현대패션에 나타난 그로테스크에 관한 연구: 2000년 이후 컬렉션을 중심으로 (A Study on the Grotesque in Modern Fashion - Women's Fashion Collections since 2000)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the concept and characteristics of 'grotesque,' examine the aesthetic characteristics of grotesque reflected in arts and dress, and modern fashion. The findings are as follows: 1) Grotesque indicates unnatural, unpleasant, and exaggerated that it upsets or shocks person. The characteristics of grotesque include terror, abnormality, unreality, amusement, disgust. 2) The grotesque art represented terror, abnormality, unreality, amusement, disgust by disordered form, nonnatural things, evil world, unorthodox methods, unrealistic image, strange dreamland. 3) The grotesque dress represented terror, abnormality, unreality, amusement, disgust by exaggerated silhouette, exaggerated adornment, excessive decoration, incroyables, using exaggerated silhouette, crinoline silhouette, bustle silhouette, surrealist style, extraordinary materials, glam rock style, unique silhouette, cyber look. 3) Terror was implied in the punk look suits of Junya Watanabe, and exaggerated outers of Viktor & Rolf. Abnormality was shown in the atypical suit of John Galliano, Junya Watanabe's dress decorated with the extreme ruff, Thom Browne's suit of abnormal proportion. Unreality was reflected in the architectural dress of Gareth Pugh, Mermaid dress of Giles, the surreal suit of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Amusement was represented in the amusing suit of Gareth Pugh, John Galliano's dress of sexual perversion. Disgust was reflected in the decadent dress of Thierry Mugler, Undercove's suit, and the ensemble of shocking details.

  • As the geotechnical technologies have grown, the size of civil structures has become bigger than before, thereby requiring large-scale geotechnical testing equipments which can evaluate the mechanical behavior of large size testing materials such as gravel, crushed rock and so on. These kind of large testing equipments are usually used to evaluate the mechanical characteristics of large size material which are applied in the large infra structures like dam, seashore structure, coastal landfill, soil-structure interaction and seismic response of large-scale structure. In this research, state-of-the-art information in the field of geotechnical engineering was collected and summarized for such large-scale experimental equipments as large-scale geo-centrifuge, large-scale triaxial testing machine, large-scale direct shear testing apparatus and large-scale oedometer.

고구려 고분 벽화에 나타난 여자 복식 특징과 디자인 고증 연구 - 평양 지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Women's Dress Design Revealed in Goguryo Tomb Mural Paintings - By Focusing on Pyeongyang and Its Adjacent Area -)

  • Goguryo is the ancient dynasty which established the system of ancient state earlier than Baekje and Sila, and was a strong political and military power. Unlike the rock carving works of prehistoric times, mural paintings composed of line and color tones in tombs are characterized more by its social aspect and symbolism as a serious form of art than other cultural heritage of Goguryo. In response to that, this study analyzed the dress and ornaments of women found in Anak No. 3 ancient tomb, Susan-ri ancient tomb, Ssangyeongchong, which are the ancient tombs in Pyeongyang from 4th century to 5th century, have relatively more ancient tombs than any other places and preserved the mural paintings well, by using the plate, slide, literature and data related to relics in order to figure out the characteristics of women's dress and ornament in Goguryo, and the lifestyle and social aspect of Goguryo.

  • 플로우는 칙센트미하이가 처음 사용한 용어로 특정 활동이나 행동에 완전히 몰두할 때 느끼는 최적의 경험 상태를 말한다. 기존의 연구 결과에 의하면 플로우 현상은 암벽 등반, 예술 활동, 댄스, 모터사이클, 생산적 업무 등 많은 행동을 통해서 체험할 수 있으나 독서를 통해서 가장 많은 사람들이 공통적으로 플로우를 경험하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리나라 초.중등학생들의 독서 플로우에 대한 성향을 파악하고, 독서 플로우에 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 본 연구에 사용한 설문지는 독서자료, 독서목적, 독서방법 등 6개 영역의 36개 항목으로 구성하였고, 40개 초.중등학교로부터 1,836명의 학생이 참여하였다. 수집한 데이터는 SPSS18을 사용하여 카이자승, 교차분석, 요인분석을 실시하였다.

