the context of family (the self when with mother, father, children and spouse), (3) the self with the context of close and working relationships (the self when with friends, teachers, work superior and work subordinate), and (4) the self in context of the larger society (the self when with strangers and foreigners). A total of 1,465 respondents (623 elementary, middle, high and university students and their parents = 842) completed an open-ended questionnaire developed by the present authors. The results reveal two patterns of results. First, the conception of self in Korea is influence by one's role. Second, the conception of self in influenced by relationship and context and there is an emphasis on the flexibility and adjustment of the self to relationship and context. Implications of the conception of the self in context of relationships, roles, and contexts are discussed, along with the importance of indigenous, cultural and psychological analysis.
"Wrongful conception" is a medical malpractice claim in which the plaintiff is the parent of a normal, healthy infant whose conception was unplanned and unwanted. Medical malpractice in wrongful conception can be the result of a failure to provide informed consent to a patient, failure to properly perform a surgery, or a physician's negligent handling of a patient's problems. In the concrete, wrongful conception cases fall into two categories; those involving pre-conception negligence, such as a failed contraceptive, sterilization or failing of the controlling of embryo-number on the IVF, and those involving post-conception negligence, such as a failure to diagnose a pregnancy or to perform an abortion procedure. In addition, Medical malpractice can be the result of a failure to provide informed consent to a patient. When bad results occur by medical malpractice or failure to provide informed consent to a patient, the range of recovery of damages is decided by a traditional civil liability law. However the calculation of damages for wrongful conception is not easy because the high value of life is included in that case. So many courts opinions in foreign country and Seoul High Court decision in 1996 allow damages for the pregnancy, birthing process and sterilization costs, but refuses to allow damages for child rearing expenses. As to the range of recovery of damages for wrongful conception, one approach says that to allow damages in a suit such as this would mean that the physician would have to pay for the fun, joy and affection which plaintiff will have in the rearing and educating of the plaintiff's baby. To allow such damages would be against the dignity of the baby based on article 10 of the Constitution. However another approach says that damages are recoverable for all expenses related to child birth as well as for child rearing costs. Because the damages that the parents should bear a burden to the tort damage done is not a baby itself but child rearing costs. In other words, although the baby is healthy or not, economic burden of the parents can not be disregard. And denial of compensation for costs of child rearing may invalidate the role of liability law, grant the physician with a exemption certificate of liability. As a result, the medical field of procreation can be easily isolated from a liability of reparation. Therefore, on the liability law like the other medical malpractice action, parents who became pregnant or gave a birth by physician, wrongfully performed sterilization operation, etc. should be compensated for all damages relevant to unplanned and unwanted conception or birth as well as costs of child rearing.

In this study, the relationships among cognitive conflict, situational interest, and conceptual change in studying boiling point were investigated. The differences in the relationships by gender were also investigate. Students of 7th grade(N=370) participated in this study. First, a preconception test was administered to choose students who possessed the misconception studied. After presenting anomalous data, test of response to anomalous data and state interest test were administered. After the instruction with a CAI program, a conception test was administered immediately. The conception test was administered again as a retention test four weeks later. The scores of both cognitive conflicts and state interest test were found to be significantly correlated with the scores of the conception test and the retention test. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that state interest was significantly more important than cognitive conflict in prediction the degrees of conceptual change and retention of conception. For male students, state interest was the only significant predictor of conceptual change and retention of conception. In contrast, cognitive conflict was the only significant predictor for female students.
