  • In this article we have applied Schweizer & Sklars t-norm based similarity measures to classification task. We will compare results to fuzzy similarity measure based classification and show that sometimes better results can be found by using these measures than fuzzy similarity measure. We will also show that classification results are not so sensitive to p values with Schweizer & Sklars measures than when fuzzy similarity is used. This is quite important when one does not have luxury of tuning these kind of parameters but needs good classification results fast.

  • The experimental testing results of the large-scale version of a forward-looking ultrasound imaging catheter(FLUIC) are presented, along with the fabrication techniques used, experimental methods, and comparisons of the measured and simulated results. The transducer model is verified by measuring the electrical impedance of the transducer. The pulse width, beamwidth, and the dynamic range for both transmit and pulse-echo response of the fabricated FLUIC are also analyzed. The experimental results conformed its forward-looking imaging capability and the sources of discrepancies between the simulated and experimental beam profiles are addressed.

  • In the present paper, we investigate the convergence, equivalence of convergence, rate of convergence and data dependence results using a three step iteration process for mappings satisfying certain contractive condition in hyperbolic spaces. Also we give nontrivial examples for the rate of convergence and data dependence results to show effciency of three step iteration process. The results obtained in this paper may be interpreted as a refinement and improvement of the previously known results.

  • The main objective of this article is to establish some coincidence point theorem for g-non-decreasing mappings under contraction mapping principle on a partially ordered metric space. Furthermore, we constitute multidimensional results as a simple consequences of our unidimensional coincidence point theorem. Our results improve and generalize various known results.

  • This paper presents the results from a combination of strut-and-tie model and analytical study that investigated the ultimate strength of wall system with frame supports. Strut-and-tie models show reasonable force flows and upper bound solution is compared to the results from FEM analysis. The results shows that two main parameters - transfer girder depth and column width - yield good estimation of the ultimate strength of the system. Vertical and horizontal reinforcements of the transfer girder add few strength to the whole system. The proposed design strength formula shows good agreement with the results from FEM analysis.

  • This paper presents an analytical investigation pertaining to the elastic buckling behavior of pultruded fiber reinforced plastic equal-leg angle members under concentric axial compression. The elastic local and global buckling (flexural, torsional, and flexural-torsional) analyses are conducted, respectively, and the analytical results are compared with the existing experimental results. The differences were more than 10%, and the experimental results were higher than the analytical results.

  • This study was made to assess the possibility of predicting the nurses efficiency after graduation in college through their entrance examination and general attitude test results and their academic records. It was observed that generally nurses with the highest academic records were the most efficient in their work after graduation while those with high general aptitude test results came next although their college entrance examination results were comparatively low. Therefore it could be deduced from this study that college entrance examination results alone could not be depended upon in predicting the nurse's working efficiency after bet graduation.

  • This study shows how the finite element method for the structural problems could be applied in the electromechanical impedance analysis of an in-air piezoelectric cylinder transducer and then compares the numerical results by the FEM with the measured results using the impedance analyzer. The results also show that the comparison between both results could be applied to examine the mechanical properties of the added unknown material to transducer such as an acoustic window.

  • In this paper, the characterization results related to Chernoff-type inequalities are applied for exponential-type (continuous and discrete) families. Upper variance bound is obtained here with a slightly different technique used in Alharbi and Shanbhag [1] and Mohtashami Borzadaran and Shanbhag [8]. Some results are shown with assuming measures such as non-atomic measure, atomic measure, Lebesgue measure and counting measure as special cases of Lebesgue-Stieltjes measure. Characterization results on power series distributions via Chernoff-type inequalities are corollaries to our results.

  • In this paper, some basic results concerning the existence, strict and nonstrict inequalities and existence of the maximal and minimal solutions are proved for a hybrid causal differential equation. Our results generalize some basic results of Leela and Laksh-mikantham [13] and Dhage and Lakshmikantham [10] respectively for the nonlinear first order classical and hybrid differential equations.
