In this paper, we investigate survivability in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) mesh networks and propose a new algorithm called improved shared-path protection (ISPP) to completely tolerate the double-link failures. Compared with previous algorithms for protecting double-link failures, i.e., shared-path protection (SPP) and shared-link protection (SLP), the advantage of ISPP is to allow primary paths and backup paths to share the mixed wavelength-links based on the proposed new rules in which some primary wavelength-links can be changed to mixed wavelength-links, which can be shared by primary paths and backup paths. In addition, some mixed wavelength-links also can be shared by different backup paths for saving resources. Simulation results show that ISPP algorithm performs better in resource utilization ratio and blocking probability than conventional SPP and SLP algorithms.
This paper proposes an efficient interference control scheme for vehicular moving networks. The features of the proposed scheme are as follows: radio resources are separated into two resource groups to avoid interference between the cellular and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) links; V2V links are able to share the same radio resources for an improvement in the resource efficiency; and vehicles can adaptively adjust their transmission power according to the interference among the V2V links (based on the distributed power control (DPC) scheme derived using the network utility maximization method). The DPC scheme, which is the main feature of the proposed scheme, can improve both the reliability and data rate of a V2V link. Simulation results show that the DPC scheme improves the average signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio of V2V links by more than 4 dB, and the sum data rate of the V2V links by 15% and 137% compared with conventional schemes.

In wide-ranging information society, fast and easy access to information in language of one's choice is indispensable, which may be provided by using various multilingual Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. Natural language text contains references among different language elements, called anaphoric links. Resolving anaphoric links is a key problem in NLP. Anaphora resolution is an essential part of NLP applications. Anaphoric links need to be properly interpreted for clear understanding of natural languages. For this purpose, a mechanism is desirable for the identification and resolution of these naturally occurring anaphoric links. In this paper, a framework based on Hobbs syntactic approach and a system developed by Lappin & Leass is proposed for resolution of reflexive anaphoric links, present in Urdu text documents. Generally, anaphora resolution process takes three main steps: identification of the anaphor, location of the candidate antecedent(s) and selection of the appropriate antecedent. The proposed framework is based on exploring the syntactic structure of reflexive anaphors to find out various features for constructing heuristic rules to develop an algorithm for resolving these anaphoric references. System takes Urdu text containing reflexive anaphors as input, and outputs Urdu text with resolved reflexive anaphoric links. Despite having scarcity of Urdu resources, our results are encouraging. The proposed framework can be utilized in multilingual NLP (m-NLP) applications.

This paper proposes an opportunistic subchannel allocation (OSA) scheme for relay-based marine communication networks to improve a sum-rate capacity. In most previous works for relay-based networks, each RS delivers the data received from the BS immediately to the corresponding ships in each frame. The achievable data-rate of the two-hop transmission (BS-RS and RS-ship links) is thus limited by the channel quality between BS-RS and RS-ship links. Hence, the radio resources can be wasted according to the difference in the channel quality between the BS-RS link and the RS-ship link. The proposed OSA scheme reduces the waste of radio resources by efficiently and independently allocating the radio resources at the BS-RS link and at the RS-ship link according to the channel quality of each link. The proposed OSA scheme, however, increases the computational complexity, because the BS finds the optimal OFDMA resource by checking the channel quality of all BS-RS links and RS-ship links. The simulation results show that the sum-rate capacity of the proposed OSA scheme improves maximum 14.0% compared with the conventional scheme.

Device-to-Device communication(D2D) enables devices in proximity to communicate directly without going through the network infrastructure. In particular, D2D communications in a cellular network can improve the spectral efficiency by allowing the reuse of cellular resources. However, it is not easy to maintain the channel quality of the D2D links and to protect the cellular links from the D2D interferences, since the resource allocations for the cellular users will change with time due to the time-varying nature of the cellular channels. To mitigate the performance degradation of D2D links, we propose to exploit unlicensed bands as auxiliary resources when the D2D links share the uplink cellular resources. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified through simulations.

As the number of Web reference resources are gradually increasing, reference librarians have to create a Web-based reference resources site. This site includes links to the Web reference resources of good quality, so that reference librarians and users will become accustomed to using these resources. This Study first explores the function of the Web-based reference resources site. Next, it carries out a survey of the current trends in america and Korea. Finally, a model Web-based reference resources site for academic libraries is developed.

The exponential increase of digital contents brought about the e-Challenge crisis to the librarians. How can all the e-resources be managed effectively? How can we detect all the broken links? How can we assist the users to the right resources? This paper concentrates on building CLICK(Cooperative Link Center in KOREA) as a knowledge compass by collecting diverse science & technology information and creating tight coupled links between information resources for reference linking and providing users with the optimal route for the resource per user. If the publishers, Abstract & Index DB, Searching Portal, Electronic Libraries, Full-text DB and Aggregator can be linked by using a standardized way through a CLICK, the service channels can be diversified. Users can select the channels without rein under according to a use purpose and conditions.

Recently, demand for real-time data and multimedia data is rapidly increasing, and it is impossible for mobile Ad Hoc networks with only best effort service to efficiently transfer such data. So, we absolutely need the QoS service which reserves the communication resources in advance. The existing routing protocols, which assume that the links between nodes are bidirectional, provide the convenience for the route discovery and maintenance, but can not support the routing function for the unidirectional links due to the wireless link property easily changing with time under the real wireless environment. In order to solve such problems, in this dissertation we suggested a unidirectional QoS routing a waste of communication resources. The waste of protocol that supports unidirectional links and reduces communication resources is reduced by establishing the shortest route suitable to QoS support, considering in advance the usable communication resources at each node.
A routing strategy based on traffic prediction and dynamic cache allocation for satellite nodes is proposed to address the issues of high propagation delay and overall delay of inter-satellite and satellite-to-ground links in low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems. The spatial and temporal correlations of satellite network traffic were analyzed, and the relevant traffic through the target satellite was extracted as raw input for traffic prediction. An improved gradient boosting regression tree algorithm was used for traffic prediction. Based on the traffic prediction results, a dynamic cache allocation routing strategy is proposed. The satellite nodes periodically monitor the traffic load on inter-satellite links (ISLs) and dynamically allocate cache resources for each ISL with neighboring nodes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed routing strategy effectively reduces packet loss rate and average end-to-end delay and improves the distribution of services across the entire network.

In this paper, we propose a message transmission processing structure for efficient use of radio resources. Existing tactical data links have more data and accumulate more data than the amount of tactical data planned according to the situation. This may result in delays in operations and additional problems. To prevent this, priority is assigned to the message and transmission is performed according to the priority on a single basis. And we design a processing structure that can update duplicate messages and delete old messages in order to prevent waste of radio resources. Experiments are conducted to verify that these structures can be implemented and applied to data links.
