An integrated dynamic control (IDCF) with an active front steering system and an active rear braking system is proposed and developed in this study. A fuzzy logic controller is applied to calculate the desired additional steering angle and desired slip of the rear inner wheel. To validate IDCF system, an eight degree of freedom, nonlinear vehicle model and a sliding mode wheel slip controller are also designed. Various road conditions are used to test the performance. The results show that the yaw rate of IDCF vehicle followed the reference yaw rate and reduced the body slip angle, compared with uncontrolled vehicle. Thus, the IDCF vehicle had enhanced lateral stability and controllability.
In this research, an analysis of damaged instance and forming fault for disc part in automotive steel wheel was performed. Rolled steel material, which had been used in the manufacturing of the damaged disc part, was prepared for tensile test, quantitative analysis of chemical component and acquirement of scanning electron microscope images. Although the results of mechanical properties and chemical component ratio for the material satisfied the suggested specification, some material inherent problem was found in the scanning electron microscope images. Finally, in an analysis of chemical component for the damaged disc part used in road condition, mismatching of chemical component ratio between the suggested specification and test result was found.

This paper deal with a fault detection algorithm for front wheel passenger car systems by using robust $H{\infty}$ control theory. Firstly, we present a unified formulation of vehicle dynamics for front wheel car systems and transform this formulation into state space form. Also, by considering the cornering stiffness which depends on the tyre-road contact conditions, a multiplicative uncertainty for vehicle model is described. Next, the failures of sensor and actuator for vehicle system are defined in which the fault .lter is considered. From the nominal vehicle model, an augmented system includes the multiplicative uncertainty and the model of fault filter is proposed. Lastly by using $H{\infty}$ norm property the fault detect conditions are deefi.ned, and the actuator and sensor failures are detected and isolated by designing the robust $H{\infty}$ controller, respectively.
The objective of this research is to monitor and control the vehicle motion in order to remove out the existing safety risk based upon the human-machine cooperative vehicle control. A predictive control method is proposed to control the steering wheel of the vehicle to keep the lane. Desired angle of the steering wheel to control the vehicle motion could be calculated based upon vehicle dynamics, current and estimated pose of the vehicle every sample steps. The vehicle pose and the road curvature were calculated by geometrically fusing sensor data from camera image, tachometer and steering wheel encoder though the Perception Net, where not only the state variables, but also the corresponding uncertainties were propagated in forward and backward direction in such a way to satisfy the given constraint condition, maintain consistency, reduce the uncertainties, and guarantee robustness. A series of experiments was conducted to evaluate the control performance, in which a car Like robot was utilized to quit unwanted safety problem. As the results, the robot was keeping very well a given lane with arbitrary shape at moderate speed.
This study proposes two ESP systems which are designed to enhance the lateral stability of a vehicle. A BESP uses an inner rear wheel braking pressure controller, while a EBESP employs an inner rear wheel and front outer wheel braking pressure controller. The performances of the BESP and EBESP are evaluated for various road conditions and steering inputs. They reduce the slip angle and eliminate variation in the lateral acceleration, which increase the controllability and stability of the vehicle. However EBESP enhances the lateral stability and comfort. A driver model is also developed to control the steer angle input. It shows good performances because the vehicle tracks the desired lane very well.
This paper proposes a robust control design method for improving the cornering stability of a personal electric vehicle equipped with in-wheel motors. In general, vehicles undergo severe parameter variations and unpredictable disturbances with respect to a wide range of driving conditions (e.g., road surface conditions and vehicle velocity conditions). For this reason, robust control design techniques are required to guarantee consistent driving performances and robustness against various driving conditions. In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode control method is employed to enhance cornering stability by controlling the direct-drive in-wheel motors independently. Additionally, in order to confirm the effectiveness of a proposed control method, real driving tests with an experimental personal electric vehicle are performed.
Tire vibration modes are known to play a key role in vehicle ride and comfort characteristics. Inputs to the tire such as impacts, rough road surface, tire nonuniformities, and tread patterns can potentially excite tire vibration. In this study, experimental modal analysis on the tire with ground contact are performed by impacting the tire in the radial direction at the center of contact patch. To investigate which modes of tire influence the vibration of wheel and axle when the tire is in contact with ground, the vibration characteristics such as frequency response functions, natural frequencies and their mode shapes from tire to wheel/axle are examined.
Lanekeeping assistance has the potential to save thousands of lives every year by preventing accidental road departure. This paper presents experimental validation of a potential field lanekeeping assistance system with quantitative performance guarantees. The lanekeeping system is implemented on a 1997 Corvette modified for steer-by-wire capability. With no mechanical connection between the hand wheel and road wheels the lanekeeping system can add steering inputs independently from the driver. Implementation of the lanekeeping system uses a novel combination of a multi-antenna Global Positioning System (GPS) and precision road maps. Preliminary experimental data shows that this control scheme performs extremely well for driver assistance and closely matches simulation results, verifying previous theoretical guarantees for safety. These results also motivate future work which will focus on interaction with the driver.
The objective of this study is to propose a lane changing and keeping method on a curved road for an automatic guidance of a vehicle. It is well known that the speed control of a vehicle in a curved road is essential in terms of vehicle stability and passenger safety because centrifugal force makes a vehicle to be on out of lane. And it is also natural to avoid the collision with other cars or obstructions with keeping the stability and drivability. The vehicle pose and the road curvature were calculated by geometrically fusing sensor data from camera image, tachometer and steering wheel encoder though the Perception Net in which not only the state variables, but also the corresponding uncer...
