  • Recently demands in construction of the stand-alone networks and interconnection between convergence devices have led an increase in research on IETF MANET working group, Bluetooth, and HomeRF working group and much attention has been paid to the application of MANET as a Ubiquitous network which is growing fast. With performance both as hosts and routers, easy network configuration, and fast response, mobile nodes participating in MANET are suitable for Embedded computing, but have vulnerable points, such as lack of network scalability and dynamic network topology due to mobility, passive attacks, active attacks, which make continuous security service impossible. For perfect MANET setting, routing is required which can guarantee security and efficiency through secure routing. In routing in this study, hashed AODV is used to protect from counterfeiting messages by malicious nodes in the course of path 'finding and setting, and disguising misrouted messages as different mobile nodes and inputting them into the network.

  • With the prospect of rapidly growing health insurance expenditures, particularly spending for ambulatory care, the introduction of a case-based payment method is discussed as an alternative to the current fee-for-service based method. A system to measure case mixes of providers is a core component of such payment systems. The objective of this study were to develop a classification system for ambulatory care, Korean Ambulatory Patient Group (KAPG) based on the U.S. APG version 2.0 and to evaluate the classification accuracy of the system. A database of 64,258,386 records was constructed from insurance claims submitted to the Health Insurance Review Agency (HIRA) during three months from August 2002. A total of 41,347,307 records with a single visit was used for the development and 7% random sample of the database was used for the evaluation. Additional groups were defined to include both physician and hospital fees in the classification, age splits were added to classify the entire population as well as the population older than 65, and the definition of medical groups used by the HIRA was adopted. The variance reduction in charges achieved by KAPGs was computed to evaluate the accuracy of classification. A total of 474 KAPGs was defined compare to 290 groups in the U.S. APG. The variance reduction for charges of all visits ranged from 20% to 37% depending on the type of provider, and ranged from 22% to 42% for non-outliers, that were better than those achieved by the system currently used by the .HIRA for its internal review purpose. Although further study is required to improve the classification for complicated care in larger hospitals, the results indicated that KAPGs could be used for better management of costs for ambulatory care.

  • Ubiquitous technology influences on various firms of contents needed for self-healthcare, as it fuses into medical services. Particularly, rapid changes in the web and mobile environment, requiring various sorts of healthcare and its related contents, make efficiency of search more important. Personalized contents needs to be more refined as well as the existing simple keyword-centered searching method needs to be more effective in order to meet both requirements and characteristics of each patient or each user. A precise semantic searching method is required for a system to understand promptly the meaning of a contents. In this respect, to build a healthcare ontology has its own significance. This study builds up a system model that can be utilized practically in existing systems by setting up the Food Class and its sub-class among the healthcare contents with Protege tool and then materializing constraints and its relationships between each class. The healthcare contents ontology provides patients or users with a platform which can search the needed information promptly and precisely.

  • As a hospital environment is reconstructed from supplier-centered values to consumer-centered ones for the existence in the rapidly changing medical market, it can be said that not only must old slogans such as unconditional restructuring, remodelling, etc. be reconsidered, but a new strategy for the development and renovation of a hospital must be urgently required. Accordingly, development of customer-oriented practical strategies is needed and it appears possible to develop marketing and manage contacts, as a practical management strategy, for raising satisfaction of internal and external customers. The ultimate goal of such strategy development may be to ensure consistent potential development by maintenance of existing customers and securing new customers through a strategy of satisfying both existing and new customers. It appears that the competition in the medial will be keener in the future by human resources, members of an organization, Under these circumstances, and in relation to appearance of a new type of occupation of a coordinator, if a hospital could offer appropriate service which can meet the demand of the customers by efficiently utilizing the limited resources through efficient management of contacts between the customers and personnel, the competitive power of a hospital would be much stronger. Therefore, it is necessary to seek customer-impressing management by utilizing a coordinator as a more specialized intermediary as well as many-sided contact management through positive introduction of an expert coordinator system for internal and external customer contact management. It is expected that a hospital can secure a competitive advantage in the market through strategy development supported by an expert coordinator and increasing competitive power by means of practice of a developed creative strategy.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the toxicologic profiles and outcome of poisoned patients by comparing the data obtained through telephone counselling, each provided by emergency medical information center (1339) and emergency dispatch center (119). Methods: We analyzed the telephone-based poison exposure data before and after Seoul 1339 merged to 119. We compared the Seoul 1339 call response data in 2008 with Seoul and Busan 119 call response data between 2014 and 2016. We analyzed the changes in the trend and quality of data obtained, as well as the quality of service provided by each center before and after this reallocation, by comparing the data each obtained through telephone counselling. Results: The data was collected for a total of 2260 toxin exposure related calls made to Seoul 1339 in 2009, and 1657 calls to 119 in Seoul and Busan between 2014 and 2016. Significant difference was observed for age, sex, and reason for exposure to toxic substance between the two groups. Conclusion: After the integration of 1339 with 119, 119 focused on role of field dispatch and hospital transfer, lacking the consulting on drug poisoning. Moreover, data on exposure to toxic substances at the pre-hospital stage indicate that drug information and counseling are missing or unknown. In addition, first aid or follow-up instructions are not provided. Thus, systematic approach and management are required.

  • Recently, embedded systems have been introduced in various fields such as smart factories, industrial drones, and medical robots. Since sensor data collection and IoT functions for machine learning and big data processing are essential in embedded systems, it is essential to port the operating system that is suitable for the function requirements. However, in embedded systems, it is necessary to separate the hard real-time system, which must process within a fixed time according to service characteristics, and the flexible real-time system, which is more flexible in processing time. It is difficult to port the operating system to a low-performance embedded device such as 8BIT MCU to perform simultaneous real-time. When porting a real-time OS (RTOS) to a low-specification MCU and performing a number of tasks, the performance of the real-time and general processing greatly deteriorates, causing a problem of re-designing the hardware and software if a hard real-time system is required for an operating system ported to a low-performance MCU such as an 8BIT MCU. Research on the technology that can process real-time processing system requirements on RTOS (ported in low-performance MCU) is needed.

  • Background: This study investigated the longitudinal associations between the degrees of positive and negative spillover in work-life balance (WLB) at baseline and reports of depressive mood at a 2-year follow-up in Korean women employees. Methods: We used a panel study design data of 1386 women employees who participated in the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families in both 2014 and 2016. Depressive mood was measured using the "10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale." Associations between the positive and negative spillover in WLB at baseline and reports of new incidence of depressive mood at 2-year follow-up were explored using a multivariate logistic regression model. Results: Negative spillover in WLB at baseline showed a significant linear association with reports of depressive mood at 2-yearfollow-up after adjusting for age, education level, marital status, number of children, and positive spillover (P = 0.014). The highest scoring group in negative spillover (fourth quartile) showed a significant higher odds ratio of 1.95 compared with the lowest scoring group (first quartile; P = 0.036). Conclusion: Positive spillover in WLB showed a U-shaped association with depression. The degrees of positive and negative spillover in WLB among Korean women employees at baseline were associated with new incidence of depressive mood within 2 years. To prevent depression of female workers, more discrete and differentiated policies on how to maintain healthy WLB are required.
