Understanding the Determinants of Behavioral Intentions towards Adoption of Web 2.0 Tools in Workplaces : An Empirical Study

  • More and more employees are implementing the use of emerging Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, wikis, social networks, etc in workplaces. However, their attitudes towards adoption of Web 2.0 tools in workplaces still lack theoretical support. The purpose of this study aims to provide a conceptual examination of the determinants that influence the intention to use Web 2.0 applications in workplaces in Korea. To achieve this objective, this study selected the theory of reasoned action (TRA) as a theoretical basis to explain variation in behavioral intentions. Structural equation modeling was employed to analyze data collected from 269 workers distributed in 5 companies in Korea. In addition, we classified respondents into extroverts and introverts and delineated the different factors for these two types of respondents that affect their intentions to use Web 2.0 tools in workplaces. The findings of this research could provide a theoretical foundation for academics on the validation of technology adoption. This research will also serve as a guideline for service providers in designing the Web 2.0 services.

  • 비디오 프로토콜 분석은 사람과 사람사이 그리고 사람과 기계사이의 상호작용을 이해하기 위해 디자인과 HCI를 포함한 많은 연구 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있는 효과적인 분석기법이다. 그러나 결과의 효용성에 비해 상당한 양의 시간과 노력이 필요하기 때문에 많은 제약을 가지고 있으며, 최근 각 분야의 특성에 맞춰 이런 분석작업을 손쉽게 하기 위해 일인용 컴퓨터를 기반으로 한 다양한 도구들이 개발되고 있다. 본 논문은 여러 프로젝트 참여자들이 함께 사용 가능한 협력지원 비디오 분석에 대해 살펴본다. 먼저 기존 비디오 분석도구의 문제점들과 함께 협업지원 분석도구의 필요성을 기술하고, 협업지원 비디오분석 도구를 위한 디자인기준을 규명한다. 이러한 기준을 바탕으로 개발한 프로토타입을 제시하고 예비평가를 통해 향후 개발방향에 대해 기술한다.

  • This paper briefly introduces the current status of MPEG Audio Subgroup activities for standardizing a new audio coding technologies. Currently MPEG Audio Subgroup focused on spatial audio coding tools for compressing multiple audio objects and unified coding tools for presenting the consistence performance on speech and audio signal at the same time. Also a new MAF (MPEG Application Format) for interactive music was introduced at the 84th MPEG meeting.

트리즈(TRIZ) 관련 국내 연구 동향 분석 (Analysis of Research Trends on Korea's TRIZ)

  • This study was conducted to identify Korea's TRIZ research trends and to propose implications for setting a direction for future TRIZ research by analyzing TRIZ-related research over the past 15 years, or from 1998 to 2013. The subjects in this study were 256 published studies, including 149 studies in academic journals, 97 master theses, and 10 doctorate theses. This study reached the following conclusion. First, academic journals were the most frequent form of publication of TRIZ-related studies, followed by master's degree theses, and doctorate theses. Second, two or more TRIZ tools were used to solve problems and the most frequently used topic was technical contradiction as the result of frequency analysis for TRIZ research topics. This signified that it was easier to solve problems when various TRIZ tools were used, rather than applying a single TRIZ tool while technical contradiction was considered to be actively used as it allowed the relatively easy understanding of TRIZ. Third, the use of TRIZ research topics had increased and diversified each year. This could be interpreted to be based on the increased understanding of TRIZ. Fourth, case studies and experimental research were the most frequently used methods in TRIZ-related research. This was because various TRIZ tools were applied on problem solving situations, which were directly proposed as the research result. Fifth, the use of TRIZ was increasing in the educational field. Specifically, it was noted that TRIZ was used in creativity education with the use of 40 invention principles in elementary, middle, and high schools.

영아기부터 청소년기까지 국내 수면 연구의 동향분석 (Trends in Sleep Research: From Infancy Through Adolescence)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore research trends in sleep from infancy through to adolescence. To achieve this, an examination was conducted of sleep research published in Korea based on the publication year, developmental stages of the study participants, research designs, measurement tools, and research topics. A total of 362 academic journal articles and theses/dissertations published in Korea up until 2023 were selected. In terms of publication year, the first study was conducted in 1967 and the field became more active from 2010 onwards. The age group studied the most was adolescents, with cross-sectional research being the most common study design. Regarding sleep measurement tools, most scales measuring sleep in infants, preschoolers, children, and adolescents were developed abroad, then adapted or validated in Korea, or were modifications of adult scales tailored for specific studies. Lastly, in terms of research topics, the most common focus was the relationship between sleep and developmental characteristics, particularly its effects on emotional development. Based on these results, future research could focus on developing sleep-related intervention programs and measurement tools.

