Nitrogen oxides (NOx; NO and NO2) are major air pollutants and can cause harmful effects on the human body. Electron Beam Flue Gas Treatment (EBFGT) is a technology that generates electrons with an energy of 0.5-1 MeV using electron accelerators and effectively processes exhaust gases. In this study, NOx was removed using an electron beam accelerator with spraying additives (NaOH and NH4OH). NO and NO2 were 100% and more than 94% removed, respectively, at an electron beam absorbed dose of 20 kGy and an additive concentration of 0.02 M (mol/L). In most cases, NOx was removed better with lower initial NOx concentrations and higher electron beam absorbed doses. As the irradiation strength (mA) of the electron beam increases, the probability of electron impact on the material accordingly rises, which may lead to increase removal efficiency. The results of the present study show that the continuous electron beam process using additives achieved more effective removal efficiency than either individual process (wet-scrubbing or EB irradiation only).

The effects of the applied current density, the $AgNO_3$ concentration, the scrubbing liquid flow rate and the NO-air mixed gas flow rate on the NO removal efficiency were investigated by using $Ag^{2+}$ mediated electrochemical oxidation (MEO). Results showed that the NO removal efficiency increased with increasing the applied current density. The effect of the $AgNO_3$ concentration on the NO removal efficiency was negligibly small in the concentration of $AgNO_3$ above 0.1 M. When the scrubbing liquid flow rate increased, the NO removal efficiency was gradually increased. On the other hands, the NO removal efficiency decreased with increasing the NO-air mixed gas flow rate. As a result of the treatment of NO-air mixed gas by using the MEO process with the optimum operating condition and the chemical absorption process using 3 M $HNO_3$ solution as a scrubbing liquid, the removal efficiency of NO and $NO_x$ was achieved as 95% and 63%, respectively.

In this experiment, an attempt to use the sludge pellets as catalyst for NO removal from simulated gas is experimentally investigated by using cylinder type reactor. An experimental investigation has been conducted for NO concentration of 50[ppm], 100[ppm], 200[ppm] balanced with air. a gas flow rate of 5[1/min]. Cylinder type reactor is at upstream of system for corona discharge and packed bed type reactor filled with sludge pellets ate put at downstream of Cylinder type reactor for catalystic effect. And AC voltage to discharge the gases was supplied. In the result, NO removal with magnetic field is higher than that without magnetic field, when packed-bed reactor with sludge pellet is installed at downstream of cylinder reactor NO, $NO_2$ removal rate increased and $O_3$ is not generated.
In this paper, we investigated the post-combustion removal of nitrogen oxide($NO_x$) and sulfur oxide($SO_x$) which is based on the gas to particle conversion process by the pulsed corona discharge. Under normal pressure, the pulsed corona discharge produces the energetic free electrons which dissociate gas molecules to form the active radicals. These radicals cause the chemical reactions that convert $SO_x$ and $NO_x$ into acid mists and these mists react with $NH_3$ to form solid particles. Those particles can be removed from the gas stream by conventional devices such as electrostatic precipitator or bag filter. The reactor geometry was coaxial with an inner wire discharge electrode and an outer ground electrode wrapped on a glass tube. The simulated flue gas with $SO_x$ and $NO_x$ was used in the experiment. The corona discharge reactor was more efficient in removing $SO_x$ and $NO_x$ by adding $NH_3$ and $H_2O$ in the gas stream. We also measured the removal efficiency of $SO_x$ and $NO_x$ in a cylinder type corona discharge reactor and obtained more than 90 % of removal efficiency in these experimental conditions. The effects of process variables such as the inlet concentrations of $SO_x$, $NH_3$ and $H_2O$, residence time, pulse frequencies and applied voltages were investigated.

In this experiment, an attempt to use the sludge pellets as catalyst for NO removal from simulated gas is experimentally investigated by using $BaTiO_3$-sludge packed-bed reactor of plate-plate geometry. An experimental investigation has been conducted for NO concentration of 50[ppm] balanced with air, a gas flow rate of 5[1/min]. $BaTiO_3$ pellets are filled at upstream of reactor for corona discharge and sludge pellets are put at downstream of reactor for catalystic effect. The volume rate of sludge pellets to $BaTiO_3$ pellets is 50[%] and AC voltage to dischare the gases was supplied. In the result, when sludge pellets is seperated to $BaTiO_3$ by other reactor and AC voltage is supplied to $BaTiO_3$ and sludge pellets NO, $NO_2$ removal rate is higher. When gas temperature increase from room temperature to 100[$^{\circ}C$], NO removal is decreased while $NO_2$ concentration is independent on gas temperature. This result suggest that the removal mechanism of active oxyzen species and $NO_2$ in sludge is not absorption, but chemical reaction. Temperature of heating treatment is on sludge pellets increased, $NO_x$ removal rate is decrease. It is thought that organic compound is removed by heating treatment.

