We propose and execute an introductory engineering course for investigating the history of technology and the philosophy of technology. Soft engineering, to explore proper technology and appropriate ways of exercising engineering, has been explored. Creative cases for technology are presented following the most creative, successful periods-the ancient greece, the Renaissance and Silicon Valley era. Ancient greek technology has been investigated in terms of "techne" with the origin of technology and/or art, and their equivalences. The Renaissance period has been investigated in terms of "Uomo universale (polymath)" with Firenze geniuses. The successful drives for the Silicon Valley creativeness have been investigated following "entrepreneurship". To overcome the difficult goal to grasp course subject-technology issues, we take a stance as a tourist guide and tourists utilizing offline onsite experiences and online informations. Categorized course materials are surveyed at the beginning of each period and presented following the preferences of the students to maintain the students' interests. Team efforts including group discussions and project executions have been encouraged to seek the aspects of creativeness and/or technology. This paper summarizes the 3-lecture experiences over 2 years for Korean students and/or foreign students conducted at Pusan National University.
The formative exaggeration phenomenon, which makes the plastic space, escaping from the form peculiar to the human body, is being developed into the more diversified and abstract structure. This study analyzed the form and shape of costumes with objective attitude through the use of an oppositional concept method, which Delong presented from the formative viewpoint. Delong's theory, which was presented in this study, can be said to be one index that analyzed the form and shape of costumes. The costumes of the Renaissance Era, in which formative exaggeration is remarkable, are determinate in that they are closed and static, and can be classified into part, planer separation, and flat. The costumes of the Baroque and Rococo Eras are divided into similar formative perspectives, and can be said to be open, whole, and integrated due to indeterminate and diverse decorations. Entering modern times, the formative-exaggeration phenomenon in costumes of the Romantic Era are characterized by closed, part, and planer separation similar to costumes of the Renaissance Era. However, in the aspect of sleeve design and decoration, the characteristics of determinate and indeterminate were considered.

There have been many unbalanced attempts to break the rules with Renaissance movement which connects with the past in the current art. And From the latter half of Twenty century to the early half of twenty one century, the common sense of fashion is turned over by(unthinkable fashion). First of all, this paper make research of original language of mannerism and unthinkable apparence. Second, appearances of mannerism fashion and unthinkable fashion which are taken from reference books and pictures. Third, Gathering methods which express own style between two periods in the end part of research. As a result, Although Mannerism isn't practical for the visual and new pleasure, and neglect humanism of Renaissance, It is a tendency which is willing to change the flow of prevailing mode, and to reflect asking of people each periods. Mannerism and unthinkable fashion is apparence of society to refresh own feeling. And then, Mannerism and unthinkable fashion is a new challenge to escape from fixed thought.
This research was analyzed regarding comparing features of expressions between clothes in movie, , and cyber clothes that were made by Marvelous Designer2 which is a design CAD. This research was studied to experiment an expressing possibility of clothes simulation software which was developed currently. Therefore, we picked clothes that are good at movement and detail in the movie. The dress theory of the renaissance which is the period background of movie, was considered and studied as pattern, silhouette, material, color, detail and animation. The movie's dresses are made with 3D virtual and compared so 3D virtual clothes's benefits and weaknesses can be analyzed. As a result, we found that 3D virtual dress can show the real movie's feature accordingly with current developed IT standard. This will assist a development in fashion industry and become a new indicator for 3D movie clothing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate Renaissance wall-covering fabrics through Flemish paintings, that provides the details of the origin and development of background of modern wallcovering. The methods of the study are as follows. First, the background of textile development of Flanders in the 14th to 16th centuries were examined through a prior study. Second, the shape and use of wallcoverings in paintings painted during that time were analyzed and the process of changing to modern forms was studied. The residential environment with many stone buildings in relatively humid and cold weather created a need for decorative fabrics. Back then, the wool and flax fabric were not allowed to be worn on the body, so the materials were used for the development of interior fabrics. The characteristics of wall covering in Flemish paint can be summarized with movable, allegory, and decoration. Movable stems from the arrival of the emerging aristocrats of Flanders, who had enormous commercial trade and carried decorative fabrics; the mobility has become an allegory in reality as the royal and aristocratic use of wall-decorated fabrics is the symbol of authority. In addition, unlike Italy, where silk was procured from the East, fabrics manufactured using flax and wool were not suitable for clothing in terms of religion and practicality and were used to decorate walls.