  • We establish a new strategy to study the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the Cauchy and Jensen equations in non-Archimedean normed spaces. We will also show that under some restrictions, every function which satisfies certain inequalities can be approximated by an additive mapping in non-Archimedean normed spaces. Some applications of our results will be exhibited. In particular, we will see that some results about stability and additive mappings in real normed spaces are not valid in non-Archimedean normed spaces.

  • In this paper, a design on the superconducting monolith for superconducting pulse magnet is described. Both stability and AC loss parameters are used in the design process, which restricted various design parameters. Determined design parameters satisfy both stability and AC loss restrictions. Finally superconducting monolith is flattened, fitting for magnet and acquiring transposition effect.

  • In this paper, we propose sufficient conditions under which nonlinear systems can be transformed into nonlinear observer canonical form in the extended state space by virtue of dynamic system extension. The proposed scheme weakens two major restrictions of observer error linearization technique. Once a nonlinear system is transformed into nonlinear observer canonical form using dynamic system extension, a state observer can be easily designed. Two illustrative examples are included in order to compare the proposed scheme and observer error linearization method.

  • We study the existence of positive solutions of second order nonlinear separated boundary value problems of superlinear as well as sublinear type without imposing monotonicity restrictions on the problem. The type of problem investigated cannot be analyzed using the linearization about the trivial solution because either it does not exist (the sublinear case) or is trivial (the superlinear case). The results follow from a known fixed point theorem by noticing that the concavity of the solutions provides an important condition for the applicability of the fixed point result.

  • One of the widely accepted assumptions in many statistical problem is that the underlying distribution is symmetric. Though a large number of nonparametric test are available in the literature for this problem, very few procedures focuses on the distributional structure when the symmetry assumption is rejected. Yanagimoto and Sibuya (1972) provided the various types of asymmetric distributional structure, positive biasedness, namely. In this paper we consider the test of symmetry against several new positive biasedness restrictions which are stronger than Yanagimoto and Sibuya's type II bias but weaker than type IV (III) bias.

  • We obtain the asymptotic distributions of tests statistics for various types of seasonal cointegration based on GRR estimators of Ahn and Cho (2003). These tests are useful in testing for restrictions about cointegrating vectors after Chi-square tests for CCI and common PCIV in Ahn and Cho (2003) or tests for the known CCI and the known PCIVs have been performed.

  • Lower bounds for the full level probabilities are derived under order restrictions in weights. Discussions are made on typical isotonic cones such as linear order, simple tree order, and unimodal order cones. We also discuss applications of these results for constructing conditional likelihood ratio tests for ordered hypotheses in a contingency table. A real data set on torus mandibularis will be analyzed for illustrating the testing procedure.

  • In this paper, we operate Synchronous Reluctance Motor(SynRM) using the two-phase conduction method. Acually SynRM is operated by the sinusoidal PWM method but in home-appliance there is many restrictions of making the motor such as the method of winding, the shape of rotor etc. Therefore it is possible that there is little difference of performance between the two-phase conduction method and the sinusoidal PWM method. In this paper the characteristics of motor noise will be analyzed especially in the case of using the two-phase conduction method by experiment results.

  • In this paper, a robust method is developed to precisely detect iris of both eyes. The method does not put any restrictions on the background. The method is based on AdaBoost for face and eye candidate points detection. Candidate points are post-processed and an iris pair is selected using mean crossing function and a convolution template.

  • Evolutionary Algorithm is the general method that can search the optimum value for the various problems. Evolutionary method consists of random selection, crossover, mutation, etc. Since the next generation is selected based on the fitness values, the crossover between chromosomes does not have any restrictions. Not only normal marriage but also consanguineous marriage will take place. In human world, consanguineous marriage was reported to cause various genetic defects, such as poor immunity about new diseases and new environment disaster, These problems translate into searching for the local optimum, not the global optimum. So, a new evolutionary algorithm is needed that prevents traps to...
