A Study on Analysis of Issues in Developing a Basic Road Transport Database and Proposals for Enhancing Its Reliability and Data Sharing (with Focus on Databases Related to Road Transport Demand Estimation) (도로부문 교통기초자료 구축사업의 문제점 분석 및 개선방안 연구 (교통수요 예측 자료를 중심으로))

  • In Korea, previously implemented road construction project caused a big budget waste due to overestimation of transport demand. There could be reasons for such inaccuracy of transport demand estimation, but the main reasons are: (1) low reliability of used basic road transport data and (2) inadequate sharing of data among agencies/departments. The National Transport Database and the Household Travel Database in Seoul Metropolitan Area, two representing basic road transport database, will be used to the establishment of a road construction plan that will be promoted afterwards. However, these materials have problems such as low reliability and inadequateness, too. Hence, focusing on transport demand estimation related databases, this paper will make proposals for enhancing their reliability and data sharing.

  • Road fine dust is not simply a problem of air pollution, but is threatening the health and life of the public, including pedestrians using sidewalks. There are various policy proposals related to road fine dust reduction, but the actual effect cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, in order to ensure the safe and pleasant passage of the people, the pavement pavement (sidewalk pavement) for fine dust management on the road should be designed by considering the location, use, function, etc., and appropriate paving materials and construction methods should be selected and designed or sidewalk facilities should be prepared. Therefore, this study examines the concept and legal basis of sidewalk pavement, reviews the status of sidewalk pavement-related technologies that purify air pollution, and utilizes sidewalk pavement materials under the revised sidewalk pavement guidelines for reducing fine dust, 「Act on Promotion of Purchasing of Green Products」 We intend to establish a legal basis for early application of sidewalk pavement technology by proposing measures and amendments to local government sidewalk pavement management rules.

  • Korea is considered to be a seasonal frozen soil area that thaws in the spring, and freezes in winter. In the current design codes for anti-freezing layer, the thickness of anti-freezing layer is calculated by the depth frozen due to the temperature condition. Therefore, there is a tendency of over-design and applying uniform thickness without the consideration of thermal stability, bearing capacity and frost susceptibility of materials. So, it is essential to study the structural appropriateness of pavement layer and bearing capacity besides the seasonal and mechanical properties of pavement materials to take an appropriate and reasonable design of the road structure. In this paper, the evaluation of frost susceptibility on subgrade, ant-freezing layer, subbase was conducted by means of the mechanical characteristics and model experiment. The temperature, heaving amount, unfrozen water contents and freezing depth of soil samples, the subgrade, anti-freezing layer, subbase soils of road construction site were measured to determine the frost susceptibility.

  • In road Pavements, it is known that cement concrete pavement has superior durability, safety compared with asphalt pavement. But in repairing pavement, cement concrete pavement is not usually applied because of the length of time while the road is interrupted when using Ordinary and Rapid-hardening Portland Cement. And Super High Early Strength Cement and Ultra Super High Early Strength Cement are not favorable for ready mixed concrete because of rapid setting time, high slump loss and other restrictions. We aim to develope special cement and concrete developing 1 day strength of over 300 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to open the road within one day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour that can be used as ready mixed concrete. In this study, we produced cement using rapid-hardening cement, Hauyne clinker, anhydride gypsum and accelerator and studied on its properties. The comperssive strength was over 400 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and tensile at 1 day and workable time was maintained for over 1 hour.
