Comparative Analysis of Repetitive Elements of Imprinting Genes Reveals Eleven Candidate Imprinting Genes in Cattle

  • Few studies have reported the existence of imprinted genes in cattle compared to the human and mouse. Genomic imprinting is expressed in monoallelic form and it depends on a single parent-specific form of the allele. Comparative analysis of mammals other than the human is a valuable tool for explaining the genomic basis of imprinted genes. In this study, we investigated 34 common imprinted genes in the human and mouse as well as 35 known non-imprinted genes in the human. We found short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs), long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs), and long terminal repeats (LTRs) in imprinted (human and mouse) and control (cattle) genes. Pair-wise comparisons for the three species were conducted using SINEs, LINEs, and LTRs. We also calculated 95% confidence intervals of frequencies of repetitive sequences for the three species. As a result, most genes had a similar interval between species. We found 11 genes with conserved SINEs, LINEs, and LTRs in the human, mouse, and cattle. In conclusion, eleven genes (CALCR, Grb10, HTR2A, KCNK9, Kcnq1, MEST, OSBPL5, PPP1R9A, Sgce, SLC22A18, and UBE3A) were identified as candidate imprinted genes in cattle.

반복적인 수작업이 상지 고유수용성 감각 및 기민성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Repetitive Hand Task on Upper Extremity Proprioception and Dexterity)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of repetitive hand task on upper extremity proprioception and dexterity. Methods : Experimental group who had done hand task since last 1 year and young adult control group was recruited this study. Proprioception was measured positioning errors of elbow and wrist on three dimensional coordinate system by Winarm software(Zebris Medcal GmbH, Germany). And dexterity was measured by box and block test. Statistical analysis was used independent t -test. Results : When elbow moved from flexion to extension, there were significant difference on error of x axis in wrist location and erros of x, z axis in shoulder location(p<.05). When wrist moved from flexion to extension, there was significant difference on y axis in finger location error(p<.05). And there significant difference on dexterity(p<.05). Conclusion : In conclusion, repetitive hand task increase upper extremity proprioception and dexterity. The physical therapy in industrial workers should inhibit overuse injury.

Detection of Mycobacterium leprae by Real-time PCR Targeting Mycobacterium leprae-Specific Repetitive Element Sequence

  • Mycobacterium leprae detection is difficult even with molecular biological techniques due to the low sensitivity of current methodologies. In this report, real-time PCR targeting the M. leprae-specific repetitive element (RLEP) sequence was developed as a new diagnostic tool and evaluated using clinical specimens. For this, M. leprae DNAs were extracted from skin biopsy specimens from 80 patients and analyzed by real-time PCR using TaqMan probe. Then, the detection efficiency of the real-time PCR was compared with that of standard PCR. In brief, the rate of positive detection by the standard PCR and real-time PCR was 32.50% and 66.25%, respectively. The results seemed to clearly show that the TaqMan real-time PCR developed in this study may be a useful tool for sensitive detection of M. leprae from clinical specimens.

자세 조절 운동이 심장이식환자의 심박수 상승지연에 미치는 영향 -단일사례연구- (Effects of Postural Control Exercise on the Delayed Heart Rate Increase in Heart Transplant Patients -A Case Study-)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of postural control exercise on the delayed heart rate increase in heart transplant patients. Methods: The subject was a female heart transplant recipient who had a delayed increase in heart rate during exercise. The intensity of exercise was performed at MBorg level 4. The A-B-A' and A-B-A'-B' designs were used to identify the changes in heart rate during active-assisted exercise, lower limb postural control exercise, and upper limb postural control exercise. Experiments were performed for four weeks. The heart rates at pre- and post-exercise were compared, and the time to reach MBorg 4 was measured. Results: In the active-assisted exercise, the average heart rates at pre- and post-exercise and after 10 min of exercise were 88, 89, and 87.7 bpm, respectively. In the repetitive comparison of pre- and post-exercise in the lower limb postural control exercise, the difference in the mean heart rate was 3.5 and 3 bpm in stable support and 14 and 14.5 bpm in unstable support, respectively. In the repetitive comparison of pre- and post-exercise in the upper limb postural control exercise, the difference in the mean heart rate was 6 and 4 bpm in stable support and 4 and 4.5 bpm in unstable support. The time required to reach MBorg 4 was short when both the upper and lower postural control exercises were performed in an unstable state. Conclusion: We suggest that combining proper postural control exercise with strength exercise and aerobic exercise, among others, may be effective in rehabilitating patients in the recovery stage after a heart transplant.

