  • This paper presents a robust tracker design method that is specific to the trajectories of target aircraft. This method assumes that representative trajectories of the target aircraft are available. The exact trajectories known to the tracker enables the incorporation of the exact data in the tracker design instead of the measurement data. An estimator is designed to have acceptable performance in tracking a finite number of different target trajectories with a capability to trade off the mean and maximum errors between the exact trajectories and the estimated or predicted trajectories. Constant estimator gains that minimize the cost functions related to the estimation or prediction error are computed off-line from an iterative algorithm. This tracker design method is applied to the longitudinal motion tracking of target aircraft.

  • In general, systems contain uncertain elements in the real world; these may be parameters, constant or varying, that are unknown or imperfectly known. When the uncertainty is assumed to satisfy the matching condition and to be cone-bounded, Y.H. Chen[81 proposed an adaptive robust control algorithm which introduced adaptive scheme for a design parameter into robust deterministic controls. In this paper, the above control algorithm is applied to the position tracking control of 2 DOF direct drive SCARA robots, and simulation and experimental studies are conducted to verify the control algorithm and to evaluate control performance.

  • In this paper, a robust controller is proposed to control a robot manipulator which is governed by highly nonlinear dynamic equations. The controller is computationally efficient since it does not require the dynamic model or parameter values of a robot manipulator. It, however, requires uncertainty bounds which are derived by using properties of revolute joint robot dynamics. The stability of the robot with the controller is proved by Lyapunov theory. The results of computer simulations show that the robot system is stable, and has excellent trajectory tracking performance.

  • A spatial augmented reality (SAR) system enables a virtual image to be projected onto the surface of a real-world object and the user to intuitively control the image using a tangible interface. However, occlusions frequently occur, such as a sudden change in the lighting environment or the generation of obstacles. We propose a robust object tracker based on a multithreaded system, which can track an object robustly through occlusions. Our multithreaded tracker is divided into two threads: the detection thread detects distinctive features in a frame-to-frame manner, and the tracking thread tracks features periodically using an optical-flow-based tracking method. Consequently, although the speed of the detection thread is considerably slow, we achieve real-time performance owing to the multithreaded configuration. Moreover, the proposed outlier filtering automatically updates a random sample consensus distance threshold for eliminating outliers according to environmental changes. Experimental results show that our approach tracks an object robustly in real-time in an SAR environment where there are frequent occlusions occurring from augmented projection images.

  • Detecting human in images is a challenging task owing to their variable appearance and the wide range of poses the they can adopt. The first need is a robust feature set that allows the human form to be discriminated cleanly, even in cluttered background under difficult illumination. A large number of vision application rely on matching keypoints across images. These days, the deployment of vision algorithms on smart phones and embedded device with low memory and computation complexity has even upped the ante: the goal is to make descriptors faster compute, more compact while remaining robust scale, rotation and noise. In this paper we focus on improving the speed of pedestrian(walking person) detection using Histogram of Oriented Gradient(HOG) descriptors provide excellent performance and tracking using kalman filter.

  • This paper presents an adaptive fuzzy backstepping (AFB) controller for a single-link flexible joint robot in the Presence of Parametric uncertainties and external disturbances. Adaptive fuzzy logic systems are used as universal approximators to counteract the model uncertainties coming from robot dynamics and to compensate for the nonlinearities coming from adaptive backstepping method. The approach suggested herein does not require neither an additional supervisory nor a robustifying controller and guarantees that tracking error is uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) within a sufficiently small residual set. Finally, a simulation result is given to demonstrate the robust tracking performance of proposed design method.

  • In this paper, a robust controller is proposed to achieve the accurate tracking for uncertain robot manipulators with hydraulic actuator dynamics. The parameter uncertainty can be quantified by the linear parameterization technique. A switching controller is proposed to guarantee the global asymptotic stability of the plant. In order to eliminate the chattering caused by the switching controller, a smoothing controller is proposed using the boundary layer technique around the sliding surface. It is shown that the smoothing controller guarantees the uniform ultimate boundedness of the tracking, error. The proposed controller shows good better tracking performance.

  • Unlike normal wheels, the Mecanum wheel enables omni-directional movement regardless of the orientation of a mobile robot. In this paper, a robust trajectory tracking control method is developed based on the dynamic model of the Mecanum wheel mobile robot in order that the mobile robot can move along the given path in the environment with disturbance. The method is designed using the impedance control to make the mobile robot to track the path, and the integral sliding mode control for robustness to disturbance. The good performance of the proposed method is verified using the MATLAB /Simulink simulation and also through the experiment on an actual Mecanum wheel mobile robot. In both the simulation and the experimentation, we make the mobile robot move along a reference trajectory while maintaining the robot's orientation at a constant angle to see the characteristics of the Mecanum wheel.

  • In this paper, we propose a controller for differentially steered wheeled mobile robots. The controller uses input-output linearization algorithm and artificial neural network to stabilize the dynamic model and compensate uncertainties. The proposed neural network part has 6 inputs, 1 hidden layer, 2 torque outputs and features fast online learning and good performance on structure error learning basis. Simulation results show that the proposed controller perform precisely tracking of reference path and is robust to uncertainties.
