  • The objectives of this study is to propose the direction of developing the reading activities of the individuals in the future society, and to develop the "model of Web-based reading strategy", based on the understanding of the information literacy reading strategies, and the characteristic and concept of web 3.0., for adapting to the changes in the media environment. In this study, 6 reading strategy models based on the web platform were developed. These 6 strategy models are Metacognitive Strategy, Information Retrieval Model, Personalization Strategy, Reading Strategy, Writing Strategy and Interpreting Strategy.

  • Scheduling strategy in the Education-on-Demand system should be designed to service the isochronous requests from several learners with single disk retrieval to improve the performance of the system. In this paper, the scheduling strategy which reduces the disk I/O and buffer consumption by utilizing the resources of the learner's system has been proposed. All the requests from the learner are not serviced from the server but forwarded to the learner's system which preserves the requested information. Therefore, the server can increase the throughput and reduces the initial latency time of the user. The proposed strategy has been compared to the conventional method by simulations and proved to be more efficient.

  • In recent years. XML applications are being developed in diverse area. Especially, development of XML document repository system associated with database is carrying out widely. The previous researches of XML repository system have several defects which are update and retrieval limitations for the XML document, design limitation for a formal retrieval algorithm and data redundancy. In order to solve the above problems. in this paper, we suggest relational database schemes for overcoming limitations of updating, retrieving, and rebuilding document. And suggest query translation strategy using two-phase translation that consists of pattern analyzing phase and SQL generating phase.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate developmental changes of metamemory. The subjects were 120 5, 7, and 9 year-old children. All children performed metamemory tests which were composed of person variable, task variables, and strategy variable. There were significant age differences in metamemory awareness. As for person variable, prediction accuracy was increased with age. As for task variables, older children recognized aims of tasks, whereas younger children perceived salient properties of tasks. Also, as for strategy variable, number and complexity of strategy for memory retrieval were increased with age.

  • This paper proposes a novel of a personalized Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) system based on learner's cognitive abilities related to foreign language proficiency. In this CALL system, a strategy of retrieval learning, a method of learning memory cycle, and a method of repeated learning are applied for effective vocabulary memorization. The system is designed to offer personalized learning based on cognitive abilities related to the human language process. For this, the proposed CALL system has a cognitive diagnosis module which can measure five types of cognitive abilities. The results of this diagnosis are used to create dynamic learning scenarios for personalized learning and to evaluate user performance in the learning. This system is also designed in order to have users be able to create learning word lists and to share them simply with various functions based on open APIs. Additionally, through experiments, it has shown that this system helps students to learn English vocabulary effectively and enhances their foreign language skills.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a plan for establishing SR (systematic review, hereinafter called SR) support services in domestic university libraries through a case study of SR support services in overseas university libraries. For this purpose, a total of 119 overseas university libraries were divided into all fields (subjects and disciplines) and the medical field. And A total of 10 areas such as service fields, service subjects, public relations, librarian roles (counselors, collaborators), education, librarian introduction, team member, application form, SR theoretical content, and others were divided and investigated. As a result, the SR support service of the university libraries being investigated is expanding from the medical field to academic fields such as natural science, engineering, and social science. It was confirmed that there were differences in service support hours, services, and whether co-authors were recognized according to the role of the librarian. Educational services are provided to users for the SR support service with a focus on retrieval strategy and skills. In the promotion of the SR support service, the librarian must suggest that it should be included. The importance of SR support services for Korean university libraries should be emphasized through the analysis of SR support services for overseas university libraries, professional search education should be strengthened in the curriculum. Also Organizations related to university libraries such as KERIS have suggested that systematic SR education support is needed for librarians.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the continuing education model desired by the academic librarians in the present digital environment. For this purpose the study undertook a questionnaire survey of academic librarians in Korea. As a result it was shown that 61.4% of the librarians participated more than once(average 2.6 times) in the continuing education program during the last one year. The most preferred program type was one week or 2-3 days workshop. The theme of the program was regarded the most important factor for the activation of the continuing education. and the preferred theme of the program was user instruction. information retrieval. electronic licensing. planning and strategy, library marketing, virtual reference service etc.
