  • This study examines the changing patterns of technological cooperation activities along technological development stages. Based on the longitudinal sample of 58 small and medium-sized companies in telecommunication equipment and device sectors, proposed hypotheses are tested using paired comparison t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Major findings of this study are as follows. Along technological development stages, (1) patterns of technological cooperation activities differ in terms of the extent and diversity of use, partners, method, and motivation and (2) the impact of specific forms of technological cooperation activities on the firm's technological innovation varies. In addition, some managerial and policy implications are presented and future research directions are suggested.

  • The amount of construction waste increased to 176,447 ton/day in 2008 from 28,400 ton/day in 2000, a 6-fold increase in just 10 years. Such dramatic increase in the waste of concrete, asphalt concrete, wood and metals was due to demolition of old buildings as well as a great number of building redevelopment projects and hurried city industrialization. Many buildings targeted for demolition today were built in line with the government policy to provide affordable housing to citizens in the shortest time possible and consequently, said buildings underwent rapid deterioration and required periodic repairs and reconstruction. Based on the above, we predict that construction waste will continue to increase for the foreseeable future. In particular, due to limited availability of suitable space to construct apartments and residential buildings in the city, old buildings are being torn down to make space for new development, further increasing construction waste. In light of that, efforts to recycle as well as reduce generated waste are urgently required.

  • This study were conducted to reveal the awareness and competitiveness of Korean packaging industry in information technology(IT) and e-commerce. For the survey, 114 sample companies were selected representing all packaging materials, equipment and systems, institutes, consulting and trading companies. The trained interviewers spoke to the respondents who were at the position of packaging research and development and were considered knowledgeable about the level of IT in the company. The collected data were analyze in three major categories: IT fundamentals, usages, and company policy. From the results, packaging suppliers were at the very low level of IT fundamentals and uses compared to those of packaging users. The gap between packaging suppliers and users that access the Internet was seriously wide, and this trend was generally due to different size of company. Packaging suppliers were still at the basic level of information-oriented working environment.

  • According to the Policy for ' e-Korea construction ' of Korean government, investment of information system during the Past decay are dramatically increasing. More than a half of this investment is cost of hardware infrastructure. So, accurate hardware sizing are essential for higher efficiency of investment. Accurate hardware sizing benefits are generally viewed in toms of the avoidance of excess equipment and lost opportunity costs by not being able to support business needs. Unfortunately, however, little research effort to make the hardware sizing methodology are doing. We propose a sizing method for information system in public sector. This method is determinated empirical study that are gathering and analyzing cases, making method and reviewing expert. Finally we are proposed calculating method for hardware components that is CPU, memory, internal and external disk according to the application system type which is OLTP, Web, WAS. Our study certainly will act as a catalyst for higher investment-efficiency of the future information programs in public sector.

  • China has increased 10 percent every year since 1978. In particular, development and growth of Chinese ports make a remarkable in that the marine and coastal transportation handles the 90 percent of export-import cargo. This growth is beginning to threaten Korea's ports which are striving to become the hub of Northeast Asia logistics. Furthermore, the hub strategy of Northeast Asia is closely related to transshipment cargo invitation. The results of documents research indicate Busan and Gwangyang ports play an important role as an intermediate stopover between China and America. The ways to achieve transshipment cargo invitation are the construction of transshipment system based on the supply chain between korea and china, the maximization of trading volumes creation, equipment of ports infrastructure, and the constructions of the rail, road, coastal transportation infrastructures.

  • Recently, global competition in the manufacturing sector is driving firms in the manufacturing sector to conduct product innovation projects to maintain their competitive edge. The key points of product innovation projects are 1) what the purpose of the project is and 2) what expected results in the target market can be achieved by implementing the innovation. Therefore, this study focuses on the performance of innovation projects with a business viewpoint. In this respect, this study proposes the "achievement rate" of product innovation projects as a measurement of project performance. Then, this study finds the best strategies from various innovation activities to optimize the achievement rate of product innovation projects. There are three major innovation activities for the projects, including three types of R&D activities: Internal, joint and external R&D, and five types of non-R&D activities - acquisition of machines, equipment and software, purchasing external knowledge, job education and training, market research and design. This study applies decision tree modeling, a kind of data-mining methodology, to explore effective innovation activities. This study employs the data from the 'Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) 2014: Manufacturing Sector.' The KIS 2014 gathered information about innovation activities in the manufacturing sector over three years (2011-2013). This study gives some practical implication for managing the activities. First, innovation activities that increased the achievement rate of product diversification projects included a combination of market research, new product design, and job training. Second, our results show that a combination of internal R&D, job training and training, and market research increases the project achievement most for the replacement of outdated products. Third, new market creation or extension of market share indicates that launching replacement products and continuously upgrading products are most important.

  • Brain-computer interface is (BCI) is a communication device that the brain activity is directly input to the computer without input devices, such as a mouse or keyboard. As the brain wave interface hardware technology evolves, expensive and large EEG equipment has been downsized cheaply. So it will be applied to various multimedia applications. Among BCI studies, we suggest the domestic and foreign research trend about how the BCI is applied about the game almost people use. Next, look at the problems of the game with the BCI, we would like to propose the future direction of domestic BMI research and development.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify health promotion services in rural areas and factors influencing this service. Method: From March to April, 2007, a structured questionnaire on services in 2006 was used to collect data from community health practitioners in all of the Primary Health Care Posts (PHCP) in North Chungchong Province. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 Win program. Results: The most frequently offered programs were health gymnastics, walking exercise, bathing and vaccination service, and hypertension management. The main obstacles to these health services were lack of adequate space, insufficient budget, and overwork. The most frequently offered health education programs were education on hypertension, exercise, diabetes, volunteer work, and smoking cessation. The main obstacles to health education were lack of adequate space, insufficient education materials and equipment, and lack of cooperation from the citizens. Improvement and reinforcement of health promotion programs should include support of specialist, development of appropriate methods of service delivery, and education materials, and increase ease in using community resources. Conclusions: The research results show that a new model of health promotion must be developed for efficient health promotion programs in rural PHCP.

  • Recently innovation cluster has been emphasized as a valid policy measure for innovation. For suggesting a new model of innovation cluster, we conducted literature review for the theories of regional innovation system(RIS) and innovation clusters. As a result, the success factors of innovation cluster were classified into system measures, physical measures, and social(human resources) measures from the perspective of RIS. The case of Gyeonggi province's innovation cluster policy was examined for an empirical analysis. For an in-depth analysis, a survey for the tenant companies in Pangyo technovalley(PTV) was conducted. As a result, it was found that Gyeonggi province's innovation cluster policy is evolving from 'a government-initiated system' to 'the 3rd-generation convergence RIS' and that PTV is closely related to the system measures of 'support for up-to-date management and technology information' and 'support for academic-research-industry cooperative research and technological cooperation,' physical measures of 'strengthening the function of PTV support division' and 'shared research equipment and other infrastructures,' and social measures of 'legal, financial, and administrative support system' and 'public childcare facilities'. Also, technology sector was divided into IT and non-IT for a validity check to find out that there was no significant difference in all factors, except for the public relations factors. This study is expected to provide resources for other related researches.