  • 플라스틱 사출물의 불량 감소 및 사이클 타임 축소를 통한 생산성 향상은 사출업계의 오랜 숙원 사항이다. 특히 중국 등 후발 주자의 추격과 좁혀지지 않는 독일, 일본과의 기술격차 사이에 끼어 있는 국내 사출업계에게 생산성 향상은 매우 절실하다. 30여년 국내 사출업계의 연구와 경험을 통해 금형 내 사출물 표면 온도 제어가 품질 관리의 핵심임을 알게 되었고 PID 제어 등 고급제어 기법을 활용한 다양한 시도가 있었으나 독일, 일본의 유수 업체의 생산성에는 아직 부족하다. 이에 근사알고리즘 중 "Knapsack"개념과 "Minimum Makespan Scheduling"기법을 활용하여 PID 제어로 풀기 어려운 수렴하지 않고 주기적인 반복 데이터 패턴을 지닌 대상을 효율적으로 제어할 수 있는 방법을 소개하고 또한 실제 사출 현장에서 추출한 데이터 분석으로 사출품의 생산성 향상에 근사알고리즘을 이용한 제어가 충분히 효과적임을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) can inject or absorb real and reactive power to or from a power system at a very fast rate on a repetitive basis. These characteristics make the application of SMES ideal for transmission grid control and stability enhancement. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the SMES model and scheme to control the active and reactive power through the power electronic device.

골신장술시 반복적인 압축과 신장 방법이 골형성에 미치는 영향 (THE EFFECT OF REPETITIVE DISTRACTION AND COMPRESSION ON NEW BONE FORMATION DURING DISTRACTION)

  • Purpose: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of repetitive distraction and compression on new bone formation during distraction period. Materials and methods: Sixteen healthy rabbits, weighing about 2.5kg, were used in this experiment. A unilateral mandibular osteotomy was performed in the left mandible and the distractor(Track 1 $plus^{(R)}$, Gebruder Martin $GmbH^{(R)}$, Germany) was fixed with four screws (Cross driver screw $TI^{(R)}$, Gebruder Martin $GmbH^{(R)}$, Germany). After 4 days, the mandibles were distracted at a rate of 0.6mm/day for 10 days to obtain the amount of 6mm distraction in the control group(n=4). In the experimental group A(n=6), they were distracted at a rate of 1.2mm/day for 5 days and then compression of 0.6mm length and distraction of 0.6mm per 12 hours were carried out as counter direction for 5 days, relatively. In the experimental group B(n=6), distraction of 1.2mm length and compression of 0.6mm length per 12 hours were repeated for 10 days to obtain the amount of 6mm distraction finally. The experimental animals were sacrificed at 2 and 4 weeks after surgery and block specimens were obtained. With histologic and histomorphometric analysis, we observed the histologic changes of the cells and bone formation after H-E and Masson- Trichrome staining and then, measured Bone Deposition Rate with TOMORO $ScopeEye^{TM}$ ver. 3.5(Olympus, Japan), Results: Histologically, new bone formation was examined in all experimental groups and the control. But, the ability of bone formation of the experimental group A was somewhat better than any other groups. On the histomorphometric analysis, Bone Deposition Rate was higher in the experimental group A$(50.67{\pm}4.36%)$ than in the control group$(45.94{\pm}3.97%)$ and in the experimental group B$(42.68{\pm}5.70%)$. These data showed significant differences statistically(p<0.05). Conclusion: These results show that the distraction osteogenesis using repetitive compression and distraction force in the early consolidation period may be effective for new bone formation.

