Insights for Improving Road Safety : Focusing on Vehicle Accidents in Daegu Metropolitan City

  • Road accidents not only caused loss of human lives but also costed 3% of gross domestic product in most of the countries. The road accidents pose significant challenges to public safety and urban transportation management. There is a need to identify the high-risk area of accidents along with the critical day of week and vulnerable time period in order to implement effective preventive measures and optimizing the resource allocation. We collected 5,012 accident data from 대구교통종합정보. This study identified the high-risk locations, days of week, and time periods for accidents in Daegu and estimated the conditional probabilities of accidents occurring based on combinations of location, day of the week, and time period. The result is visualized in the form of dashboard in Tableau. This study holds substantial practical significance for urban planners, transportation authorities, and policymakers in Daegu to strategically allocate resources for traffic management, law enforcement, and targeted safety campaigns.

효율적인 도로시설물 관리를 위한 좌표기반 영상의 활용 (Utilization of Coordinate-Based Image for Efficient Management of Road Facilities)

  • 도로표지판, 신호등, 가로등과 같은 도로시설물에 대한 정보를 갱신하는 것은 여러 지자체에서 관심있는 업무이다. 현재 도로시설물의 신설 및 보완을 위한 현장상황 판단시 기존의 도로시설물 DB, 항공사진, 지형도를 참조하고 있지만 도로시설물 상태의 정확한 파악이 어려우며, 현장조사에 추가적인 비용이 발생하기도 한다. 이에 따라 도로시설물 DB의 구축과 갱신의 필요성이 증가하였으며 도로시설물 정보취득에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 복잡하고 다양한 시설물이 혼재되어 있는 도로시설물에 대해 DGPS와 블루투스가 내장된 디지털카메라로 취득된 좌표기반 영상을 통한 DB 구축을 수행하였다. 연구 결과 효과적으로 도로시설물 DB를 구축할 수 있었으며, 토털스테이션 측량 성과를 이용한 정확도 분석을 통해 좌표기반 영상을 이용한 도로시설물 관리의 가능성을 제시하였다. 향후 이러한 방법을 통해 도로시설물 DB의 수시갱신과 관리가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

유비쿼터스 도로재해관리시스템을 위한 기반기술 개발 (Development of the Fundamental Technology for Ubiquitous Road Disaster Management System)

  • 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 기반 도로재해관리시스템 개발에 본 연구에의 목적이 있으며, 이를 위한 기반기술은 무선인터넷통신모듈, 모바일모듈 및 서버모듈로 구분하여 개발하였다. 이와 같이 개발된 기반기술은 도로재해관리 뿐만 아니라 각종 모바일 및 유비쿼터스 응용솔루션개발에 사용될 수 있으며, 도로재해현장에서 정보취득에 필요한 기 구축된 수치형태의 각종 DB를 실시간으로 수신하고 이를 기초로 현장 자료를 취득할 수 있으므로 현장 자료 취득의 정확도 및 신뢰도를 제고할 수 있다. 또한 이를 수신한 웹기반의 서버모듈 즉, 웹기반 도로 재해관리시스템에서는 기존의 도로관련 각종 자료에 절대좌표를 이용하여 현장재해정보를 연계하여 볼 수 있어, 정확한 의사결정을 실시간으로 수립하여 현장에 전송할 수 있다. 이러한 유비쿼터스 도로재해관리시스템의 기반기술 개발을 통하여 기존 도로재해관리 방법의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.

  • MOCT(Ministry of Construction St Transportation) suggested "A Plan for Implementation of Knowledge-based Economy for the Construction Industry" to add high value to a construction industry. by means of knowledge-based management. However, there is no knowledge management system which considers characteristics of a domestic construction industry. So a useful knowledge vanished the moment a company terminated a construction Uoject. Therefore, it is necessary to develop "An application method of a knowledge management system for the construction industry" which takes a real environment into consideration. This study aims to present the road map of a knowledge management system which helps the bodies of the construction industry(government, research center/university, enterprise, etc) to do a knowledge activity efficiently. To accomplish this objective, we analyzed overall knowledge management activities. In addition we suggested an implementation direction and strategy of a knowledge management system for the construction industry. As results of this study, we presented the road map of a knowledge management system for the construction industry, which is composed of policy forum, study forum, professional forum, research forum and knowledge 8t information DB. We expect that results of this study will be used as a basis for implementing the knowledge portal that brings a construction industry to a high value added industry.

