The purpose of this study is to set up a model of affective evaluation to structurally and systematically analyse subjective affective expressions of human beings with regard to the residential environment and to analyse the correlation between affective responses of residents and physical elements by positively applying the model to the evaluation of outdoor space of apartment complexes as an area of study on evaluation of residential environment. The area for evaluation was limited to three apartment complexes situated in Daegu, and the subjects for evaluation were also limited to a group of residents(housewives) living at the three apartment complexes. The research method is summarized as follows. 214 affective words(adjective phrases) expressing outdoor space of apartments were selected from literature on random sampling basis, and reduced to 25 ones through factor analysis. Then, these 25 words were systematized by an affective evaluating scale with 7 categories of meaning. The evaluation was conducted with 324 homemakers living at the apartment complexes selected for evaluation from September 29, 2000 to October 5, 2000. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.

For rural landscape management to run in virtuous circle, the present study has paid attention to the roles and activities of local residents and administration, which are the main sectors of managing landscape. In this respect, this study is aimed to arrange the roles of local residents and administration for landscape management and propose the basic data necessary to develope evaluation index for effectiveness of rural landscape policy. Key findings and implications are as follows. First, literature reviews of 18 landscape management studies found 37 administrative roles and 7 roles of local residents. And those roles were classified into 3 factors by similar concept: 'local government support system', 'landscape management planning', and 'promoting the participation of residents'. Second, two Delphi surveys were conducted with landscape experts to verify the validity of those evaluation items by sector. Third, factor analysis was carried out to analyze the hierarchical structure of those evaluation items. 3 sub-factors were extracted from 'local government support system' sector; 2 sub-factors from the 'landscape management planning' sector; and 4 sub-factors from the 'promoting participation of residents' sector. Fourth, the hierarchy of those evaluation factors was divided into high and low classes and sub-indexes were structured to examine the relative importance of each class and assign a relative weight on each index. The most important sub-factors were turned out as follows: 'local residents' will to practice landscape activities (0.112)', 'local government budget for rural landscape management (0.088), and 'restriction on buildings by village regulation (0.068). It indicates the viewpoints of the landscape experts that local residents' voluntary participation in landscape activities and agreement of local residents on landscape management by village, e.g. village regulation, are preconditions for successful landscape management. In addition, it is significant for a local government to secure the budget of landscape management to support local residents support.

Rural landscape is an outcome of residents' life activity based on natural environment. Unlike city, rural residents make their own landscape over a period of time interacting with nature through cultivating and building houses and huts based on the background. Therefore, residents' role in rural area is of greater importance than city's and their recognition of landscape is a key factor to evaluate and manage rural landscape. Landscape Evaluation Map which utilizing Feeling Map method is a evaluation tool to [md out residents' recognition of landscape. In this tool, responses evaluate landscape around their living space and mark color dots which mean landscape grade on a map. This research is to examine effectiveness and applicability of the tool, Landscape Evaluation Map, which is recommended to estimate residents' evaluation of landscape. Through analyzing 7 cases of field application, the effectiveness of Landscape Evaluation Map has been verified and also demerits have been drawn. After modifying detailed techniques and developing resident education, Landscape evaluation map could be applied to [md out landscape resources rather than to evaluate whole rural landscape.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the affective responses and residents' satisfaction in apartment housing estates. This study was conducted to empirically identify the effect of physical contents of apartment buildings on the affective response and satisfaction of residents. The area for evaluation was limited to four apartment buildings in Daegu, and the subjects for evaluation were also limited to a group of residents living at the four apartment buildings. SPSSWIN, a statistical program was used for analysis.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the correlation analysis between the experienced crime victimization rate and the evaluation indicator of residents' safety of outdoor spaces from crime in multi-family housing. Additionally this paper intend to analyze the correlation analysis between the residents' satisfaction about safety and the evaluation indicator of residents' safety of outdoor spaces. For that purpose, 9 Multi-Family Housing located in the metropolitan area were selected to perform a survey against 349 residents during May 26-29, 2006. The SPSS program was used and the level of satisfaction ranged from 1 to 5. Scale of 5 being most satisfied while 1 being most dissatisfied. The results of this study are the followings; 1) Most occurred crime were auto theft and damages, poster matter theft, housebreaking. 2) The crime rate is higher in outdoor than in indoor. 3) This study proved the correlation between the residents' satisfaction about housing safety and most indicators except the number of households etc. 4) By the results of the correlation coefficient it makes clear that the number of apartment building, the visibility of Green Space, the location of pedestrian etc. have relation with the residents' satisfaction about housing safety.

