Residential space has come to maintain a degree of specialization dependent upon the division of space according to function, while roles and functions have either expanded or ceased to exist corresponding to shifts in social values. However, various human behaviors connected to lifestyle habits and values are in fact becoming obsolete. This research will examine the mental, social, and functional aspects of the relationship between residential work spaces in modern homes and the sarangche as well as the communal space of daily and social life of the Chosun Dynasty to enhance the value and function of traditional residential space. As the boundary between family and work blurs with the home office environment of today, we are experiencing a deterioration of health and seeing problems in securing family domain as well as the prolonging of overwork. While the function of the traditional sarangchae encompassed a wider variety of activities than today's homes, the sarangchae achieved an efficient use of space divisions between rooms according to the particular purpose and situation. Accordingly, a reinterpretation of modern residential work space is needed through its connection to the sarangchae with consideration to the philosophy and values of the life of the noble class and the habits of our traditional lifestyle that have previously taken place within the sarangchae in an exterior space.
Architecture is the historical record of a society. Residential culture is one of the cultures, and includes all the living and customs of people living in the current society. In particular, the Native residence has the research value of changing the living culture because it contains the lives of farmers. The residential culture of the Korean-chinese people contains the poor, agricultural, and immigrant life that began as a livelihood. Therefore, residential culture is an important part of the Korean-chinese culture. However, due to population movement and urbanization, the deepening and aging of the rural community caused the destruction of the residential culture, and the residentials that had been vacant for many years were destroyed, and a large number of risky residential reconstructions are underway. At the point of progress from a voluntary personal building culture to a public building culture built by the government, a study on Renovation of dilapidated Building and a more reasonable residential reform plan is needed. Our housing culture should not only improve the living environment of current life, but also inherit the housing culture contained in history.
In recent years, conoeptualizations of the residential crowding phenomena have developed form deterministic approaches to functionalistic ones which emphasize the interaction of environmental , social, and personal variables. The influences of each variables which are believed to mediate the crowding perception have been tested. This study examines the association of the influence of socio-demographic variables, residential setting and previous residential experience with the residential crowding. Futhermore, the residential adoptation behavior in response to the crowding phenomena is analyzed. The results of a survey are as follows; 1)The most important variables which influence residential crowding are the residential setting variables such as the floor space and the measure of persons per room. Also the household income and the family structure influence the residential crowding. No previous residential experience effects were found. 2)The residential adoptation behavior is influenced by sex, age and socio-economic status of the family. Female and the age group of 20s and 30s tend to prefer such alternatives as moving or residential alterations and additions. On the other hand, male and the age group of 40s and 50s tend to prefer staying without nay alternatives or structural family adoptation. The group of higher socio- economic status tend to show higher preference to moving and alterations, and the lower ones tend to stay or take the alternative of the structural family adoptation. Years of education and the family structure do not influence the residential adopation behavior.

This study aimed to explore the life experiences of youth with intellectual disabilities in residential facilities. The residential facilities in this study include large scale residential facilities where many residents live and a group home where a few residents live. This study used a qualitative research method; the youth participants were selected from the recommendations of professional groups, and interviewed using the focus group and individual interview methods. In addition, social workers and parents were interviewed to complement interviews of youth with intellectual disabilities. According to the results, the following main themes were extracted from the experiences of youth with intellectual disabilities who live in residential facilities: 'restricted lives by strict rules', 'limitation of individual lives and choice experiences', 'not being respected' at large scale residential facilities, and 'starting independent living', 'a still hardship of independence', 'a tranquil life like home', 'difficulties of communal living' at the group home. Also, they have common experiences in both types of residential facilities: 'depending on each other', 'missing their family', 'being excluded from peer groups at school', 'not wanting to be known as living at residential facilities'. The implication of this study results are for the policy making, and the actual practices were discussed focusing on their right and well-being.

Unpreparedness of the maintenance regulations is regarded as the main reason for the short life span of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings. This study suggests that the followings should be prepared for the effective maintenance and life prolongation of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings : 1) Standard maintenance regulations for those buildings should be set up, 2) Building maintenance works should be performed by the specialists, like licensed building manager, mechanical and electrical engineers, etc., 3) Long-range repair expenses should be laid by on the monthly base according to the long-range repair plan, 4) Regulations concerning the defect repair should be provided properly.
As a household's residential location is closely related to its workplace and place of education, the urban exodus of city dwellers changes their ways of commuting to workplace and attending school. This paper examines the influence of urban exodus on the change of a way of life through relations between residential location and modes of commuting. Despite moving to the countryside, exurban migrants still want to experience rural health without abandoning the city lifestyle. However, they are faced with various difficulties in commuting to workplace and attending school, because suburban and exurban areas have poor accessibility to the central city. In order to overcome these problems, most of them choose "the residential segmentation of the family" through which the head of the family commutes to the city from his or her family home in exurban areas and children go to school from their second home in the central city, or try "to link commuting to workplace with attending school".