도로시설물 관리를 위한 Photo Database 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the design of Database for photograph of Road Facilities)

  • 본 논문에서는 도로 및 도로시설물의 신설과 보완에 관련된 정보의 효과적인 관리를 위해 CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) 카메라, GPS(Global Positioning Systems), INS(Inertial Navigation Systems)와 같은 3개의 위치관측센서를 통합한 차량을 이용하여 시범지역을 측량하고 이를 통해 획득된 자료를 구조적으로 Photo Database에 저장할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 저장된 Database를 이용한 도로시설물관리시스템의 프로토타입(Prototype)은 해당지점에 대한 실제사진을 이용해서 사용자의 대상물에 대한 인식성을 높이고 속성정보와의 연계를 통해서 해당 시설물에 대한 정성적인 정보추출과 관리가 가능함을 보여주었다.

  • Forest management starts from forest road facility, which is designated as generation source of muddy water in mountain stream during initial stage of establishment. Therefore, this study reviewed the effect of suspended sediment generated in forest road surface on the muddy water in mountain stream with respect to marsh area of forest. As a result, characteristics of outflow of suspended sediment was understood, and it was judged that generation of suspended sediment due to establishment of forest road is diluted by mountain stream this charged from drainage area so as to have small effect on muddy water in total mountain stream.

Comparisons of Traffic Collisions between Expressways and Rural Roads in Truck Drivers

  • Background: Truck driving is known as one of the occupations with the highest accident rate. This study investigates the characteristics of traffic collisions according to road types (expressway and rural road). Methods: Classifying 267 accidents into expressway and rural road, we analyzed them based on driver characteristics (age, working experience, size of employment), time characteristics (day of accident, time, weather), and accident characteristics (accident causes, accident locations, accident types, driving conditions). Results: When we compared the accidents by road conditions, no differences were found between the driver characteristics. However, from the accident characteristics, the injured person distributions were different by the road conditions. In particular, driving while drowsy is shown to be highly related with the accident characteristics. Conclusion: This study can be used as a guideline and a base line to develop a plan of action to prevent traffic accidents. It can also help to prepare formal regulations about a truck driver's vehicle maintenance and driving attitude for a precaution on road accidents.

  • As the importance of customers has been emphasized, most companies began to operate various CRM strategies to understand and manage customers' needs. The investments that businesses are making are categorized into four areas. The first area of investments is in contact centers and channels to manage the voice of customers. The second area is in loyalty management, target marketing using segmentation, profiling, profitability analysis and targeting. The third one is involved in the measurement of customer satisfaction. The last one is planning to deliver products and services to appropriate customers. Despite the various efforts, it is lowering the efficiency of these investments and interrupting their value creation that these are being operated independently in different departments. All CRM activities of an enterprise should be processed interactively and consistently for a common goal; value creation, to overcome these shortcomings. In this research, we propose CS Road Map that systematizes the four kinds of CRM activities; VOC management, survey activities, loyalty management and planning. Under this road map, these four activities will achieve the improvement of service qualities, customer satisfaction and further value creation. This paper demonstrates the road map that is built for a service industry emphasizing the objectives and strategies of the four categories.

On Finding a Convenient Path in the Hierarchical Road Network

  • In a hierarchical road network, all roads can be classified according to their attributes such as speed limit, number of lanes, etc. By splitting the whole road network into the subnetworks of the highlevel and low-level roads, we can reduce the size of the network to be calculated at once, and find a path in the way that drivers usually adopt when searching out a travel route. To exploit the hierarchical property of road networks, we define a convenient path and propose an algorithm for finding convenient paths. We introduce a parameter indicating the driver's tolerance to the difference between the length of a convenient path and that of a shortest convenient path. From this parameter, we can determine how far we have to search for the entering and exiting gateway. We also propose some techniques for reducing the number of pairs of entries and exits to be searched in a road network. A result of the computational experiment on a real road network is given to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

도로교통안전점검차량을 이용한 도로의 자동도면화 생성 연구 (The Study on an Automated Generation Method of Road Drawings using Road Survey Vehicle)

  • PURPOSES : This study is to develop a automate road mapping system using ARASEO(Automated Road Analysis and Safety Evaluation TOol) for road management. METHODS : The road survey van named ARASEO(Automated Road Analysis and Safety Evaluation TOol) was used to generate highway drawings for Korea National Road number 37 automatically. In order to generate the highway drawings for purpose of road management, it is required to acquired the information for highway alignment, road width and road facilities such as safety barrier and road sign. Therefore the survey van acquired and analyzed the road width, median and guardrail data using rear side laser sensor of ARASEO and recognized the traffic control sign and chevron sign using foreside camera images. Also the highway alignment which is the basic information for highway drawing can be analyzed by acquisition the every 1m positional and attitude data using GPU and IMU sensor and developed algorithm. Finally, in this research the CAD based drawing software was developed to draw highway drawing using the analysis result from ARASEO. RESULTS : This study showed the comparison result of the surveyed road width and drawing data. To make the drawing of the road, we made the Autocad ARX program witch run in CAD menu interface. CONCLUSIONS : Using this program we can create the road center line, every 500m horizontal and vertical ground plan drawing automatically.