The purpose of this study is to examine the consciousness of residents and managers in multi-family housing management. Research methods used in this study were survey, field study. The parts of evaluation tool are composed of maintenance, operating management, residential life management. The evaluation tool of questionnaire got contents through documents research. This study indicates; first, residents' evaluation about the degree of satisfaction was totally lower than its importance. Specially, perception on residential life management was lowest. Second, it seems that managers assume indifferent attitude toward management works. It was caused by low pay, inferior work environment, and residents' exceeding interferences. In future, such efforts as residents participation, improvements of managerial work environment are required for the housing management efficiency.

This study aims to recognize the importance of the outdoor environment for the improvement in the residents' quality of life and analyze residents' outdoor behavior(physical and psychological) pattern in terms of relation to outdoor environment in Multi-Housing Complexes. Our survey was performed to the residents of 6 Multi-Housing Complexes located in Pusan, and analyzed residents' consciousness, use and evaluation in relation to outdoor space according to the characteristics of the Multi-Housing Complexes. The results are as follows: l. The outdoor space is classified into resting space, green space, parking space, play space and sport space. Most of residents recognize that green space and parking space are the most important of the outdoor space. 2. Mainly, wives use for stroll and talk, husbands use for sports and stroll, and children use for sports and play. 3. The parking space is the highest score and sport space is the lowest score according to the residents' evaluation of the outdoor space, and yet sport space must be considered in planning of outdoor space because the residents' needs are high.

The purpose of this study is to propose a model for evaluating comfort of indoor environment based on residents' subjective respones. The questionnaire survey was given to the residents at apartment complex located in Ilsan, Kyunggi-Do. The following are the results obtained in this thesis. The results of path analysis on comfort revealed that direct effects to comfort were the satisfaction on thermal environment, indoor air environment and sound environment, and the cognition on indoor air environment and sound environment. An evaluation formula of comfort by the factors of direct effects was given. This formula is recommended to evaluate comfort for pp.O.E(post occupancy evaluation)by residents.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual conditions of illumination circumstances in living rooms and the evaluation of residents about those. The respondents of this study were residents of 236 detached houses and 163 apartment houses in Taegu city, The results are as follows: (1) Fluorescent lamps are usded in living rooms by half and plural lighting fixtures are generally used; ceiling light and chandelier. While direct light system is generally used and core type is the most frequent in living rooms. (2) The average used illumination level is 59.7 1x while the possession illumination level is 84.9 1x by investigating of illumination circumstances. (3) Over half of residents are satisfied with illumination circumstances in their own houses. While they wish to improve the lighting fixtures lightness and the kind of light soure in order. And the evaluation of residents are medial level.

This research is to understand the residents' responses and evaluation about their apartment interior environment and thereby to be used as the basix data for designing residential space environment of new apartment complex in Sanggae area. The specific obectives of research were 1) to examine the residents' vale and life style concerning several specific rooms, 2) to find out residents' evaluation on physical characteristics, and 3) to understand residents' preference and demand for characteristics of interior space. Research method used was personal interview using a structured questionnaire. Residents living in 13, 15, 18, 22, 25 pyung in three selected large apartment complex areas provided dada : 777 questionnalires were used for analysis. Data were analyzed using the SPSS computer package. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, F-test, χ\sup 2\-test, Duncan's multiple range test, Pearson's correlation coefficient.
