50 year-old masonry buildings which had been constructed using lime mortar have caused lots of problems because of using different material, cement mortar, when they repair them. Also, there is little information on structural capacities and details of masonry buildings built using lime mortar. In addition, it is difficult to evaluate the structural capacities of the buildings which were often constructed by untrained labors. To preserve the original masonry construction, the study on their construction materials and methodologies has to be carried out. This paper provides basic information for establishing standard details of masonry works using lime mortar in order to overcome these problems when cultural properties are repaired or retrofitted. To do this, compression tests of lime mortar were preformed with the parameters of mixing ratios, mixing material, curing time and curing conditions etc. Based on the test results, the differences between lime mortar and cement mortar were specified and the structural characteristics of lime mortar were also presented in this paper.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash on the repaired mortar based on a polymer. The main parameters are the curing temperature and replacement levels of grinded fly-ash. The curing temperature and the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash are varied at $40^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $5^{\circ}C$, and between 0% and 35% of the total binder by weight, respectively. The flow in fresh mortar and compressive strengths according to ages, the relationship of stress-strain, elastic modulus and modulus rupture in hardened mortar, as well as scanning the electron microscopy and the X-ray diffraction of mortar, were measured, respectively. The test results showed that the flow, elastic modulus and modulus rupture are great in mortar specimens with 20~30% of the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash. In addition, compressive strengths according to ages were affected by the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash and the curing temperature indicated that the strength development ratio of mortar with 20% of the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash was greater than others. In the prediction of the compressive strength specified by the ACI 209 code, the strength development at an early and late age can be generalized by the functions of the replacement levels of grinded fly-ash and the curing temperature. In the analysis of scanning the electron microscopy and the X-ray diffraction, the number and intensity of peaks increased and the form of CSH gels on the surface of the particle of grinded fly-ash was observed.
Even though the cost associated with the repair and rehabilitation of existing structures are rapidly increasing, vast number of the repaired and rehabilitated structures do not function properly as expected during their remaining service lives. This paper focused on the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete slabs repaired and reinforced by PS strand and polymer mortar in the tension face. The slabs have the size of 700${\times}120{\times}$2200 m and 700${\times}120{\times}$1300 mm. Variables of experiment were space of strengthening, chipping, the number of strand, the kind of mortar in this experimental study. Attention is concentrated upon overall bending capacity, deflection, ductility and failure mode of repaired and reinforced slabs. Test results show that deflection of repaired and reinforced slabs reduced to approximately $40 \%$ comparison to standard slabs. Boundary cracking of chipping slab started ultimate load afterward. Concrete-mortar interface cracked 64.5 kN in repaired slab with AP mortar and 36.0 kN in repaired slab with general polymer mortar. Reinforcement effect increased with reducing space of strand. Also, Reinforcement effects are more by strand than by polymer mortar.

This paper is to evaluate practically the techniques and materials of repair for RC elements with fire damages as well as to investigate the structural behavior of RC beams according to pre- or post-repair after fire-damages. For this purpose, normal concrete flexural specimens were exposed to high temperatures by the ISO 834 specification. After natural cooling and post-fire-curing in a natural environment for 2 months, the specimens were repaired with polymer cement mortar for 1 month curing.

In this study, the compressive strength and water contact angle were measured before and after surface abrasion of mortar specimens prepared by mixing two types of water repellents and two types of sands. In addition, the hydration products and chemical bonding of cement mortar by repellent were examined using X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) to evaluate the performance of these cement mortar mixtures as repair materials. We found that the compressive strength of the cement mortar with water repellent added was decreased compared to that of the plain cement mortar, and that of the oligomeric system was higher than that of the monomeric system. We further found that the contact angle of mortar with water repellent added was increased compared to that of the plain cement mortar, and that of the oligomeric system was increased compared to that of the monomer.

In this paper, the effects of aggregate and curing temperature on strength development characteristics of UP (Unsaturated Polyester)-MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) based polymer mortar under sub-zero temperature are experimentally investigated to provide a criterion for repair and production of precast products. The result showed that the setting time of the binder was 4 minutes at $20^{\circ}C$ whereas 35 minutes at $-20^{\circ}C$. The result also revealed that the compressive, flexural, and splitting tensile strengths of UP-MMA based polymer mortar significantly decreased as the aggregate and curing temperatures decreased. However, sufficient strengths which can be implemented in actual practices -36.6 MPa of compressive strength, 6.11 MPa of flexural strength, and 5.81 MPa of splitting tensile strength - were obtained even though both aggregate and curing temperatures were $-20^{\circ}C$. Strength development of polymer mortar is largely affected by curing temperature rather than aggregate temperature. It was found that the effects of aggregate temperature on strength development become smaller as the curing temperature becomes lower. Also, toughness, a ratio of compressive strength to flexural strength, increased from 3.5 to 5.9 as both aggregate and curing temperatures decreased from $20^{\circ}C$ to $-20^{\circ}C$.

The reinforced concrete structures have been deteriorated for various causes since it serviced for the long time. If we have to service concrete structure long time, we must repair it using appropriate methods and materials. But the data which evaluate the repair material has not been sufficient. So, the aim of this research is to estimate properties of repair materials and to acquire the data which apply to the concrete structures in field. To accomplish this objective, we have made experiment on compressive strength, bond strength, the coefficient of thermal expansion and setting time. Generally, compressive strength and bond strength are favorable but some products are unfavorable under wet curing. Setting time was faster than ordinary portland cement mortar except one material.

Recently, the damaged concrete structures are often strengthened or repaired using the polymer concrete or the polymer cement mortar. In the repaired concrete structures at early ages, internal stresses could be developed due to the differential drying shrinkage of the repair material. Due to the difference of the thermal coefficients of the repair material and existing concrete, additional stresses also could be developed as the structures are subjected to the ambient temperature changes. Theses environmentally-induced stresses can sometimes be large enough to cause damage to the structures, such as debonding of the interface between the two materials. In this study, a rational procedure was developed where anchors can be designed and installed to prevent damages in such structures by thermally-induced stresses. Finally, through the experimental and numerical study, the effects of the repair method using anchors with debonding was investigated and discussed the results.

The Purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength characteristics of polyurethane(PUR) mortar cured under low temperature condition. PUR mortars are prepared with various catalyst content, methylene chloride(MC) content as a viscosity reducing agent, and curing age at low temperature condition of $0^{\circ}C$, -5$^{\circ}C$ and -1$0^{\circ}C$, tested for working life, compressive and flexural strengths. From the test results, the catalyst and MC contents affect the degree of hardening and blowing of PUR mortar. Strengths increase with an increasing catalyst content at low temperature. Flexural and compressive strength of PUR mortar are about 177kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 490kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively at curing temperature of -1$0^{\circ}C$ with catalyst content of 0.4%. Therefore, it is apparent that this PUR mortars have a sufficient strengths for repair of concrete structures.

The growth in concrete structure repair has prompted major efforts to develop high early strength concrete. So, we were examined fundamental properties of cement mortar using the ordinary portland cement with rapid-setting cement. The experiments were carried out to investigate the characteristics of rapid-setting cement according to the blended ratio. The containing ratio of rapid-setting cement were changed five steps (20, 30, 50, 70, 100%) and then the flow value, setting time, compressive and bond strength test of cement mortar with RSC were investigated in this study.
