  • We study optical quantum transition line widths in relation to magnetic field dependence properties of the electrons confined in an infinite square well potential system between z = 0 and z = Lz in the z - direction. We consider two systems-one is subject to right circularly oscillating external fields and the other is subject to left circularly oscillatory external fields. Our results indicate that the line widths of right circularly oscillating external fields is larger than the line widths of left, while the opposite result is obtained for the line widths.

  • We analyzed and measured a CPW(coplanar waveguide)-to-microstrip right-angled transition. Asymmetric CPW-to-microstrip transitions show significant resonances by the slot mode generation at the discontinuities. The air-bridge just shifting the resonance frequency can not fundamentally suppress the occurrence of the slot mode. So, we proposed the structure using offset microstrip section to eliminate the resonance. The proposed structure may be useful for the application of multi-layed structure.

  • Backbone $^1H$, $^{13}C$ and $^{15}N$ resonance assignments are presented for the anticodon binding domain (residues 557-674) of human glycyl-tRNA synthetase (GRS). Role of the anticodon binding domain (ABD) of GRS as an anticancer ligand has recently been reported and its role in other diseases like Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) and polymyositis have increased its interest. NMR assignments were completed using the isotope [$^{13}C/^{15}N$]-enriched protein and chemical shifts based secondary structure analysis with TALOS+ demonstrate similar secondary structure as reported in X-ray structure PDB 2ZT8, except some C-terminal residues. NMR signals from the N-terminal residues 557 to 571 and 590 to 614 showed very weak or no signals exhibiting dynamics or conformational exchange in NMR timescale.

  • A theoretical model based on Rayleigh-Ritz method is proposed to predict the resonance frequency of a W/T(Wind Turbine) tower structure supported by guy cables. In order to verify the validity of the theoretical model, a reduced W/T tower system is manufactured and tested. Frequency response and mode data are determined by modal testing and finite element analysis is performed to calculate the natural frequency of the tower model. Numerical and experimental results are compared with those by the theoretical analysis. Parametric study by the theoretical model shows how the cable tension and cable elasticity influence the resonance frequency of the W/T tower structure. Finally, vibration response under various rotating speed is investigated to examine the possibility of severe resonance.

  • Vibration response of the tower structure of a 750kW wind turbine generator is investigated by measurement and analysis. Acceleration response of the tower under various operation condition is monitored in real time by vibration monitoring system using LabVIEW. Resonance state of the tower structure is diagnosed in the operating speed range. To predict the tower resonance frequency, tower is modeled as an equivalent beam with a lumped mass and Rayleigh energy method is applied. Calculated tower bending frequency is in good agreement with the measured value and the result shows that the simplified model can be used in the design stage of the wind turbine tower.

  • The nonlinear dynamic characteristics of a two-degree-of-freedom beam-mass structure is investigated. The flexible L-shaped structure with a two-to-one internal resonance is subject to a primary resonance and the resulting planar dynamic responses are examined. A quadratic damping, which has been avoided to use because of the difficulties in the analysis, is considered to take into account the effect of viscous damping due to the surrounding fluid. The method of multiple scales is used to determine first-order approximations to the solutions. Force-response and frequency-response curves are generated.