  • The objective of this research works is to propose a rapid development methodology of small size deep drawing tools for electronic parts utilizing the technology combination of CAE and RP/RT. The technology is applied to the development of deep drawing tools with a drain shape. The final surface of tools is obtained from the evaluation of the formability using the CAE. In order to manufacture the physical prototype of tools fer try-out terming, several fabrication experiments are carried out for three types of rapid tool manufacturing technology. Through the fabrication experiments, the acceptable rapid manufacturing technologies of deep drawing tools with a small size have been proposed.

Design Implications for Teachers' Tools in Differentiated Instruction through Case Studies

  • The diversity of students is getting increased in the contemporary classroom. To deal with the diversity, differentiated instruction (DI) should be considered as a way of providing alternative approaches to content, process and product according to the students' readiness, interest, and learning needs. Teachers have problems and difficulties in supporting different student's needs. In fact, teachers need proven tools including framework, guidelines or computing systems to help to practice DI in real context. According to the activity theory, tools influence on how people act and think and even their social practice, playing a crucial role in mediating the activities with people. In DI practice, there are also some studies about physical and abstract tools, but they have been not widely utilized by teachers in real schools. It means that more innovative tool to promote DI might be required. Therefore, to design a better tool to mediate the DI activities with teacher, case studies were conducted. In order to elicit the design implications, two physical and two abstract tools for DI practice were analyzed as case studies. Through the analysis of the case studies, eight design implications better to facilitate DI practice were suggested. This study has implications in suggesting design guidelines for teachers' tools to facilitate their DI practice by analyzing case studies in DI practices for an innovative tool in the educational practice.

Mixed-Integer Programming based Techniques for Resource Allocation in Underlay Cognitive Radio Networks: A Survey

  • For about the past decade and a half research efforts into cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have increased dramatically. This is because CRN is recognized as a technology that has the potential to squeeze the most out of the existing spectrum and hence virtually increase the effective capacity of a wireless communication system. The resulting increased capacity is still a limited resource and its optimal allocation is a critical requirement in order to realize its full benefits. Allocating these additional resources to the secondary users (SUs) in a CRN is an extremely challenging task and integer programming based optimization tools have to be employed to achieve the goals which include, among several aspects, increasing SUs throughput without interfering with the activities of primary users. The theory of the optimization tools that can be used for resource allocations (RA) in CRN have been well established in the literature; convex programming is one of them, in fact the major one. However when it comes to application and implementation, it is noticed that the practical problems do not fit exactly into the format of well established tools and researchers have to apply approximations of different forms to assist in the process. In this survey paper, the optimization tools that have been applied to RA in CRNs are reviewed. In some instances the limitations of techniques used are pointed out and creative tools developed by researchers to solve the problems are identified. Some ideas of tools to be considered by researchers are suggested, and direction for future research in this area in order to improve on the existing tools are presented.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate measurement properties of self-report questionnaires measuring the social adjustment for youth after treatment of childhood cancer. Methods: Social adjustment measurement tools were identified through a two-stage systematic review. First, we searched for articles using self-report questionnaires to measure the social adjustment of youth after the treatment of childhood cancer. The appropriate tools were listed and categorized. Second, using methodological filters, we searched 5 electronic databases for articles examining the measurement properties of the tools when used with youth after the treatment of childhood cancer. The quality of these papers was then evaluated using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist. Results: Eight tools were frequently used to measure social adjustment. Eight studies investigated the measurement properties of 4 of these tools. The PedsQL 4.0 and MMQL-AF had moderate to strong evidence in some domains, but the rest of the domains had a lack of evidence. The SF-36 and KIDSCREEN-27 were validated for only a few areas. Conclusion: We found a lack of evidence regarding the measurement properties of these tools. More research is required on the measurement properties of tools for use in this population.

프로토콜 개발 도구의 통합 환경 (Integrated Environments of Protocol Development Tools)

  • 정보통신의 발달과 더불어 새로이 제안되는 프로토콜의 크기가 커지고 복잡해짐에 따라 프로토콜 을 개발하는데 자동화 도구들이 필요하게 되었다. 따라서 이들 프로토콜의 개발을 지원하는 자동화 도구를 개발하기 위한 활발하게 진행중이다. 그러나 현재 까지 여러 가지 도구들이 개발되었으나, 이들 도구들은 실험적으로 사용되고 있을 분 이론적 연구성과에 비해 실제 활용도가 낮은 편이다. 또한 지금까지 제안된 도구들은 대부분 개별적으로 개발되어 프로토콜을 개발하는 일련의 과정을 수행하는데 제약이 따른다. 본 논문 에서는 이러한 제약을 해결키 위하여 기존에 개발된 도구들을 효과적으로 통합하여 프로토콜 개발을 위한 각종 도구들의 통합환경을 설계하고 구축하였다. 구축된 통합환경은 프도토콜 개발 과정의 전 사이클을 제공하므로서 자동화를 통한 프로토콜 개발 기간을 단축하고 프로토콜의 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
