Implementation of Wireless Remote Controller for Welders using RF Communication (RF 통신을 이용한 용접기용 무선 리모콘의 실현)

  • In this paper, wireless remote controller for welderss are implemented using RF communication. It can be used for general welding power sources. Sometimes, wireless remote controllers for welders are needed because welding torches are far away from welding sources in the case of big ship-building or big tank constructions. In order to use the wireless remote controllers, digital cpu-based welding systems are essential for digital interfaces. But, in this paper, using digital resistors makes wireless remote controllers be easily applied to digital or analog welders. To demonstrate the practical significance of our results, some experimental results are presented.

  • RC(Remote Control) is a technology that can efficiently control and transfer a variety of user commands to CEs. However, the existing RCs have been required various additional features such as communication between CEs, extension of communication range, low power-consumption and bi-directional communication according to the advent of new types of CE devices and its enhanced performance. Even though RC controller has many customers' requests, it is not a simple solution because most legacies work on IR-based RC. In this paper, we propose RF4CE-based Universal Remote Control Framework using Smartphone in order to solve the many constraints of IR legacies. The proposed R-URC system is designed by RF4CE platform which is a kind of de-facto standard for CE remote control communication. From the verification scenarios using various CEs and smart phone, we can see that the proposed R-URC shows the good practical usage in terms of contents sharing and smart CE control.

A development of remote measurement robot with vision system (원격 화상 계측 로봇 개발)

  • This paper describes a development of remote measurement robot with vision system. The developed robot consists of robot controller and host PC program. The robot and camera can move with 2 degree of freedom by independent remote controlling a user friendly designe joystick. A visual image and command data translated through 900MHz and 447MHz RF controller, respectively. To show the validity of the developed system, operations of the robot in the field area were illustrated.

  • The RF4Control stack is used with microcontrollers and IEEE(R) 802.15.4 transceivers. This paper explains the setup and power consumption measurements for the transceiver based remote controller and target node. It is assumed the reader of this paper has knowledge about RF4CE. The current consumption measurements are made using the ZigBee Platform included with the RF4Control stack. he current consumption measurements are presented, and battery life time is calculated for an remote controller. Note that the results presented in this paper are intended as a guideline only. A variety of factors will influence the battery life calculation and final measurements and calculations should be performed on ZigBee RF4CE Certified Platform.

  • In this paper, we present a remote measurement system for the wireless monitoring of ECU Sensor Signals of vehicle. In order to measure the ECU sensor signals, the interface circuit is designed to communicate ECU and designed terminal wirelessly according to the ISO, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. A micro-controller 80C196KC is used for communicating ECU sensor signals. ECU sensor signals are transmitted to the RF-wireless terminal that was developed using the micro controller 80386EX. LCD, and RF-module. 80386EX software is programmed to monitor the ECU sensor signals using the Borland C++ compiler in which the half duplex method was used for the RS232 communication. The algorithms for measuring the ECU sensor signals are verified to monitor ECU state. At the same time, the information to fix the vehicle's problem can be shown on the developed monitoring software. The possibility for remote measurement of ECU sensor signals using 80386EX is also verified through the developed systems and algorithms.

  • Due to the development of drones, drone missions are performed in various fields, and BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line Of Sight) flight is performed in a wide area. Most drones operate through radio frequency (RF) communication and can only fly in a limited radius of about 1-2 km. To overcome this, in this paper, we propose a multi-communication protocol-based drone control system to control drones performing missions in BVLOS using RF and LTE (Long Term Evolution). The proposed system consists of a control unit and a drone unit. The control unit transmits one control signal generated from the remote controller through RF and LTE. The drone unit classifies the control signal transmitted through RF and LTE according to the priority of the communication protocol and delivers it to the FC (Flight Controller). Through the proposed control system, it is possible to overcome the RF communication distance limit and prevent the communication disconnection situation.

  • This paper describes a development of a robot working in hazard environment. The developed robot consists of robot controller with vision system and host PC program. The visual image and command data translated through 900MHz and 447MHz RF controller, respectively.   • Most of existing integrated remote controllers can control only a group of home appliances made by the same manufacturer. And they cannot monitor the status of home appliances since they are based on analog RF(Radio Frequency) signal and operate in a uni-directional manner In this paper, we propose a software framework for a hi-directional universal remote controller(URC) which monitors the status of home appliances in Wireless Personal Area Network(WPAN). The URC can handle the control and status messages which consist of a command with related arguments. When a user wants to control any home appliance, the URC can be dynamically configured to its dedicated remote controller by generating a GUI according to its profile. Any other devices which have a capacity for understanding the profile from the controlled devices can play the same role of the URC.

  • This paper presents a remote dimming control method for the electrodeless lamps using 2.4 GHz RF communication. Since the proposed dimming method are implemented with a simplest open loop control using ISM band HF modem and low cost MCUs, and the remote controller has just several functions such as On/Off and duty ratio increasing/decreasing. It can be made with low cost. In this paper, the detailed digital logics of the proposed remote dimming control are described and the experimental results are presented.

  • In stead of RF module which has been used conventionally in many remote measurement applications, a new type of remote measurement system based on PCS(Personal communication system) and one chip Microcontroller is proposed in this work. PCS has many advantages with respect to cost reliability, communication quality, and so on. The proposed system consists of three different modules: PCS module, micro-controller module, and sensor module. System configuration as well as illustrative experiments will be described in detail.
