This study is designed to explore the relationship between the level of housing satisfaction and housing values, as well as family characteristics and characteristics of residence. Questionnaires are administered to 526 adolescents from the four residential areas in Kwangju. Most of the adolescents are satisfied with their housing environment, especially indoors, however, they show a lower level of satisfaction toward the appearance and organization of the unit plan. It is found that the level of the safety, comfortability and social values predicted a meaningful variance in the level of housing satisfaction. Those with a higher degree of safety and social values tend to be associated with stronger housing satisfaction, whereas those with lower comfortability values are more associated with stronger housing satisfaction. Groups with higher household incomes are more likely to be satisfied with their housing environment. Groups living within a younger and larger house are more likely to be satisfied with their housing environment. Also, owners tend to show a stronger degree of housing satisfaction than renters.

The purpose of this study was to analyze spatial characteristics of Chinese traditional residents. This study was carried out in order to have a clear understanding of how cultures of neighboring countries influence Korean residential history and to grasp an objective view on characteristics of Korean houses by comparing and contrasting the characteristics of Chinese residents. This survey was conducted by observing, interviewing, taking pictures and analyzing the pictures that were taken on the real spot. Additional data were collected by participating the seminars of Chinese experts on the traditional house. The spatial layouts and function of Chinese traditional house were analyzed by using pictures, sketches and data which were gathered by interviewing and observing. The shape of Chinese traditional unit plans of houses is basically linear. By repeating this linear shape in the south.north and east.west side, various shapes are formed as an outcome. tangwu and woshi, the living space of Chinese traditional house are strictly hierarchical.

In general, the function of university dormitory includes residental, educational and many other functions for students who need quite environment and energetic living life. This functions influence the residental satisfaction of university dormitory. So this study attempts to evaluate many functions of the D-university dormitory according to the residents (students) needs and satisfaction. In the present work, SPSS window version 12.0 programs Anova (duncan, scheff, T-test. etc.) was used for analysis of statistical data which obtained from survey. The field surveys carried out for a total samples of 159 residents such as male (86), female (73), in the D-university dormitory. The result appears that the most dissatisfied factor of resident was the space and facilities of wash room. and students demand that various room and program in the dormitory except main space (unit room).

The purpose of this study is to find the method about the design factors considering the remodeling of apartment housing. Domestic remodeling operations has been developed incessantly. Recently, instead of redevelopment and reconstruction, remodeling operations is being generalization. Therefore by considering the related building code, this study seeks the revisions and try to understand the architectural character of apartment housing and find the design factors throughout the remodeling case of apartment housing. For instance, it is to make use of the flexible partition in unit plan or consider a various house plan etc. So by analyzing these remodeling design factor, we will be able to live the residential environment more extensive than previously.

This paper describes the issues that must be considered for the diagnosis and improvement of home network systems during the product development phase, and what must be done to resolve the reliability problem when a system is about to enter the Japanese market. It suggests that after the product specifications are determined, an accurate analysis of the environment is needed, and should include factors such as the temperature, humidity and power source of the country concerned. Furthermore, the video standards, residential complex installation environment, wiring specifications, and approval standards must be considered. All the above processes are described in this paper through the case study. The purpose of this paper is that suggested procedures in this research is to be used as a reference for developing similar products in the future.

A house is basic unit of human being living space and it reflects an occupation, family relation, a life style and sense of value of resident. To analyze of modernization process the rural house in Japan diversely and systematically, this study examined the elements and characteristics of changing floor plan in house through field studies and residential interviewing about the rural house of Miyashiro, Saitama pref. in Japan. The results of this study are as follow. First, the traditional TANOJI type changed into NAKAROUKA and TSUZUKIMA type on modernizing process. Second, Toma is an important space of farmhouse. It is succeeded with the element, which is the possibility of knowing the remnant of traditional element from modern rural house. Third, the cause of changing floor plan is a narrow and small space by growth of children. That is the most factor of changing house deterioration of equipments and necessity of children's space.

Apartment, which have become the major housing style in Korea, have contributed to the development of housing culture as well as achieved a growth in volume. However, the demands and characteristics of residents have not been reflected in the apartment, because it has been developed only for a growth in volume. In this society, housing unit was the first consideration rather than common space. Therefore, a required resident-centered common space is the domestic housing market's necessity. Under this circumstance, this study investigated previous studies on interior design guidelines for common space were analyzed using Murtha and Lee's user benefit criteria which emphasizes humanity. In-depth content analysis was employed in this study. The result showed that four categories of the model were related toward more user-centered residential environment-behavioral facilitation, physiological maintenance, perceptual maintenance, and social facilitation.

Recently, exposed concrete designs have been placed everywhere due to increased interest in indoor residential environments. In addition, in order to overcome the disadvantages of litracon, which was developed by mixing optical fiber, LEFC(Light Emotion Friendly Concrete) was developed in Korea, which improved unit price and constructivity by inserting hard acrylic rods. LEFC, using foaming agent and lightweight aggregate for light weighting, has disadvantages that decrease mechanical properties, and thus improved mechanical properties by using ultra-high performance concrete. Also, due to the characteristics of UHPC materials, it showed excellent self-consolidating performance. Considering these characteristics, a LEFC mold with pattern design was developed. The LEFC blocks were built so that pattern shapes could be seen and these were applied on-site to Sewoon plaza, located in Seoul.

Dome structure to form a space-efficient, applied a lot of beautiful buildings with structural systems, as well as a large space structure in the form of new residential lots have been applied. And domestic demand for housing in the dome with increasing dome house using various materials, are becoming commonplace. But now the Dome House is mainly used in construction steel, wood, stone, FRP construction and building materials per unit area and the high cost, long construction time, energy efficiency, has some disadvantages such as degradation. And structural strength of the structure is weak, the natural ingredients used come from natural damage is so big. In addition, demolition of buildings in trouble when handling the environmental problems has emerged. Recently expanded polystyrene to improve these problems by using the various approaches and research is being attempted and there.