American Hippie와 그 복식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the American Hippies and Their Fashion)

  • This study, on the American hippies and their fashion, is composed of an examination of the following; the social and cultural circumstances of America in the late 1960's, the charac? teristics of the hippies that appeared in the midst of the foresaid background, how those factors materialized in the hippies' distinctive fashion and how they influenced tahion to come. The hippies were composed of the young generation that revolted against all general conventional values of American society and seceded from it, seeking for the ideas of love and freedom. They expressed their newly defined culture-rock music based on drug culture, psychedelic art, rejection of an established society and ethnic tastes that sprang up from nostalgia concerning nature-by means of their own distinctive fashion. And as a revival of the hippies' fashion, neo-hippie and grunge fashions newly appeared in the F /W season of 1992 and afterwards, adding fresher and more abundant sensibility to the original image and layered look of the hippies. The hippies' fashion has not only played a significant part in modem fashion history but will continue to exert its influence in the 1990's as the hippies generation are presently the center of American culture and leaders of world culture. In conclusion, various sorts of "individ- uality" and "the pleasure in the wearing itself" expressed by the original layering of the hippies' fashion presents new promise in the coming development at fashion.

영화(映畵) "벨벳 골드마인(Velvet Goldmine)"에 나타난 글램 스타일(Glam Style) (The Glam Style Expressed in the Movie "Velvet Goldmine")

  • The purpose of this study is to understand what the Glam Style is, focus on the movie "Velvet Goldmine". The Glam Style is refered early 1970s Glam rockers' costume, typified by silver lurex, corksoled platform, men in make-up, personified, for example, by David Bowie, Marc Bolan, New York Dolls, Roxy Music and Iggy Pop. To approach the Glam Style comprehensively, I have divided the formative background of Glam Style into the improvement technology, the advent of the young generation and the diffusion of mass media, the rock music fever and influence on Pop art. Following is the result of analyzing of the character in the movie. First, Brian Slade has the flamboyant transsexual image by skin-tight space suit, glitter pants, lurex, satin and sequined stretch fabrics, vivid color, gauze make-up, feather boa. Second, Curt Wild expresses the outrageous sexual image by black leather jacket, emphasized black eyes make-up. Third, Mandy Slade appears the exaggerated and frivolous image by gold leopard patterned one piece, fur coat, ornamented with beads, tropical make-up, spangles and the costume jewelry. Forth, Auther Stuart has the complex image by black leather jacket, velvet jacket, skin-tight bold shirt, glitter pants, glitter make-up, silk scarf, cherry-red sunglasses. The characteristics meaning of Glam Style implied in this formative characteristic could be presented as the experimental expression of androgynous, the hordes of outrageous alien and kitsch parody.

Decision support system for underground coal pillar stability using unsupervised and supervised machine learning approaches

  • Coal pillar assessment is of broad importance to underground engineering structure, as the pillar failure can lead to enormous disasters. Because of the highly non-linear correlation between the pillar failure and its influential attributes, conventional forecasting techniques cannot generate accurate outcomes. To approximate the complex behavior of coal pillar, this paper elucidates a new idea to forecast the underground coal pillar stability using combined unsupervised-supervised learning. In order to build a database of the study, a total of 90 patterns of pillar cases were collected from authentic engineering structures. A state-of-the art feature depletion method, t-distribution symmetric neighbor embedding (t-SNE) has been employed to reduce significance of actual data features. Consequently, an unsupervised machine learning technique K-mean clustering was followed to reassign the t-SNE dimensionality reduced data in order to compute the relative class of coal pillar cases. Following that, the reassign dataset was divided into two parts: 70 percent for training dataset and 30 percent for testing dataset, respectively. The accuracy of the predicted data was then examined using support vector classifier (SVC) model performance measures such as precision, recall, and f1-score. As a result, the proposed model can be employed for properly predicting the pillar failure class in a variety of underground rock engineering projects.

석재 서병오(1862-1936)의 1889년작 난죽석도 연구 (A Study on the 1889 'Nanjukseok' (Orchid, Bamboo and Rock) Paintings of Seo Byeong-o)

