A Study on the Effect of Business Consulting Performance on Organizational Performance - Focusing on Moderating Effect by Organizational Support - (조직성과에 영향을 미치는 컨설팅성과에 관한 연구 - 조직지원의 조절효과 중심으로 -)

  • This study set up a study model through a previous study and aims to determine the control effect by organizational support in the effect relationship between consulting performance which is an independent variable and organizational performance which is a dependent variable. To do that, the hypothesis was verified by using statistical programs such as SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 which can be statistically useful with 511 copies except for the copies which cannot be utilized, over 4 weeks from February $25^{th}$ to March $24^{th}$, 2015, focusing companies located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon. The hypothesis testing result of the study model set by this study shows that firstly, this study has contributed to establishing an additional theory in the research between consulting performance and organizational performance while it has not been enough for consulting performance and organizational performance in previous studies. Second, although the moderating variable of organizational support in the effect relationship between consulting performance and organizational performance didn't show a partial positive (+) role in the hypothesis testing, more detailed analysis in the survey process and the variety on questionnaire configuration were provided in the variable selection. Third, as consulting performance shows a positive effect on organizational performance, a higher consulting performance gives a direct impact on organizational performance so that a realistic action plan on internalizing and enhancing consulting execution result into organizational performance is aggressively required.

The Relationship between Earnings Management and Conservatism -Focused on Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms and Big-bath Firms- (이익조정과 보수주의 -적자회피기업과 Big-bath기업을 중심으로-)

  • In this paper, examined relationship between Earnings Management and Conservatism. For analysis of this purpose, we applied the Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms and Big-bath Firms. The results are as follows. First, conservative of Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms(sample I, II) is lower than the controlled companies. And Big-bath firms(sample III, IV) is higher than the controlled companies. This is a negative relationship between conservative and earning management. These results are consistent with previous research results. Second, When analyzing the Earnings Loss Avoidance Firms(sample I, II), Results are presented that conservative and earning management related to positive. These results reflect the company to Investors' demand for conservatism.

Trend of Regional Economic Development Disparity, Convergence and Inverse U-type Hypothesis Test in China (중국 지역경제발전 격차의 추세, 수렴과 역U자 가설 검증)

  • The study analyzes the trend of regional economic development disparity in China, sets up research period from 1952 to 2008, and uses the after-modified regional GDP data by the first national economic census in 2004. The results as follow. Firstly, the Coefficient of variation(CV) with after-modified GDP data lower than the pre-modified data. Secondly, generally speaking, after-reform and open period's disparity lower than pre-reform and open period. In particular, the regional development disparity increased slowly after 1990, not rapidly. Third, the new cycle of the inverse-U type is appeared from 2002. Fourth, compared with Herfindhal-Hirschman index(HHI) and Theil Entrophy index(TEI), the lower level regions more affect to reduce the disparity in 1980s, and it also affect to reduce the disparity after 2000. Fifth, the convergence hypothesis test finds that the regional economic development disparity has been converged in 1978-2008. Sixth, the inverse-U type hypothesis not has statistical significance, from 1952 to 2008, but it has statistical significance from 1991 to 2008. This result same as the CV and the convergence test.

The Optimal Project Combination for Urban Regeneration New Deal Projects (도시재생 뉴딜사업의 최적 사업지구 선정조합에 관한 연구)

  • The genetic algorithm (GA) and branch and bound (B&B) methods are the useful methods of searching the optimal project combination (combinatorial optimization) to maximize the project effect considering the budget constraint and the balance of regional development with regard to the Urban Regeneration New Deal policy, the core real estate policy of the Moon Jae-in government. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) will choose 13 central-city-area-type projects, 2 economic-base-type projects, and 10 public-company-proposal-type projects among the numerous projects from 16 local governments while each government can apply only 4 projects, respectively, for the 2017 Urban Regeneration New Deal project. If MOLIT selects only those projects with a project effect maximization purpose, there will be unselected regions, which will harm the balance of regional development. For this reason, an optimization model is proposed herein, and a combinatorial optimization method using the GA and B&B methods should be sought to satisfy the various constraints with the object function. Going forward, it is expected that both these methods will present rational decision-making criteria if the central government allocates a special-purpose-limited budget to many local governments.

The Relationship between Capital Composition and Market Share in the Global Shipping Market (글로벌 해운시장에서 기업의 자본구조와 시장점유율의 관계)

  • This study is to define the relationship between capital structure and the market share in the global shipping market, estimating the debt-equity ratio. To analyze the impact of the debt-equity ratio on market share, this study collected data from the 100 largest shipping companies from 2010 to 2017. Results identified that global shipping lines moderate their debt-equity rates to 62%, and all of them strategically utilize debt in order to increase market share in global shipping market. In comparison between the group focused on cargo volume and another group focused on freight rates, it is found that the group focused on cargo volume increase their handling cargo volume through increasing the debt rates. Another group used debt rate for reducing the freight rate and enhancing market power. Furthermore, after classifying the samples into high-growth and low-growth companies, this study compared the group focused on cargo volume and another group focused on freight rates. As a result, the low-growth group showed more significant impacts of the debt rate on market share than the high-growth group. The results of this study provide useful insight for future strategic decision making of shipping lines in the global shipping market.

