Apartment, which have become the major housing style in Korea, have contributed to the development of housing culture as well as achieved a growth in volume. However, the demands and characteristics of residents have not been reflected in the apartment. because it has been developed only for a growth in volume. In this society, apartments need to be developed for resident. Therefore, the purpose of this study is analyzing apartment design factors and examining the appropriateness of apartment residents. To do so, questionnaire research is conducted and 90 questionnaires are analyzed for this study. The questionnaire mainly consists of questions about residential appropriateness of each space, and reaction and coping behavior on the inappropriate residential environment.

This study is to analyze the units of flexible high-rise mixed use apartment(Chereville) targeting at Guwidong in Seoul. In order to analyze the different type of units, it is selected 60 unit plans. The results were as followings . 1) It is revealed from the request of residents in regard to the LDK that kitchen and living room are recognized as sharing spaces and thereby, the importance of them grows bigger. 2) The need for storage space appears compared to the Past, and actual residents add new built-in cabinet of drawer in kitchen, diningroom, and balcony. Therefore, the storage planning is needed in order to keep and store life goods in addition to clothing closet.

In general, the function of university dormitory includes residental, educational and many other functions for students who need quite environment and energetic living life. This functions influence the residental satisfaction of university dormitory. So this study attempts to evaluate many functions of the D-university dormitory according to the residents (students) needs and satisfaction. In the present work, SPSS window version 12.0 programs Anova (duncan, scheff, T-test. etc.) was used for analysis of statistical data which obtained from survey. The field surveys carried out for a total samples of 159 residents such as male (86), female (73), in the D-university dormitory. The result appears that the most dissatisfied factor of resident was the space and facilities of wash room. and students demand that various room and program in the dormitory except main space (unit room).

This study analyzes the images of city residents on the landscape elements of the rural theme villages. The results of analysis bring the following conclusions. 1) Important factor of rural landscape with worth preserving is natural landscape such as dense forests, trees and creek. 2) Natural landscape such as forests and trees is evaluated high in image-assessment as well. However, it is evaluated low in the image of "Diversity", therefore, various species of trees need to be preserved. 3) In the future, people who spent their life only in the city would be the main stream of Green-tourism, and their structure of image-assessment needs to be reorganized.

Designing of the apartment house in present has been contributing to private unit reflected demands and characteristics of residents. However, common space hasn't been designed in various ways compared to unit. Though the main entrance is place to link inner space and out space, to make resident identity and to communicate with neighbors, It has been produced the same type. The space design in 21st century is focusing on contents of space with the development of techniques, and we need to find applicability of new design related to digital technology in apartment house. The purpose of this study is to find applicability of interaction design at main entrance in apartment house for improvement functions of entrance. The results of this study were as follows; The main entrance is possible more active place through the interaction design that would be satisfied with residents needs and functions.

This study has been designed to explore how the types of housing life-style relate to the preferences of internal and external spaces among multi-family housing residents. Data were collected by questionnaire self-administered to 278 female residents living in multi-family housing over 20s pyong (66$m^2$) in the Kwangju area. General linear model/Duncan-test, and $x^2$-test were used in analyzing the data. In the preferences of internal space, there were significant differences in the needs of an indoor garden, exercise spaces, and a front balcony and in the concept of the living room and the dining-kitchen by types of housing life-style. In the preferences of external spaces, there were significant difference in the preferred type of housing, the preferred residential area, and in the need of an individual storage space and a walking path by types of housing life-style.

Kitchen space is one of the most dangerous places for the elderly. Modifications of kitchen space for improving safety and independence for older residents are very important factor for aging in place. The purpose of this study was to identify the current situations and modifications of kitchen space by elderly-headed households. The sample included 108 respondents over the age 65 who consisted of elderly-couple or single person household with homeownership in Seoul. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Based on the findings of the study, the present incidence and recognition of future need in kitchen modifications were identified. Changes made in kitchen space tended to be nonstructural or relatively inexpensive items. In conclusion, this study suggests several ideas for improving current physical problems of kitchen space to support safe and independent daily living of older residents.

The current regulations and laws related to landscaping facilities within apartment estates stipulate the proportion of the estate lot allocated to green area and landscaping. These regulations define the criteria for landscaping, the density of trees and other related matters. In fact. the selection and locations of trees are determined by the builder. The builder first decides the location of the building and then allocates the residual land to landscaping. So landscaping within apartment complexes is often unmet to residents' need and ecological growth and function of trees and plants. This study was designed to examine the variety of trees and their location as an aspect of their function within each area of the YS and DK apartment complexes. As the results, the difference in the two estates is striking in aspects of quantity and quality. Even though the regulations for landscaping within apartment estate is met. the real landscaping is often unmet to residents and general people.