경쟁 기반 MAC에서의 반복적 톤 기반 경쟁 기법 (Tone-Based Access Scheme with Repetitive Contention in Contention-Based Medium Access Control)

  • IEEE 802.11의 DCF는 경쟁 기반 방식으로 폴링 기반 방식의 PCF에 비해 알고리즘이 단순하고 나쁘지 않은 성능을 보여주기 때문에 실질적으로 많이 쓰이고 있다. 하지만 DCF는 경쟁을 통하여 채널을 할당받기 때문에 데이터 전송 시에 다른 노드들과 충돌의 위험이 있다. 이러한 충돌을 줄이기 위해서 CSMA/CA의 충돌 회피 방식을 사용하지만 그 성능에는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 톤을 사용한 새로운 경쟁 기법 TAR(Tone-based Access scheme with Repetitive contention)를 제안한다. TAR에서는 데이터 전송 채널(data transmission channel)외에도 적은 구간의 경쟁 채널(contention channel)을 두어 데이터 전송과 경쟁을 병렬적으로 처리함으로써 기존의 CSMA/CA가 가지고 있는 충돌에 대한 문제를 줄이고자 하였다. 경쟁 기법의 큰 개념은 기존의 CSMA/CA 기법을 이용하지만 경쟁 채널이라는 개념을 도입하여 반복적인 경쟁을 통해 데이터 전송 채널에서의 충돌 확률을 크게 줄이는 장점이 있다. 제안한 TAR 기법은 모의실험을 통해 기존의 기법에 비해 크게 좋은 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

The Effects of Repetitive Sit-to-Stand Training with a Paretic-side Asymmetrical Foot Position on the Balance of Chronic Stroke Subjects

  • Purpose: This study aimed to improve the asymmetrical weight-bearing ratio, by applying different repetitive sit-to-stand training methods to the paretic-side foot of hemiplegic patients, as well as to provide the necessary information for applying balance training with hemiplegic patients. Methods: The subjects were divided into two groups: a spontaneous foot group and an asymmetrical foot group. They all performed repetitive sit-to-stand training five times a week for a total of six weeks. The sit-to-standing movement was studied using standardized clinical tests. The Biodex Balance System, Time up and go test (TUG), 5 times sit-to-stand test (5XSST), and functional reach test (FRT) were used to measure the static and dynamic standing balance of the patients. Results: In the balance system measurement, the results for the overall index, ant-post index, med-lat index, fall risk index, 5XSST, and FRT after the training differed significantly between the comparison groups (p<0.05). In the evaluation of dynamic balance, the differences in TUG did not differ significantly between the comparison groups after the training (p>0.05). Conclusion: The study found that the asymmetrical group showed significant increases in static and dynamic balance in comparison to the spontaneous group after repetitive sit-to-stand training. Based on this result, it is clear that training in an asymmetrical position with the paretic foot back can increase the left-right stability limit and the anterior-posterior stability limit, thus improving balance control.

사물인터넷 시스템을 위한 저전력 반복 깨우기 기법 (Low-Power-Consumption Repetitive Wake-up Scheme for IoT Systems)

  • 사물인터넷 시스템에서 배터리로 동작하는 사물인터넷 장치는 저전력 소모가 필수이다. 일반적으로 사물인터넷 장치들은 주기적으로 수면 상태에 진입하여 전력 소모를 줄인다. 하지만 비동기 사용자 요구 환경에서는 응답시간을 줄이기 위해 듀티 사이클을 줄여야 하므로 전력 소모 절감 효과가 줄어든다. 본 논문에서는 실내 전등 제어와 같은 비동기 제어가 필요한 환경에서도 장치의 전력 소모 절감 효과를 높일 수 있는 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 반복 깨우기(repetitive wake-up) 기법은 스마트폰에서 깨우기 신호를 반복적으로 전송하고 사물인터넷 장치는 듀티 사이클을 최소화함으로써 전력 소모를 줄일 수 있다. 스마트폰 앱과 사물인터넷 장치를 구현하고 실험을 통해 제안하는 반복 깨우기 기법이 기존의 동기적 수면/활동 기법보다 최대 5배 이상 전력 소모를 줄일 수 있음을 보였다.
