  • In this thesis, an object tracking method based on the active feature model and the optical flow in stereo images is proposed. We acquired the translation information of object of interest and the features of object by utilizing the geometric information and depth of stereo images. Tracking performance is improved for the occlude object with this information by predicting the movement information of features of the occlude object. Rigid and non-rigid objects are experimented. From the result of experiment, the OOI can be real-time tracked from complicate back ground. Besides, we got the improved result of object tracking in any occlusion state, no matter what it is rigid or non-rigid object.

  • The present work investigates the use of a rigid rocking block as a tool to reduce vibrations in a frame structure. The study is based on a simplified model composed by a 2-DOF linear system, meant to represent a general M-DOF frame structure, coupled with a rocking rigid block through a linear visco-elastic device, which connects only the lower part of the 2-DOF system. The possibility to restrain the block directly to the ground, by means of a second visco-elastic device, is investigated as well. The dynamic response of the model under an harmonic base excitation is then analysed in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the coupling in reducing the displacements and the drift of the 2-DOF system. The nonlinear equations of motion of the coupled assemblage 2-DOF-block are obtained by a Lagrangian approach and then numerically integrated considering some reference mechanical and geometrical quantities as variable parameters. It follows an extensive parametric analysis, whose results are summarized through behaviour maps, which portray the ratio between the maximum displacements and drifts of the system, with and without the coupling with the rigid block, for several combinations of system's parameters. When the ratio of the displacements is less than unity, the coupling is considered effective. Results show that the presence of the rocking rigid block improves the dynamics of the system in large ranges of the characterizing parameters.

  • The paper describes the parametric instability of free-free beams subjected to a controlled pulsating follower force. The beam has a tip rigid body not a mass point, and the direction of pulsating follower force is controlled by the direction control sensor. Equations of motion are derived by Hamilton's principle and the instability regions are obtained by finite element formulation. The effects of magnitude, rotary inertia, the distance between free end of the beam and the center of gravity of the rigid body on the instability types and regions are investigated by the change of the constant and periodic part of the follower force.

  • This paper is the experimental and analytic of reinforced concrete hemisphere dome under vertical load. It is described that when the reinforced concrete hemispherical dome supported on cylindrical wall is loaded vertically, how the opening part of dome will behave mechanically The experimental and analytic model is a Hemispherical dome with opening and the meridian angle of opening is 76$^{\circ}$at the center of sphere under concentrated load around the opening, but this is reinforced by a ring is sufficient stiffness. The diagrams of crack development are represented to understand the behavior of the reinforced concrete hemispherical dome. The method of crack analysis will be applied the rigid element spring model. The rigid element spring model is a new discrete element analysis, each divided element is assumed by rigid elements without deformation which is interconnected with elasto-plastic spring system.

  • The finite element modeling of small female occupant for crash simulation is presented in this paper subsequently to the part I of articulated rigid body model. The limbs and internal components are additionally modeled by joining them to the articulated rigid body model for predicting the crash injuries such as bone fractures and joint dislocations. The behavioral characteristics of each limbs and internal components were validated against available cadaveric test results. Accordingly, the human model proposed in this paper could be utilized for the investigation of impact injury mechanism and further complement the lacking biofidelity of current crash dummy.

  • To prove the effct of semi-rigid fixation which utilize wire and rigid fixation which utilizes miniplate toward cranio-facial growth and development of growing children for teenagers, 28 rabbits-6 weeks, about 1.5kg-were experimented. They were classified three groups the semi-rigid group was 12 rabbits which were fixed with 26 gauge stainless steel wire to cross a fronto-nasal suture, the rigid group was the other 12 rabbits which were fixed with miniplate and screw, the control group was 4 rabbits which were get rid of only periosteum. The sample of fronto-nasal of rabbits which were sacrified after 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks of the operation were investigated and made a comparative study with the light microscops. 1. At the control group, the central part of bony suture was connected with colagen bundle, the osteoblastic layer was investigated at the bony ending, new bone which covered the inside and outside faces of the bone suture was formed between periosteum. 2. Two weeks later from the experiment, ran slightly irregularly the collagen bundle which connects both bony endings of the rigid group. 3. Four weeks later from the experiment, collagen bundle of bone surface were arranged parally a little and comparing to the semi-rigid group, newly formed woven bone of surface of the adjacent bone was made obviously a little. 4. Eight weeks later from the experiment, collagen bundle which is located between both bony ending become close. Both the semi-rigid group and the rigid group showed significant formation of new bone at the periosteum and the bone surface. 12 weeks later from the experiment, both the semi-rigid group and the rigid group showed the regular running in the collagen bundle and smooth, dense periosteum. Then they assumed a similar aspect of the control group. I think that it does not give the influence to the cranio-facial growth of children or teenager to utilize a rigid fixation for a short period. Because as the time goes on, the surface of the bone suture was recovered and adjacent bone surface of the miniplate fixation showed compensatory growth, although both the semi-rigid group which utilized wire and rigid group which utilized a miniplate brought about the change of the area of the bone suture at the early period.

  • In the field of assembly processes, non-rigid parts such as wires, tubes, gaskets and 0-rings cannot be assembled automatically. And although many researches have been made for rigid part mating, there are not substantial studies in flexible parts assembly field. In this paper, assembly stages of flexible parts are classified and some analysis are made. FEM was used to estimate the relationship between deformation and reactive forces. An assembly algorithm adopting reciprocal twisting motion was proposed and the assembly tool design methodology was discussed.

  • Compared with rigid-jointed latticed dome, in pinned-joint latticed dome, results of Ref.1 showed reduction of buckling strength by decline of junction's rotational rigidity. Moreover, with decline of junction's rotational rigidity, geometrical initial imperfection incurs more and more reduction of buckling-strength. This study, subsequently the case of rigid-joint domes, is aimed at analyzing buckling-characteristics of pinned-joint single-layer latticed domes with triangular network subjected to initial imperfection.

  • To understand the interaction of a fluid and a rigid body, we use the concept of B-evolution. Then in a similar way to the usual Navier-Stokes system, we obtain a Helmholtz type decomposition. Using B-evolution theory and the decomposition, we work on the semigroup to analyze the linear part of the system.

  • Two kinds of blank shapes, optimum and square, are adopted to investigate formbility. Optimum blank shape is determined to construct an L-shape cup with uniform height and without flange part. For this purpose , rigid-plastic FEM analysis is applied with backward tracing technique. Maximum cup detph and strain distribution are measured experimetally for the products of the two kinds of blank shapes, which are optimum and square. It is confirmed that deeper cup without severe thickness reduction can be obtained fro the optimum shape.
