  • A facile and efficient synthetic route has been developed for the polyhydroquinoline via four component reactions of aldehydes, dimedone, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate in the presence of catalytic amount of scolecite in ethanol at 70 ${^{\circ}C}$ through Hantzsch reaction. This method gives remarkable advantages such as simple work-up procedure, environmentally friendly, inexpensive, non-toxic and recyclable catalyst, shorter reaction time along with excellent yields.

  • A simple and efficient synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles was achieved via a one-pot three-component cyclocondensation of benzil, aromatic aldehydes, and ammonium acetate in the presence of a catalytic amount of tetrabutylammonium hexatungstate $[TBA]_2[W_6O_{19}]$ as a heterogeneous catalyst under thermal solvent-free conditions. The key features of this methodology are operational simplicity, high yields, short reaction times, and a recyclable catalyst with a very easy work up.

  • Alumina supported polyphosphoric acid (PPA/$Al_2O_3$) was successfully prepared by impregnation of alumina support by polyphosphoric acid and characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, the $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis (BET), thermal analysis (TG/DTG), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The catalytic behavior of this new solid acid supported heterogeneous catalyst was checked in the synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a, j]xanthenes by cyclocondensation reaction of ${\beta}$-naphthol and aryl aldehydes under solvent-free conditions. The results showed that the novel catalyst has high activity and the desired products were obtained in very short reaction times with high yields. Moreover, the catalyst can be easily recovered by filtration and reused at least three times with only slight reduction in its catalytic activity.

  • A very useful cation radical, triphenylaminium hexachloroantimonate, was quantitatively incorporated into insoluble polymer framework. The polymer cation radical was found to be effective as a catalyst in the Diels-Alder type dimerization and then shown to be reusable through several cycles of use.

  • The condensation of several aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes with 2-aminothiophenol catalyzed by silica sulfuric acid under microwave irradiation afforded 2-arylbenzothiazoles in high yields and short reaction times under solvent-free conditions. The major advantages of the present method are good yields, ecofriendly, reusable catalyst, mild and solvent-free reaction conditions.

  • A simple one-pot synthesis of two derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridines has been described under reflux conditions using copper iodide nanoparticles (CuI NPs) as a catalyst in high yields. This method demonstrated four-component coupling reactions of aldehydes and ammonium acetate via two pathways. In one route, the reaction was performed using 2 eq ethyl acetoacetate while in the other one 1 eq ethyl acetoacetate and 1 eq malononitrile were used. The CuI NPs was reused and recycled without any loss of activity and product yield. It is noteworthy to state that wide range of the 1,4-dihydropyridines have attracted large interest due to pharmacological and biological activities.