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetic factors in color combinations of house exteriors in hillside villages, Busan. The so-called 'Hillside renaissance' is a representative urban regeneration project in Busan. The towns in hillside area in Busan have developed colorful sceneries. But all the colorful sceneries are not the same. Each town has own color characters and different aesthetic color effects. This study is to determine the unique aesthetic components in color combination of Gamcheon and Daecheong. This study is based on the traditional color harmony theories. The analysis focuses, inter alia, on Moon-Spencer's 'Aesthetic Measure'. A house exterior color has relations with two neighboring colors in array. And those three colors with next two houses have again each three hue, value and chroma relations. This analysis is first to determine whether each sample color combination is harmonized, and if harmonized, next step to list which aesthetic factor is dominantly contributing to color harmony. And at last, to study the subcategorized sectors of each color components of the hue, value and chroma.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of theory of Cusanus on the Leonardo's theory of the centralized plan. In Renaissance, Neo-Platonism was so popular that is wat influenced nearly every architecture, literature, painting, sculpture and so on. Theory of Neo-Platonism was so various that every Neo-Platonist had his own theory. Among them, Cusanus focused his theory on rationality, mathematics rather than the medieval symbolism and studied the relationship between the God and men. In the same age, Leonardo da Vinci studied the planning system influenced on many architects works, including Bramante s. His planning system came not from symbolic appearance but from his scientific and rational researches as the theory of Cusanus. This study is to compare Cusanus Neo-Platonism theory and artistie view shown in Leonardo da Vinci's memorandum and drawing and to ascertain the influential relationship, abstracting the common things, and to substitute the characteristics that are seen in his centralized space sketch, abstracting the key words. The study on Cusanus will take advantage of the issued books and will requote Cusanus's copied ones.
The purpose of this study is to examine symbolic meanings of costumes shown by portraits of King Henry VIII and use them as basic data for research on costume design of historical dramas in the Renaissance or on King Henry VIII's costume. This study attempted analysis of symbolic meanings from the paintings-related various domestic and overseas literatures, preliminary study paper, and web sites etc. The symbolic meanings expressed by the portraits of King Henry VIII are characterized by authority, innovation performance, authority, masculinity, innovation performance, artistic taste, intellectual charm, intrepidity and benevolence. Especially, the portraits of King Henry VIII symbolized his masculine beauty by emphasizing sexual attractiveness that cannot be seen in portraits of other kings through broad shoulders and exaggerated codpiece which are the zenith of masculine beauty during the Renaissance age. Through the image of King Henry VIII which was painted with jester or barber surgeons, his characteristic and open mind thinking highly of the technique and human life was also expressed. In the portrait of King Henry VIII, various images set in knights' tournament, playing a musical instrument and reading a book as well as the image of wearing a parliament costume were shown, highlighting King Henry VIII as a person good at both literary and martial arts with open and innovative personality than any other kings in history.
The renaissance architects had considered perspective system as accurate tool for the visual representation, but Palladio did not agree with this belief and demonstrated that it is a system based on optical illusionism. On the base of this faith, he created another optical illusion system can be called 'scenographic space'. But the remainder of his works reveals many perspective installations mobilized as well as it. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the meaning and usage of these two space composition systems in the Palladio's architecture. For the purpose of it, a preliminary study examine the background of his idea and make a comparative analysis between the two systems, and then finally analyze the concrete works in compliance with the building types. And then, this study comes to the following conclusion. The scenographic space create the cognition of discontinuity which was produced by the perceptual mask perpendicular to the subject's eye. In opposition to it, the perspective techniques join the space between the subject and his outer world. In result, the viewer lost or attach his attention on the connection between the real and the virtual, the secular and the divine, and the inside and the outside. Palladio applied these two illusion systems to all types of his architecture. By means of it, he could achieve the desire of his patrons and reconstruct the classical architecture of the late renaissance age.