  • 서병오(徐丙五, 1862-1936)는 서구적 '미술' 개념의 도입으로 일본화 내지 서양화로 기울던 일제강점기 시서화일치의 대구 문인화단이 형성되는데 중추적인 역할을 하였다. 그는 1879년 이하응(李昰應, 1820-1898)과의 만남을 계기로 서화계에 입문하였으나, 문인화가로 본격적인 활동을 시작한 것은 1910년 경술국치 이후부터이다. 그의 예술세계는 세 시기로 구분되며, 학습기인 1879년부터 1897년까지는 관직 진출을 목표로 하였던 때문인지 중국 화보를 임모하거나 이하응의 영향 아래 사군자화를 여가에 그리는 정도였다. 발전기는 1898년부터 1920년까지로 그는 애국계몽운동 등 사회적 지도자로 활동하다 1910년 경술국치 이후 삶의 방향을 문인화가로 전환하였다. 그리고 두 번째 중국 여행에서 다시 만난 민영익(閔泳翊, 1860-1914)의 운미란과 포화(蒲華, 1830-1911)의 묵죽법을 근간으로 새로운 화풍을 적극 모색함과 동시에 산수, 화훼, 기명절지 등의 화목도 다루었다. 완숙기인 1921년부터 1936년까지는 대구와 한양을 오가며 근대 한국 화단의 서화가로 왕성하게 활동하였으며, 묵란과 묵죽에서 윤묵의 호방한 필법을 특징으로 하는 개성적 화풍을 완성하였다. 특히 학습기의 경우 관련 기록이나 현전작품이 드물어 서병오의 창작활동이나 화풍 등에 관한 것은 추론의 수준을 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 이와 관련해 본고에서 집중적으로 분석한 서병오의 1889년작 난석죽도 11점은 학습기의 화풍 연원이나 수준을 가늠할 수 있는 중요한 단서라는 점에서 주목된다. 1889년작 난죽석도 가운데 묵란도는, 이하응이 1882년 7월 청군에 의해 체포되기 이전에 그린 초기 군란도와 석란도에서 영향 받았다는 사실을 확인하였다. 묵죽도는 한양에 널리 알려진 양주화파 정섭(鄭燮, 1693-1765)과 김정희의 제자 허련(許鍊, 1809-1892)의 화법을 수용했을 뿐만 아니라 이하응의 석란도 형식을 응용하여 변화를 시도했던 것으로 보인다. 괴석도의 경우 직접적인 관련성은 찾지 못하였으나, 19세기 후반 청나라의 괴석화가 주당(周棠, 1806-1876)과 여항화가 정학교(丁學敎, 1832-1914) 등에게 영향을 받았던 것으로 판단된다. 결론적으로 서병오의 1889년작 난죽석도는 학습기에 그려진 것으로 운현궁을 찾았던 허련과 정학교 같은 동시기 화가들이나, 한양에 작품이 유입되었던 정섭과 주당 등의 중국 작품을 실견하며 이들의 화풍을 수용하였다는 사실을 알려준다.

동대문운동장유적 출토 조선시대 기와의 특성 연구 (A Scientific Study of Roof Tiles in Joseon Dynasty from Dongdaemoon Stadium)

  • 본 연구는 동대문운동장에서 출토된 조선시대 기와의 선후관계, 유물제작기법 및 기술적 속성을 파악하기 위하여 기와의 물리적 화학적 특성 연구를 실시하였다. 기와의 물리적 특성 연구를 위해 흡수율, 비중, 전암대자율, 시차열분석을 실시하였으며, 화학적 특성 연구를 위해 중성자 방사화분석(NAA), 미세조직관찰, X-선 회절분석(XRD) 등을 실시하였다. 기와편 22점의 중성자방사화분석 및 통계분석결과 각각 기와시료는 다른 시대에 서로 다른 제작지에서 생산된 것으로 뚜렷하게 구분되었다. 또한 희토류원소의 출토지별 평균값을 비교해 보아도 각각 서로 다른 조성의 차이를 보이는데 이는 산지가 다른 점토광물을 이용하여 제작하였다는 것을 의미한다. XRD 및 편광현미경 관찰결과 기와의 주요 성분은 석영과 장석이었으며 부분적으로 운모와 일라이트(Illite)가 나타났다. XRD 분석결과 $1000^{\circ}C$의 부근에서 소성되었을 때 나타나는 뮬라이트(mullite)광물 조성이 나타났으며, 시차열분석에서는 $900^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 완만한 발열피크가 나타났다. 이를 토대로 기와의 소성온도를 추정한 결과, 기와는 $900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$에서 소성이 이루어진 것으로 보인다. 전암대자율 평균값으로 비교분석하였을 때 출토지별 분류는 나타나지 않았지만 문양이 파상문, 태상문, 어골문, 격자문, 횡선문인 경우 0.2~0.78(${\times}103$ SI unit)의 낮은 전암 대자율이 나타나는 특징이 있다. 전체 흡수율은 대체적으로 14%~21% 범위를 보였으며 이는 조선시대 전통기와에서 나타나는 흡수율 14~18%와 유사한 범위를 보이고 있다. 기와시료의 비중은 대체적으로 1.4~2.5g/cm3의 범위를 보여 출토지에 따른 비중 차이가 나타나지 않았다.
