  • The aim of this research was to apply experimental design methodology in the optimization condition of electrochemical oxidation of Rhodamine B(RhB). The reactions of electrochemical oxidation were mathematically described as a function of parameters amounts of current, NaCl dosage, pH and time being modeled by the use of the central composite design, which was used for fitting quadratic response surface model. The application of response surface methodology using central composite design(CCD) technique yielded the following regression equation, which is an empirical relationship between the removal efficiency of RhB and test variable in actual variables: RhB removal (%) = 3.977 + 23.279$\cdot$Current + 49.124$\cdot$NaCI - 5.539$\cdot$pH - 8.863$\cdot$time - 22.710$\cdot$Current$\cdot$NaCl + 5.409$\cdot$Current$\cdot$time + 2.390$\cdot$NaCl$\cdot$time + 1.061$\cdot$pH$\cdot$time - $0.570{\cdot}time^2$. The model predicted also agree with the experimentally observed result($R^2$ = 91.9%).

  • The problem considered in this paper is to select the vital factor effect to the product quality through the experimental design and analysis of response surface, so as to control the quality improvement of industrial product. In this time, even through the mathematical model is unknown it could be applicable to control the quality of industrial products and to determine optimum operating condition for many technical fields, particulary, for industrial manufacturing process. When a set of data is available from an experimental design, it is often of interest 1:0 fit polynominal repression model in independent variables (eg, time, temperature, pressure, etc) the optimize the response variable (eg. yield, strength etc). This paper proposes a method known to obtain the optimum operating condition, and how to find the condition by using table of orthogonal array experiments, and optimization methodology of statistical model. A criterion can be applied determining to optimum operating conditions in manufacturing industry and improving the fit of response surface which may be used for prediction of responses and quality control of industrial products.

  • This paper presents an experiment on the modeling, analysis, prediction and optimization of machining parameters used during the turning process of the low-carbon steel known as ST40. The parameters used to develop the model are the cutting speed, the feed rate, and the depth of the cut. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with three level of parameters and two different treatments for each level (with and without a lubricant), to determine the effects of the parameters on the surface roughness and electric current consumption. These effects were investigated using response surface methodology (RSM). A second-order model is used to predict the values of the surface roughness and the electric current consumption from the results of experiments which collected preliminary data. The results of the experiment and the predictions of the surface roughness and electric current consumption under both treatments were found to be nearly identical. This result shows that the feed rate is the main factor that influences the surface roughness and electric current consumption.

  • Optimization of the process parameters is carried out for process design in sheet metal forming processes. The scheme incorporates with a rigid-plastic finite element method for the deformation analysis and response surface methodology for the optimum searching of process parameters. The algorithm developed is applied to design of the draw bead force and the die radius in deep drawing processes of rectangular cups. The present algorithm shows the capability of designing process parameters which enable the prevention of the weak part of fracture during processes.

  • The variety of organic and inorganic pollutants are introduced to coastal sediment and making highly contaminated due to rapid development of industralization and economic development. Numerous contaminants are release into marine sediment and it significantly affect marine aquatic environment. In the present study stated the optimize the biostimulant ball (BSB) in coastal sedimentand stabilse the heavy metals present in the sediment. The effective variables like BSB size, distance and month variables on Cu stabilization was determined by using Response surface methodology(RSM). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and coefficient determination (R2) of Cu reduction 0.9610 and maximum stabilisation was obtained in 3cm ball size and 5.5cm distance and 4 month interval time. This result revealed that the BSB in effective for Cu reduction in coastal sediment.

  • This paper presents a study of tool-life equation on cut-off test by the statistical approach, referred to as response surface methodology instead of a conventional one-variable at a time method. It is the merit of response surface methodology that the test time is reduced to minimize the size and accurate analysis can be done. The reliability of such an equation can also be estimated. Two independent variables, cutting speed and feed rate, were investigated. A first order modeling equation is presented in this project. The results of this study are as follows that tool-life in cut-off operation is affected by cutting speed more than feed, and first order tool-life predicting equations are in good agreement with experimental results.

  • This paper presents an optimization of permanent magnet (PM) in a brushless dc (BLDC) motor using the response surface methodology (RSM). Size and angle of the PM are optimized to minimize the cogging torque, while reducing the magnitude of harmonic at a dominant frequency and maintaining the operating torque. A fitted RS model is constructed by verifying the high reliability of the total variation and the variation of estimated error. The optimized design is validated by carrying out the reanalysis and comparing to the initial model using the nonlinear transient finite element analysis.

  • This paper deals with the optimum design solution on reduction of torque ripple for a Synchronous Reluctance Motor with concentrated winding using response surface methodology. The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model have been used to evaluate the nonlinear solution. Comparisons are given with characteristics of a SynRM according to the stator winding, slot number, open width of slot, slot depth, teeth width variation in concentrated winding SynRM, respectively. This paper presents an optimization procedure using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine design parameters for reducing torque ripple. RSM has been achieved to use the experimental design method in combination with finite Element Method (FEM) and well adapted to make analytical model for a complex problem considering a lot of interaction of design variables. Moreover, Sequential Quadratic Problem (SQP) method is used to solve the resulting of constrained nonlinear optimization problem.

  • The optimal condition for hydrolysis of oyster was evaluated with proteases using response surface methodology(RSM). Among 11 commerical proteases, APLTM 440 was selected as the suitable protease for producing oyster hydrolysate on the basis of cost per unit enzyme activity. The effect of autolysis on degree of hydrolysis in oyster was negligible comparing to that of APL 440 protease treatment. From RSM and ridge analysis, the conditions favoring the highest degree of hydrolysis were pH 9.95, 61.1$^{\circ}C$, 2.64 hr reaction time, 49.2% substrate, and 0.35% enzyme/substrate ratio. Oyster hydrolysate prepared under optimal conditions shwoed virtually 51.98% of hydrolysis.
