  • Age-related problems especially corrosion and fatigue are normally suffered by weatherworn ships and aging offshore structures. The effect of corrosion is one of the important factors in the Common Structural Rule (CSR) guideline of the ship design based on a 20 or 25 years design life. The aim of this research is the clarification of the corrosion effect on ultimate strength of stiffened panels on various types of double hull oil tankers. In the case of ships, corrosion is a phenomenon caused by the ambient environment and it has different characteristics depending on the parts involved. Extensive research considering these characteristic have already done by previous researchers. Based on this data, the ultimate strength behavior of stiffened panels for four double hull oil tankers such as VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax, and Panamax classes are compared and analyzed. By considering hogging and sagging bending moments, the stiffened panels of the deck, inner bottom and outer bottom located far away from neutral axis of ship are assessed. The results of this paper will be useful in evaluating the ultimate strength of an oil tanker subjected to corrosion. These results will be an informative example to check the effect of ultimate strength of a stiffened panel according to corrosion addition from CSR for a given type of ship.

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine the implications of aviation tourism by considering practical and ethical issues in order to achieve academic goals for research ethics. Through this, we intend to derive the direction of research ethics in aviation tourism in the future. Research Design, data and methodology: This study examined ethical issues to examine the current status of research ethics in consideration of the goals of aviation tourism and to analyze and explore the status of research ethics, including various research results and researchers. Results: Aviation tourism is focused on the autonomy of research without strict sanctions. There was a perception that there was no monitoring or control of research ethics, and related scholars did not need to discuss research ethics because the establishment of an academic system was a priority. However, it is now responsible for complying with research ethics limited to integrity and leading research ethics education in domestic aviation tourism. Conclusions: Research ethics problems that may arise in aviation tourism research were explored and issues and tasks were derived. Aviation tourism needs to develop into a more responsible research culture, such as redefining research ethics regulations, changing research culture, and raising researchers' ethical awareness

  • Purpose: Compared to the research results that have achieved remarkable growth, research ethics problems that threaten the quality of research. This issue appears not only in Korea but also in research societies worldwide where research competition has risen This study attempted to prepare improvements and institutional implications to establish research ethics in the research field. Research Design, data and methodology: This study examined total 26 prior studies to examine the current status of aviation tourism research ethics in the literature reviews for the finding section. The procedure of data obtaining included the elimination process to screen dissertation papers, conference papers, and internet sources. Results: Researchers must have an institutional mechanism to publish papers after completing education. Research ethics education programs suitable for aviation tourism research should be developed and detailed and clear guidelines for research ethics should be provided. This can prevent research irregularities. Conclusions: It is necessary to create a clear research ethics education for the spread of positive research ethics on aviation tourism researchers. Develop research ethics education and complete long-term compulsory education. Establish a research culture that requires compulsory completion of research education. It is necessary to support continuous education and learning through various research ethics methods.

  • Gene editing (GE) offers a new breeding technique (NBT) of sustainable value to animal agriculture. There are 3 GE working sites covering 5 feasible pathways to generate GE pigs along with the crucial intervals of GE/genotyping, microinjection/electroporation, induced pluripotent stem cells, somatic cell nuclear transfer, cryopreservation, and nonsurgical embryo transfer. The extension of NBT in the new era of pig breeding depends on the synergistic effect of GE and reproductive biotechnologies; the outcome relies not only on scientific due diligence and operational excellence but also on the feasibility of application on farms to improve sustainability.

  • Objective: The purposes of this research are to analyze former research papers regarding Dream Start according to academic field in an attempt to better understand their services and to present additional directions. Methods: The 66 research papers regarding Dream Start from 2008 to 2020 were analyzed by three categories: welfare, child care(education) and health. In each category, this research analyzed the research papers by year, research type, research subject and the research topic. Results: First, the research papers regarding Dream Start were most actively published between 2010 and 2017 and the number of research papers decreased after 2018. Second, the results regarding the type of study showed that quantitative studies were mostly performed in all, but the detailed methods used mainly differed. Third, the subjects of the study commonly included guardians. Fourth, the research topics were focused on business content, operations, and direction. Conclusion/Implications: Based on these results, welfare, child care(education) and health sectors need to make more efforts for balanced development, and integrated research and longitudinal studies are necessary. Second, further research is needed to enhance the professionalism of teachers and nurses working in the Dream Start. Third, more research is needed for the integration and coordination of resource management.

  • Purpose: Since 2006, social, ethical, and institutional options have been attempted in Korea to establish research ethics; however, the effectiveness of these attempts has not been thoroughly examined. Studies have been conducted abroad to determine the timeliness of social, ethical and institutional alternatives, such as the adoption of laws governing research ethics, the improvement of research ethics education, the bolstering of systems, the introduction of incentive programs, and the creation of social environments that support research ethics. Research design, data, and methodology: Specific facets of research misconduct or research ethics must be investigated and verified. Aspects of moral growth at the person level must be investigated via research ethics and research ethics education. Results: There is an increasing need for the general public to define and uphold research ethics as the impact of research findings on society grows. Researchers can boost their confidence in their ethical judgments and actions by being aware of research ethics. This may lead to confidence in their capacity to make morally sound decisions. Conclusion: By doing this study, the researcher confirmed that ethically correct behavior can lead to and realize self-growth. Researchers may be more interested in and dedicated to their work when they feel that their research might help them mature and develop ethically.

  • In this paper, we present a performance analysis for an MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network communication architecture. The existing on-chip buses of system-on-a-chip (SoC) have some limitation on data traffic bandwidth since a large number of silicon IPs share the bus. An on-chip network is introduced to solve the problem of on-chip buses, in which the concept of a computer network is applied to the communication architecture of SoC. We compared the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network and Advanced Micro-controller Bus Architecture (AMBA) on-chip bus. Experimental results show that the performance of the MPEG-4 video codec based on the on-chip network is improved over 50% compared to the design based on a multi-layer AMBA bus.
