In this paper, we propose a robot control data generation system applying context aware mechanism in order to control the robot manipulator which automatically sorts parcels. The context aware mechanism generates intelligent information to control a robot using context data such as the parcel shape, weight, location and barcodes. The proposed system collects context data of the parcel and generates robot control data to pick up and drop parcels. Then a robot manipulator, which receives control data of picking-up and dropping, processes the automated sorting of parcels according to delivery persons and delivery routes. It will contribute not only to save much time and cost but also to reduce the industrial accidents.

Controlling a mobile robot using conventional control devices requires skill and experience, and is not intuitive, especially in complex environments. For human-mobile robot cooperation, the direct-teaching method with impedance control has been used most frequently in complex environments. This thesis proposes a new direct-teaching method for a mobile robot utilizing variable impedance control. This includes analysis of user intention, which is changed by force and moment. A fuzzy inference technique is proposed in this thesis for identification of user intension. The direct teaching of a mobile robot based on variable impedance control through fuzzy inference is experimentally verified by comparing its efficiency to that of the conventional impedance control-based direct teaching of a mobile robot. Experimental data, such as the total time consumed, path error time, and the total energy used by the user, were recorded. The results showed that the efficiency of variable impedance control was increased.
In this paper, we propose a cooperative multi-robot control algorithm. Specifically, the cooperative task is that two mobile robots should transfer a long rigid object along a predefined path. To resolve the problem, we introduce the master-slave concept for two mobile robots, which have the same structure. According to the velocity of the master robot and the positions of two robots on the path, the velocity of the slave robot is determined. In case that the robots can't move further, the role of the robot is interchanged. The effectiveness of this decentralized algorithm is proved by computer simulations.

A robot automation system for coating uniformly a big radiator used in PPS(Packaged Power Station), which consists of 6-axis robot with spray gun, travelling vehicle, supply device of coating paint and thinner with pressured air, HMI controller and robot path OLP(Off-Line Programming), was developed. Experimental results on an optimum operation condition show that a coating thickness is $43{\mu}m$, which is satisfied to a design reference of $25-100{\mu}m$. A productivity of the developed coating robot automation system based on OLP is about 12.6 times of that of manual operation.

In order that a mobile robot can perform tasks in unknown environment localization of a mobile robot is essential task. In this paper, a new localization method for a mobile robot using an active landmark is proposed, which is very simple to implement. The landmark has a LED which can be controlled by a mobile robot via wireless communication. CCD camera gets two images of the landmark, one of which is with LED off and the other is with LED on. Because the landmark can be detected by using the difference image of the two images, detection time can be minimized. By using the characteristic points of the landmark, localization can be performed simply. A series of experiments are performed to evaluate the proposed method and the experimental results show that the proposed method can be applicable to the localization of a mobile robot.
Typically everyday human life tasks involve at least two people moving objects such as tables and beds, and the balancing of such object changes based on one person's action. However, many studies in previous work performed their tasks solely on robots without factoring human cooperation. Therefore, in this paper, we propose cooperative robot for table balancing using Q-learning that enables cooperative work between human and robot. The human's action is recognized in order to balance the table by the proposed robot whose camera takes the image of the table's state, and it performs the table-balancing action according to the recognized human action without high performance equipment. The classification of human action uses a deep learning technology, specifically AlexNet, and has an accuracy of 96.9% over 10-fold cross-validation. The experiment of Q-learning was carried out over 2,000 episodes with 200 trials. The overall results of the proposed Q-learning show that the Q function stably converged at this number of episodes. This stable convergence determined Q-learning policies for the robot actions. Video of the robotic cooperation with human over the table balancing task using the proposed Q-Learning can be found at http://ibot.knu.ac.kr/videocooperation.html.

Researches on air-ground robot cooperating system has been made recently. The cooperation among homogeneous robots focused on the architecture of the system, quality and influence of the communication. In contrast, the cooperation among heterogeneous robots such as aerial vehicle and ground vehicle robots has not been much handled. There are a couple of main points for those air-ground cooperating robots. One is using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) as an extra sensor of UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle). This kind of application is usually used in situations such as guiding UGV to an appropriate path which could be better determined from the eye in the sky as UAV. The other main application of air-ground cooperating robot system is the localization. By combining sensor information from both UAV and UGV, the robot system as a whole can localize a target object or find features in the environment with better performance than UGV or UAV alone. Although these applications are recently studied in many different ways and devices, there are still a lot of possibilities in the field of air-ground cooperating robot systems. We introduce those research fields in this paper.

This paper proposes the creation scheme of a threat map for robot global path planning. The threat map was generated using neural network theory by analyzing the robot's armament state and the menace information of an enemy or obstacle. In addition, the performance of the suggested method was verified using the compared result of the damage amount and existing robot path data.

We propose a human-robot interaction(HRI) platform based on motion capture and mapping. Platform consists of capture, processing/mapping, and action parts. A motion capture sensor, computer, and avatar and/or physical robots are selected as capture, processing/mapping, and action part(s), respectively. Case studies-an interactive presentation and LEGO robot car are presented to show the design and implementation process of Kinect based HRI platform.