In this study, removal characteristics of nitrogen oxides $(NO_x)$ from road transport by using peat as the packing media for biodegradation have been investigated in the long term. Physicochemical and biological treatment of peatmixed media eliminates any requirement to use chemical substances and also facilitates the biodegradable actions of microorganism. Safe biodegradation of pollutants, no need to apply additional microbes owing to their active growth, and no generation of secondary pollutants were found in this experiment. It was concluded that average removal efficiencies of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide $(NO_2)$ were 80% and 97% respectively with respect to the linear velocity 35~40 mm/s and 0.3 ppm ozone concentration in the long period operation. Inflow concentration of nitric oxide over 0.05 ppm was suitable when pretreated with ozone. Non-ozone stage was performed with linear velocity 20~100 mm/s and then the average removal efficiency of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide were 38% and 94% respectively. Other results showed that the apparent static pressure was raised with increases in applied water content and aerial velocity in mixed media during fan operation.

In this experimental study we proposed the double dielectric barrier discharge (DDBD) reactor to produce as high an electric field as possible. The experiment are conducted for applied voltage from 15 to 20[kV], $1~4[\ell/min]$ of gas flow rate and 120[Hz] and 240[Hz] of pulse rate. Superposition discharge(SPD) generated in DDBD which combined the surface discharge with the silence discharge was the most effective to reduce the $NO_x$. In the decomposition efficiency per watt, the low pulse rate gave better efficiency than the high pulse rate. However in DeNOx rate, the high pulse rate gave better performance than the low pulse rate. $NO_x$ removal rate and efficiency increased with increasing the applied voltage in all reactors.
Pressurized oxy-fuel combustion is a promising technology for $CO_2$ capture with a benefit of improving power plant efficiency compared with atmospheric oxy-fuel combustion. Prior to $CO_2$ compression in this process, a flue gas condenser (FGC) is used to remove $H_2O$ while recovering the latent heat. At the same time, the FGC has a potential for high-efficiency removal of $SO_x$ and $NO_x$ by exploiting their good solubility in water. In this study, experiments were carried out in a lab-scale, direct contact FGC under different pressures varying between 1 and 20 bar to evaluate the removal efficiency of $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ for individual gases and their mixture. In the tests for individual gases, 20% and 76% of $NO_x$ was removed at 1 bar and 10 bar, respectively. Even higher removal efficiencies were achieved for $SO_2$, and also these were maintained for longer as the pressure increased. In the tests for $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ mixture, the removal efficiency of $NO_x$ increased from 13% at 1 bar to 56% at 20 bar because of higher solubility at elevated pressures. $SO_2$ in the mixture was initially dissolved almost completely and then increased by 1,219 ppm at 1 bar and by 165 ppm at 20 bar. Overall, the removal efficiency of $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ was increased at elevated pressures, but it was lower in the mixture compared with individual gases at identical conditions because of a lower pH and associated chemical reactions in water.

In the condition of GHSV=$30000\;hr^{-1}$, $NO_x$ removal yield was higher as mole ratio of $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ for Fe/ZSM-5 was lower regardless of preparation method such as CVD (chemical vapor deposition) and dry impregnation. In addition to this, Fe/ZSM-5 catalyst showed about 50% $NO_x$ removal yield between $350^{\circ}C$ - $400^{\circ}C$ while CO formed significantly. To remove newly formed CO over Fe/ZSM-5, Co-Pt/ZSM-5 was used in conjunction with Fe/ZSM-5 in the series and this demonstrated over 90% removal yield of both NOx and CO at $250^{\circ}C$ and GHSV=$30000\;hr^{-1}$.
In this study, nitrogen oxide (NOx) removal experiments were performed using a graphene based ceramic filter coated with a V2O5-WO3-TiO2 catalyst. Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by Hummer's method using graphite, and the reduced graphene oxide was produced by reducing with hydrazine (N2H4). Vanadium (V), Tungsten (W), and Titanium (Ti) were coated by the sol-gel method, and then a metal oxide-supported filter was prepared through a calcination process at 350 ℃. A NOx removal efficiency test was performed for the catalytic ceramic filters with UV light in a humid condition. When graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were present on the filter, the NOx removal efficiency was superior to that of the conventional ceramic filter. Most likely, this is due to an improvement in the adsorption properties of NOx molecules on graphene coated surfaces. As the concentration of graphene increased, higher NOx removal efficiency was confirmed.