Factors Affecting Single Parents' Grit : Focusing on Personal Resources and Family Resources (청소년 자녀를 둔 한부모의 그릿에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 개인적 자원과 가족자원을 중심으로)

  • Grit is a person's passion and perseverance that drive them to achieve long-term and meaningful goals. The purpose of this study was to identify practical resources that can affect single parents' grit. Using the fourth-year panel data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS 2018), descriptive statistics were produced and a correlation analysis was conducted for 284 single parents. Hierarchical regression analysis was also performed to explore the demographic factors, personal resources(psychological, lifestyle/health), and family resources(family relationships/child, economic) that affect single parents' grit. First, the correlation analysis revealed that single parents' grit had a significant correlation with age, education status, life satisfaction, happiness, self-esteem, smartphone dependency, physical activity time, frequency of breakfast consumption, household size, parent's satisfaction with child's school achievement and school adjustment, subjective family economic status, and private education expenses. Second, the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that education status, self-esteem, employment status, smartphone dependency, physical activity time, household size, parent's satisfaction with child's school achievement, and subjective family economic status were significant factors affecting single parents' grit. Based on the research results, this study suggests directions for programs and policies to provide a stable environment for single-parent families to raise their children.

Volatility Spillover Effects between BDI with CCFI and SCFI Shipping Freight Indices (BDI와 CCFI 및 BDI와 SCFI 운임지수 사이의 변동성 파급 효과)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the volatility spillover effects among BDI, CCFI and SCFI. This paper will divide the empirical analysis section into two periods to analyze and compare the differences in volatility spillover effect between shipping freight indices before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 separately. First, in order to compare the mean spillover impact and index lead-lag correlations in BDI and CCFI indices, along with BDI and SCFI indices before and after COVID-19, the co-integration analysis and the test of Granger causality built on the VAR model were utilized. Second, the impulse response and variance decomposition are employed in this work to investigate how the shipping freight index responds to shocks experienced by itself and other freight indices in a short period. Before the COVID-19 epidemic, the results demonstrated that the BDI freight index is the Granger cause of the variable CCFI freight index. But the BDI and CCFI freight indices have no apparent lead-lag relationships after COVID-19, and this empirical result echoes the cointegration test result. After the COVID-19 epidemic, the SCFI index leads the BDI index. This study employs the VAR-BEKK-GARCH joint model to explore the volatility spillover results between dry bulk and container transport markets before and after COVID-19. The empirical results demonstrate that after COVID-19, fluctuations in the BDI index still affect the CCFI index in the maritime market. However, there is no proof of a volatility spillover relationship between the BDI and SCFI after the COVID-19 epidemic. This study will provide an insight into the volatility relationship among BDI, CCFI and SCFI before and after the the COVID-19 epidemic occurred.

Participation in Housework Among 30-Somethings: A Latent Class Analysis (잠재계층분석을 통한 30대의 가사노동 참여 유형화)

  • This study will examine the changing nature of housework by analyzing participation in domestic work among 30-somethings according to generational and life cycle characteristics. To this end, 2,687 men and women in their 30s were taken from the 2020 Family Status Survey data, and a latent class analysis was conducted to categorize their participation in housework. The subjects were categorized into three groups: overall non-participation (18.05%), overall participation (59.96%), and intensive cleaning participation (21.99%). Gender, employment status, family life cycle, and attitudes about gender roles were significantly related to participation in housework. Men were more likely to be in the overall non-participation group, while women were more likely to be in the overall participation group. Individuals in the pre-formative period of the family life cycle were more likely to be in the overall non-participation group, while those in the formative and expanding periods were more likely to be in the overall participation group. The results of this study suggest that gender inequality in housework is common in the younger generation; the results also show that, in the same generation, individual participation in housework differs according to family life cycle.

Smartwork Application & Effects: Empirical Test for the Extended Work Design Theory (스마트워크 적용과 효과: 업무 설계 이론을 중심으로)

  • Under ubiquitous work environment, innovative changes occur in work process with ICT. The work process for collaboration through mobile devices and network should be investigated. The research model consists of two major antecedents: autonomy and interdependence as a task characteristic and job satisfaction as ultimate consequence followed by work design theory. To elaborate work design theory, smartwork application (app) use, communication extent, and work-life balance were reviewed from the literature. Data were collected from three ICT firms, which adopted certain smartwork app, and a partial least squares analysis was made on 175 data points. The analysis results show that task interdependence exerts a statistically significant effect on the level of smartwork app usage. Communication extent directly affects job satisfaction and work-life balance. The remarkable point is that smartwork app usage does not affect employees' work-life balance; the former can only affect the latter indirectly by increasing communication extent. This study attempts to explain the organizational impact by considering smartwork app and the effects simultaneously. We proposed and empirically tested the extended work design theory including information technology and its environment. Based on the results, other theoretical and practical contributions are discussed at the end with limitations and further studies.

A Study on the Performance of Cloud-based VDI Adoption: Comparing between IS administrators and business users (클라우드 기반 VDI 도입 성과에 관한 연구 - 시스템 관리자와 일반 사용자의 비교를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure(VDI) adoption. VDI performance was measured by IS manager (system quality, security, and managerial operation) and business user (usability, access, and user satisfaction). The survey questionnaires were developed for measuring VDI performance. 84 data samples were collected from the companies that had adopted cloud-based VDI. This research model was verified by Smart-PLS and SPSS. The research findings were as follows: First, the companies using VDI experienced actual performance, but they did not attain their expectation. Second, as results of comparing between IS managers and business users, IS administrators had considerably higher performance than business users, which indicates that there were big differences in performance perception among users. Compared with prior research such as technical trend, system construction, and performance improvement, this study has the following implications. First, by comparing the expected performance with the actual performance of the companies that have implemented and operating VDI, it was suggested how a company that wants to adopt VDI can manage the expectation level of VDI and achieve higher actual performance. Second, because the perception of VDI performance differs between business users and system managers, it is meaningful that a fair evaluation of VDI performance requires a balanced consideration of business users and system managers.
